"Vibrant waterfront location overlooking San Diego harbor and downtown. We had the 5-course sampler with paired wines, which was really excellent. Beet salad, lobster bisque, ahi, filet of beef oscar style (crab and asparagus) and key lime pie. Service was attentive and informative, but not over-bearing. Recommend this place heartily!"

"I've been to "C Level" numerous times, during Happy Hours, and always enjoy it. Just wish the HH ran a little longer for those of us who have to rush over from work. This was my first time at Island Prime. It was incredible. I had the petite filet with lobster tail. You could almost cut the filet with a fork, it was cooked to perfection and the lobster was very moist, not overcooked. We also had the escargo which was extremely good, tender and very tasty, the mushrooms were amazing. Our server was friendly and helpful, the view was amazing. I love the Cohn Family restaurants, I have enjoyed their food at maybe 5 or their restaurants and they have always met my expectations - excellent food, excellent atmosphere and excellent service!"

"Though the staff was pleasant, service at the beginning was slow. Water and bread delivery took over 10 minutes from being seated. Once we got our first course, the timing snapped back into place.
Our group had the lobster bisque, the mussels special, Brie and escargot to start- all well prepared and delicious. The pork chop entree was cooked perfectly. The sugar crust was too sweet for my liking but was easy to remove.
The best part of the dinner is the view of the bay and the city. The restaurant itself is very attractive in design and comfortable. I would recommend it and will think of it again when we're in the area."

"I made a reservation for the family through Open Table and the table was ready on time. We had a nice table next to a bayside window. The service was good except for the forgotten appetizer. I had to remind the server about it. Even with that delay there was still a long wait for the entrees. I would say it was not quite an hour after we ordered before the food came to the table. The food was very good. But this was tempered by the long wait."

"When we got to the restaurant we had reservations so we were seated right away. The view was amazing, it almost felt like we were floating on the water. We got to see the sun set and watch boats go in and out. The sangria was really good. To start we had the "a study in lobster" which had the lobster lollipop, lobster-sherry bisque, lobster-fontina grilled cheese. The lobster bisque was amazing. The other two were okay, but I think it was hoping for less fry. In addition, we ordered the oysters on the half shell. These were very fresh and very good. For dinner, we the ordered the pistachio crusted lamb rack, lobster milanese, and garlic & rosemary crusted ribeye. I think my favorite was the ribeye, beware it is huge! Everything was great!"

"Being from the east coast and having some great choices for steak and seafood - The Palm, Mortons, Capital City Grill .. to name a few... we had high expectations for Island Prime after reading the reviews. We had a an overal enjoyable experience due to good service and great ambience, but the reason for going in the first place- the food- was less than spectacular.
The appetizers were OK, and the entrees were both lacking in flavor. We actually were debating on going to the Chart House which had an equally good review and fantastic view, but passed since we have one at home on the east coast and wanted to try a place local to San Diego. After our experience we wish we HAD gone to chart house, since we have always had great meals there!!"
