Very disappointing service from every moment after we were seated. Our waiter went to ask what rum was available and didn't return for 20 minutes even though we hadn't ordered anything. Then as our drinks were finally delivered we asked for a dessert menu but we never got one. Of the three meals, one was ice cold and had clearly been sitting waiting for the others. It took almost two hours for a drink and entree. The manager removed the cold meal from the bill but it doesn't make up for he lousy experience.

We came in after a big Red Sox-Yankees game, and the place was packed! I'd suggest making reservations... We made ours two weeks out, just in case, & we were right. Probably one of the best oyster restaurants anywhere in the US, & an incredibly deep wine selection to pair. We had terrific service, loved the vibrant ambience, & indulged in 2 dozens oysters of various origin. Loved the local MA oysters. Two items not to miss, besides the oysters, are the oyster sliders (yes!), and the lobster roe pasta w/ short ribs (soo savory... Salty and fatty). We actually booked this place because of the reviews on their lobster roll, but sadly we were so stuffed on other unique foodie items that we didn't even order one. I will definitely be back!

The hostess and the wait staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. The raw oysters were excellent but everything after the raw appetizer was disappointment. My expectations for fresh seafood were high after seeing this restaurant holds a 4.8 star rating. I sent back the steamed clams because the sauce was way too salty! Apparently the head chef agreed with my verdict and muscles were ordered. Even with a special request, the kitchen was unable to steam the muscles in a clear white wine broth without cream. I was equally disappointed in my main seafood casserole that I had been assured was truly a divine signature dish...salt was too noticeable a flavor in every dish presented.

We have eaten here a couple times before; the first time was awesome, second time seemed less impressive- perhaps because we sat at a table? - seems like (at least for us, we have the best time when we sit at the bar as we did the first and most recent time.) We do arrive early, since we we have been going to a Red Sox game, so the bar is definitely an option. Oysters are always just the best! The portion for the lobster roe noodles seemed larger this last time, which was great. It did seem rather small for the price before, but still tastes just as great as always- portion is just perfect now. The bartenders are wonderful and very attentive. We will definitely keep coming back.

Interesting ambiance, but disappointed with some of the dishes. Cocktail shrimp were totally overlooked: pretty rookie mistake for a famous seafood restaurant. My 'famed' lobster roll was served on a bun that was cold and stale! - lobster stuffing lacked flavour and chips were extremely oily. Lobster pasta was like warm, like it had been sitting and servers had forgotten to pick it up when it was hot. We had about 4 servers visit us, the one bringing our oysters app stropped and went back because our table hadn't been set up yet with condiments and bread. Sisappointing and overpriced - it was supposed to be the highlight meal of our Boston trip, but in the end I felt foolish for suggesting it.

While the oysters are delicious and the bartenders are attentive, the service staff, if you sit a table, is a bit slow and inconsistent. Our service for food (i.e. oysters and lobster bisque to start the meal) took about 15-20 minutes. When we finally finished (almost 2 hours later for a two person meal) a random server that we had not seen before dropped off and took the check, even though our server was still there and picked up the paid check just before we left. I'd rather go to Eastern Standard and get the same oysters there.

Fish prepared with care and incredible skill, awesome selection of oysters, somewhat overwhelming bar selection, all tied together with helpful, friendly, and effective service. Everything we tried at our table exceeded expectations... we need more visits to try the rest of the menu. But always get a "buttermilk biscuit" - simply amazing, and the biscuit leftovers were fantastic with the morning coffee.

Amazing food, hip but attentive, down-to-earth service, gorgeous setting, Island Creek Oyster Bar is where I always bring out-of-town guests looking for the best Boston has to offer. Island Creek oysters from Duxbury, Moon Shoals oysters from the Cape, fluke crudo, and fresh locally caught fish are astonishingly good. The oyster shooter (an adult beverage) is one of a kind. They know what they are doing here.

We went with a party of 8 including 2 children (10 and 6). Staff was accommodating for the kids. My 10 year old liked a couple of the oyster selections and that says a lot. The food was phenomenal and the best we had while staying in the city. The meals are prepared to go together and the flavors blended perfectly. It is obvious that things are meant to be eaten the way they are prepared. Oysters were fresh and amazing and the chowder was the best we had during our 5 nights in Boston. I can't say enough about this place. I work as a server in a high end restaurant in Ohio and this place was worth every penny.

Service was outstanding, and food was delightful. The salmon entree was the highlight of our meal. I asked details about a cocktail - the recipe was written out and returned with style. This was going above and beyond and on top of already excellent service. I will be looking for an opportunity to return.

Our reservation was for 4:30 as our party was going to the Red Sox game after dinner. We were 5 minutes early and we were made to wait at the bar where we were summarily ignored. We waited well past 4:30 while the staff set up the restaurant (really.. they didn't know people were coming?). Our waiter Joe was very good and no complaints there. All of the food ordered was increadibly substandard. My fried clams (Ipswich they say on the menu .. must be "frozen in Ipswich "Ohio") were "scrawny" and chewy like rubber bands... Yes, I'm from New England, live on the ocean and know good seafood... this was terrible.. My guest from North Carolina had the mussels which again were terrible (he was polite but I asked o taste).

We started out on a low note with the music so loud that we could not talk at the table. When asked to lower the sound, we were obliged; however, the music got louder as the restaurant filled. I started with a half dozen oysters from a list of about 16. They were properly briny and came with the usual accompaniments. There was also an excellent whitefish cerviche with the correct amount of citrus and spice. The Marha's Vineyard black cod came as a whole deep fried fish. It was difficult to bane as it was very crispy but we managed with few bones. We also had a grilled stripped bass that came in a sauce with sausage and Israeli couscous. Tasty but a bit spicy detracting from the freshness of the fish.

I am a fan of fresh sea food, and this place has it. The raw bar selection is very good and the ceviche was a gem. I ate a whole black bass and it made me feel like I was eating at the beach. My wife got the Casserole and it was good but we both agreed it would have been better to order from the selection of fresh fish dishes. The entire staff, from the valet to the servers, is very friendly and thoughtful. They went the extra mile to print "Happy Anniversary" in our menus. They won a new customer.

Island Creek Oyster Bar is one of our favorite restaurants! I ordered 3 varieties of oysters this time: Island Creeks, Moonshoals, and Chathams. All of them were delicious, but the Chathams were the largest and the tastiest! My husband ordered the striped bass ceviche and a bluefish entree. I chose the tuna tartare and a crab cake with a cucumber and tomato salad. Both the service and the food were fabulous! We highly recommend this restaurant!
