  • "We love this restaurant and take almost everyone who visits here, and they all love it too. We had to wait about 20 min for our waiter to take our order which was disappointing, but he was helping two very large tables and they took the whole time to place their orders so I understand, but I would expect the restaurant to be better staffed on a Saturday night to accommodate large tables and not leave others waiting. After my mom called that out, he was great and the rest of the dinner was wonderful!"

  • "I was here 5 years ago with my girlfriend and we came back 5 years later and the food was just as amazing as we remembered! We sat in a booth the first time that we were there and kind of had a view but had to look over a couple of other tables. I asked for a table with a view the 2nd time and I was seated at what I thought was the best seat in the house, a corner table that looks out towards the Gaslamp district. I got there at around 715pm and the sun was still up. As we sat and enjoyed our Ahi tuna appetizer we slowly watched the sun set. We had our Prime rib and Lamb dinner, we stayed till it got dark and saw the city light up! Its always a amazing experience when I'm here. Cant wait to come back!"

  • "Great view, great service, amazing food, nice ambience. They even picked up flowers for me to surprise my girlfriend with! Awesome! The only thing I was unhappy with was the lobster bisque, it came in a small bowl and that bowl was only about half full. It was gone pretty quickly. But other than that, the steak, lobster, oysters, mac n cheese, all top notch!"

  • "We have been coming here from out of town for the last 4 or 5 years. It used to be one of our favorites in San Diego. Saturday night, not so much so. The service was great even though our server needed assistance on almost any question we had. For example "Are all these steaks prime?" The chopped salad was so marginal it could have come out of a box. The same thing with the lobster bisque. The "prime" ribeye, the special was very choice in taste and over cooked to boot. We may have too find a new go to place when we visit in the future."

  • "Amazing view, valet parking, great service. The food was almost better than sex. The bread pop-over dipped in the available soups will leave you breathless. Much better than the other local seafood fair. You know when you're at the right place when they comb your table between courses. Make reservations on line while your enjoying Bloody Mary's in old town San Diego."

  • "We arrived about 90 minutes early for our reservation knowing that C-level has one of the best views in the city. We enjoyed the brie appetizer and some wine before going to Island Prime for dinner. They seated us on the window for both and we were able to enjoy the sunset lighting up the San Diego skyline along with the passing ships. My wife enjoyed the seared Ahi and I had the Filet. Both of us were very satisfied with both the quality and portion size of our food. The servers at both were terrific, unfortunately I cannot recall their names."

  • "We were visiting San Diego and did the Island Prime 5 Course Tasting (w/ Some Surprises)-- Everything was at least very good. The menus descriptions do not do it justice. http://www.cohnrestaurants.com/islandprime/menu I like that the chef has created some interesting flavor combos. The 3 Oz Center Cut Filet Medallion was probably the least impressive thing on the tasting, having said that it was very good. We added a lobster tail on to this so we were overdone with richness by the end of the meal. Especially as there were a few muses added. The Pear and sake infused sorbet palate cleanse was something I wanted more of. Courses were well presented/described and timed well."

  • "Our previous eating experiences here had been outstanding, however this time both the service and food were disappointing. The organic green salad was not fresh and was drenched in too much salad dressing. The macadamia nut crusted fish was dry and the service was awful. We waited over an hour for our food with a cryptic apology but no explanation. We had brought dear friends out to dinner here and were embarrassed by the lack of high standards and exceptionally long wait. We will not be returning."

  • "For the money, the food wasn't worth the price - husband had bone in steak, I had prime rib and I can tell you, we are foodies... but the meat was no where near as tender as most other steak restaurants in San Diego. it also was not as flavorful. The twice baked potato was extremely overcooked and was a very big miss. The pop-overs are completely inappropriate given the dinner menu... that was kind of shocking... they didn't pair well at all with what we were eating. The lobster bisque was over-done and by this I mean it didn't have to be that rich or sweet. Chef Scott should be doing much better. Nice wine, nice views."

  • "So many service people, but not the best service. Ask for butter for bread, never got it. Salad came after the main course, sent it back. The scallops were cold, should have kept the salad and sent back the scallops. Dinner was over in less than one hour and they were seating the next table. Had to take a taxi to and back from hotel, next time do Anthony's."

  • "We took a friend here for his birthday on Sunday night. The food was outstanding, as it usually is, but the service was poor. That spoiled the evening. The wait staff were inattentive, indifferent. When we finished they cleared two plates, but leaving the third person with a dirty plate for 20 minutes. Giving us two menus instead of three. Asked us if we wanted dessert (yes, we did) and then never returned. I finally flagged someone down after another 20 minute wait. We've been here a dozen times and never experienced such bad service. A couple seated next to us about 30 minutes after we arrived had soup and then their entrees before we were served anything. I did leave $0 tip, and I hope they got the message."

  • "Service was lacking considering the fine dining label: 1) have a suggestion if you do not have the correct wine, 2) offer to reduce the bottle price if it is the wrong vintage and 3) be aware of when to interrupt your guests (pause a few moments before interrupting for menu questions). Food was good. C-Level seems to be a better equation for this restaurateur."

  • "At this price point, you have to have it all: view, atmosphere, service, and great food. The view is top notch. The atmosphere is quite good; however, the service and food is not up to par. We arrived at 5:45 for dinner and left at 8:45. Three hours!!! We missed our boat. The food is the way below par. I would fire the chef and find someone who knows how to cook. It can't all be about presentation, you have to have taste. Cheesecake factory's food puts this place to shame, and their price point is lower. The wine list has a limited selection of California wines....ahem...it's in California. If you want a view try Chart House in North County, but not on the weekend as they bump "members" ahead of your reservation, or Poseidon in Del Mar"

  • "We started off with the shrimp cockstail and oysters. They were fresh. We all got steak, I had the bone in filet and lobster special. Wish the restaurant would go from wet aged to dry aged. The food was cooked perfectly. The macaroni and cheese is a must try side. Large enough for a table of 4."

  • "Can you imagine eating a steak, etc and also being located on San Diego Bay watching the boats go by. This is what you get at Island Prime Steakhouse. My wife and I shared a wedge salad (plenty large) and then she had a NY Strip and I have Rack of Lamb. Add some sides and this is a perfect meal for Fathers Day. Melissa, our waitress could not have been better. She is a darling of a person, plus being totally knowledgable. She, and the rest of the equally great staff, made the evening priceless. I highly recommend this restaurant for a wonderful evening."

  • "The ambiance makes up for the overpriced and tasteless food. The prime rib was grilled and left a propane taste and smell. This is not prime meat but choice meat, it was not tender and needs some serious seasoning. The prices need some tweaking because we paid 27 dollars for the 12oz cut when just for nine dollars more, we received the same cut of beef in a blackened version that came with veggies and fries. We paid an extra twelve dollars for sides when we should've ordered the blackened version. The desserts do not carry a wide variety, mostly banana dishes. The manager made the rounds to everyone's table but ours. The server was pretty nonchalant. Not the kind that is expected from a "high end" restaurant."
