We have only been to Isa's twice, but will be visiting more often. Innovative food perfectly prepared and expertly served. We began with curried cauliflower, prepared with shredded gruyere, and sauteed mushrooms - a luscious combination of textures and flavors. We shared our dinners 50/50 - stuffed pork loin and a ricotta gnudi with rutabagas and other vegetables. Everything on the plates added to the flavors and textures for a perfect meal. We will be back soon.

We booked a table at Isa's because it was highly recommended by friends and was also located in the hotel we were staying in. We were the only patrons there at 7pm on a Tuesday evening so it was very quiet. The service was excellent and the ambiance was pleasant but without any "wow" factor. Both of my companions had roast duck, which they said was excellent. I had the coastal catch of the day which was dry and a little disappointing. The waiter's selection of wines were delicious. But, all in all, it was a very pleasant experience.

We looked at the menu and the chef's credentials (Johnson & Wales, Peninsula Grill in Charleston, the Jefferson in Richmond and Per Se in NYC) and thought Isa's was worth a try. We started with gougeres (savory cheese profiteroles) which were served with Benton's bacon jam ....incredible combination that would even be hard to replicate in France. The local trout was served with a white bean cassoulet and celery root which was the perfect accompaniement. My wife's ricotta gnudi were "light as a feather" and we're just as skillfully matched with sauce and vegetable. Both entrees were so good that we kept commenting about them with every bite. Our server was professional and accommodating, but the food was the undisputed star !

Stumbled across this place while vising Asheville with friends. The service was a bit slow and the food and but cold upon arrival--not hot, just lukewarm. It kind of describes our overall experience here. The tomato/artichoke soup was good, but only barely warm. The burger was decent, but not noteworthy. The salmons salad was ok, but skimpy--hardly any avocado and a VERY small portion. The chicken sandwich special was average at best. This place wants to be considered a hip, innovative place, but in reality their food fell flat for me. To top it off, the waitress kept trying to clear our plates WHILE we were taking bites of food!!!

We went to Isa because of a gift card; we'd dined there 3 times before. Overall - good. Best: service. Noise: little high - I think Isa pushes the bar scene and it's not isolated enough from the dining. I expected the food to be special and it was not. Fish special was bland - fish was good but it needed something to make it distinctive. Rissotto was also less flavorful than expected. Dessert was very tasty but a confusing combination piled on the plate. Overall, not a great experience, hence not a great value.

In a town with a lot of really good restaurants, Isa's is still a stand-out. Everyone in my party agreed that the food was excellent. Wine list is not lengthy, but the featured wines are very good. Wonderful desserts! I love the modern decor. My only minor gripe is the noise level. It started loud, and got louder. Other than this, it's a close-to-perfect restaurant experience.

I was pleasantly surprised with Isa's. Very nice wine list and drink menu. Server was good and the space is fantastic. A bit pricey for the actual food but I need to try it again and get some more plates. Had the duck and it was nice but not the best duck ever. The steak was also very good but some of the sides were sort of small portions and didn't seem to match the entree great. I would go again and one nice thing there is the valet parking (even though it took 15 mins) it's still better then driving all around looking for a spot downtown on a Friday.

Fried calamari appetizer was good, so high hopes were established. Everything else we had was a letdown. Just another overpriced restaurant whose sense of food involves adding as many odd things together as possible and call it creative. The tomato jam on the flounder plate was thick ketchup with no salt. The spaetzle was browned and the kind of chewy that never ends. All of the food was under-seasoned and the place is pretentious enough to not put salt/pepper on the tables. Ordered dessert because of the pastry chef. Have had (much) better at a diner. The place was almost empty and stayed empty while we were there. Yet - they asked if we had a reservation and looked in their book to see if they had a table open.

We were a little disappointed in Isa's. The rating I saw online was 4.5 stars out of 5. We thought it was a very good dinner (6 of us), but would rate it more of a 3.5 - 4.0. The service was excellent and our meals were very good - not as special as we think a 4.5 star rating should be. Since it is a noisy restaurant, it is not an intimate dining experience.

I have to say as much as I love Isa's, the food has becoming somewhat boring and uninspired. Isa's was my favorite restaurant last year. I have not been there much in the last several months but have been twice recently. The service was impeccable as always (thanks Andy) but the food is becoming lackluster and unimaginative. The lamb dish was adequate but somewhat boring. The bang bang cauliflower had lost at least one bang. No longer zingy and spicy but somewhat bland. I fear the bloom has gone off the rose.....

despite being off the lobby of the hotel and the kitchen in the basement, the restaurant manages to be on the creative side with their menu selections. wine list is limited but nice options are available. seating inside is bit sterile but outside is a wonderful way to experience the eclectic street scene and street music of asheville. service our night was a bit uneven but dining al fresco in this setting made for a dining experience that was not to be rushed. also dog friendly for those wishing that option!

BANG BANG” Cauliflower, Duck Breast with truffled foie gras risotto, Octopus Salad, Lamb, and Panna Cotta, absolutely amazing food. The chef is innovative and knows how to put flavors together for interesting combinations. Fantastic service. We were seated by the wall (and this is a great place to be) and watched everyone walking about on Haywood. The restaurant and bar are very nice. Outside seating is available, too. An upscale meets casual atmosphere. A nice bonus is complimentary parking at Haywood Hotel. This is now one of our favorite Asheville restaurants.

Had our anniversary dinner on the patio. A great blend of the vibrant street scene of Asheville with excellent and creative food. We had salads and a few appetizers and enjoyed every one. Combine that with 3 glasses of wine and dessert with a bill less than $100. A great evening. In fact, we are bringing friends from out of town there Sunday evening in anticipation of the same kind of night. A great restaurant.

Last Sunday I dined with my foodie boyfriend, two siblings, and grandmother, all of whom have very different palates. Everyone was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the grilled peach and watermelon salad, which was beautiful and well-balanced. The spiced rum cream was incredibly light and complimented the dish perfectly. Our server, Chelsea, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. She gave excellent craft cocktail suggestions, and all of their featured ones are only $7! Nowhere else in town can you find such a selection for that price. I recommend the London in Paris. Other highlights: great patio for people watching, validated parking, and top-notch desserts--something many otherwise amazing restaurants in Asheville fall short on.

We had a bad evening at this fairly expensive restaurant. I have celiac disease and accordingly ordered form their separate gluten free menu. They then served me gluten containing dishes, with the explanation that they had no way of knowing I was ordering from their gluten free menu, although I had requested it and had been handed it. They seemed to think that this was my fault and were not the least bit eager to replace the items or make any amends. Otherwise the food was fine but overpriced and slightly cold. The service was average but became surly when I complained. There are a half a dozen better options for dinner within a few minutes walk in downtown Asheville.

Nice to have a classy spot to go to amidst all of the Earthy Asheville options. (Don't get me wrong, I like those too, but there needs to be more like Isa's to balance our options) The original cocktails were fabulous. Loved everything about it and will be back.

I will gladly tell people about this resturant in the future. I did give the service 4 stars because it was hard to get her attention when she walked by.

A classy gem of a restaurant in the middle of what's otherwise a highly "alternative" area of Asheville, and an excellent choice for my birthday dinner.
