Isa’s Bistro is located in the heart of downtown Asheville at One Battery Park Avenue. Our 90 seat dining room is complimented by a wine cellar event space that can accommodate from 12 to 80 guests. Isa’s also boasts a lively sidewalk patio on one of Asheville’s most interesting intersections.

Fresh, local, seasonal: Chef Duane Fernandes describes his menu as “ingredient driven new American with a Mediterranean influence”. Isa’s menus are printed daily in order to highlight the best local produce as well as outstanding product from around the world. Fernandes’ experience in some of America’s top kitchens has left him dedicated to and passionate about the authentic, memorable dining experience.

Isa’s combination of great food, service and wine in a comfortable, laid back environment make it a culinary destination for both locals and visitors.

It was a pleasant evening so we sat outside. This could be a bit loud when there are lots of tourists in town, but it was fine for a Monday night. There is abundant inside seating as well. There are lots of restaurant choices in Asheville, but I'd eat here again."

  • "I love this restaurant,but ordered a strawberry salad advertised as greens with strawberries and bacon bits with strawberry vinaigrette. I could taste nothing but the overwhelming smoky and slightly off taste of bacon. It was awful. The mussels were very good and the lemon tart was excellent. Everyone else loved their meals. I hope the chef fixes the salad!"

  • "My husband and I love this restaurant for lunch. We work downtown so it is convenient and the food is generally good. The complaints we have are: they are never really ready to open at 11:30. Some things are inconsistent. For example, the aioli is never prepared the same way twice, and they change menu items that are delicious and unique (farm bean salad) for other items that are just plain weird. And don't even think about getting dessert. It's not worth the price. On the other hand, the main menu items are really delicious, well prepared and consistently good. Their use of kimchi as a garnish for sandwiches is brilliant. The wine list is nice too. Definitely worth trying. They are still pretty new so maybe they will work it out."

  • "We sat outside so I cannot tell you how the inside atmosphere is like but we had an awesome experience. I had the duck and it was wonderful. My husband got a salad with the mussels (starter). Both were excellent. I would highly recommend dining here. If you want a quieter experience, sit inside. There is no smoking in the sidewalk table seating but there is smoking just over the railing so that might ruin an otherwise perfect evening."

  • "We had dinner at Isa's with my husband's cousins from out of town. We rarely get to visit, so we chose Isa'a because we knew that the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, we could still see Asheville activity beyond the windows, but we knew we could hear each others' conversation, which is NOT the case in so many downtown restaurants. My duck breast was perfect, the cousins' lamb was delicious, my husband's mahi tender. The service was excellent and subdued -- the wait staff could tell we were enjoying each other's company, so they watched and did not interfere with conversation. The pinot noir was particularly good, too. WE WILL BE BACK!"

  • "Beautiful place & great service. The bacon gougeres (one of the reasons we went there) were so dry they were difficult to eat. The charcuterie plate was outstanding (and enough for 3 or 4). The duck was very good, but the risotto that accompanied it was off the charts. Except for a hint of smokiness, we didn't detect any truffles or foie gras, but the plentiful strips of duck confit made it. The wine list is much better than what is shown on their website. "

Highly recommended and easier to get into (for now) than places of comparable food quality that have been around awhile, just in case you forgot to make reservations. The wine list is solid, and the setting with windows onto a busy pedestrian area is pleasant. Our only complaint is that the service is not quite up to the level of the food (the service is okay, just not great); fortunately the manager seems to be working on that."

My guests were most complimentary about the food, especially the Rissoto. My only complaint was that at one point the music was so loud that it was hard to hear each other. I asked a waitress to have the music turned down , which she did, and then it was a pleasant environment. I think the Valet service is a well-kept secret! (A wonderful service considering the parking problems in downtown Asheville.) I will definitely attend again, whether for business or pleasure."

  • "Met with a group of friends from PA/NC/GA. Its in a good location downtown as you are within walking distance to downtown night life/scene after eating. The food is a little pricey but there are a lot of different items you definitely won't see on a menu at a chain. (Some items we had to Google to find out what they were!!) Everyone was pleased with their meals, would recommend the lamb and scallop dishes. For starters try the bang bang Cauliflower. Service was friendly and competent. Valet parking!"

  • "I've been to this restaurant several times. The service is terrible: wrong orders received; snippy staff; slow; inattentive. The food is sometimes good, other times mediocre. My eggs benedict on trout sausage and pancetta consisted of amazingly tough pancetta and minimal trout sausage. The fried oysters on cabbage slaw consisted of a huge portion of underdressed cabbage slaw topped by good fried oysters. It's a very nice room, so at least one can experience poor service and mediocre food in a pleasant environment. It was very telling that there were very few people in the restaurant."
