  • A little disappointed

We were a little disappointed in Isa's. The rating I saw online was 4.5 stars out of 5. We thought it was a very good dinner (6 of us), but would rate it more of a 3.5 - 4.0. The service was excellent and our meals were very good - not as special as we think a 4.5 star rating should be. Since it is a noisy restaurant, it is not an intimate dining experience.

I have to say as much as I love Isa's, the food has becoming somewhat boring and uninspired. Isa's was my favorite restaurant last year. I have not been there much in the last several months but have been twice recently. The service was impeccable as always (thanks Andy) but the food is becoming lackluster and unimaginative. The lamb dish was adequate but somewhat boring. The bang bang cauliflower had lost at least one bang. No longer zingy and spicy but somewhat bland. I fear the bloom has gone off the rose.....

despite being off the lobby of the hotel and the kitchen in the basement, the restaurant manages to be on the creative side with their menu selections. wine list is limited but nice options are available. seating inside is bit sterile but outside is a wonderful way to experience the eclectic street scene and street music of asheville. service our night was a bit uneven but dining al fresco in this setting made for a dining experience that was not to be rushed. also dog friendly for those wishing that option!

BANG BANG” Cauliflower, Duck Breast with truffled foie gras risotto, Octopus Salad, Lamb, and Panna Cotta, absolutely amazing food. The chef is innovative and knows how to put flavors together for interesting combinations. Fantastic service. We were seated by the wall (and this is a great place to be) and watched everyone walking about on Haywood. The restaurant and bar are very nice. Outside seating is available, too. An upscale meets casual atmosphere. A nice bonus is complimentary parking at Haywood Hotel. This is now one of our favorite Asheville restaurants.

Had our anniversary dinner on the patio. A great blend of the vibrant street scene of Asheville with excellent and creative food. We had salads and a few appetizers and enjoyed every one. Combine that with 3 glasses of wine and dessert with a bill less than $100. A great evening. In fact, we are bringing friends from out of town there Sunday evening in anticipation of the same kind of night. A great restaurant.

Last Sunday I dined with my foodie boyfriend, two siblings, and grandmother, all of whom have very different palates. Everyone was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the grilled peach and watermelon salad, which was beautiful and well-balanced. The spiced rum cream was incredibly light and complimented the dish perfectly. Our server, Chelsea, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. She gave excellent craft cocktail suggestions, and all of their featured ones are only $7! Nowhere else in town can you find such a selection for that price. I recommend the London in Paris. Other highlights: great patio for people watching, validated parking, and top-notch desserts--something many otherwise amazing restaurants in Asheville fall short on.

We had a bad evening at this fairly expensive restaurant. I have celiac disease and accordingly ordered form their separate gluten free menu. They then served me gluten containing dishes, with the explanation that they had no way of knowing I was ordering from their gluten free menu, although I had requested it and had been handed it. They seemed to think that this was my fault and were not the least bit eager to replace the items or make any amends. Otherwise the food was fine but overpriced and slightly cold. The service was average but became surly when I complained. There are a half a dozen better options for dinner within a few minutes walk in downtown Asheville.

I loved my first experience at Isa's. It was big and airy with a bit of glitz that made the atmosphere exciting. The service was great and the food was delicious. Nice to have a classy spot to go to amidst all of the Earthy Asheville options. (Don't get me wrong, I like those too, but there needs to be more like Isa's to balance our options) The original cocktails were fabulous. Loved everything about it and will be back.

I choose this resturant for my boyfriends birthday. We walked up and automatically they wished him a Happy Birthday! I had the arugula and goat cheese stuffed pork, it was out of this world amazing. My boyfriend had the duck breast and rissoto which was fanastic as well. I will gladly tell people about this resturant in the future. I did give the service 4 stars because it was hard to get her attention when she walked by.

A classy gem of a restaurant in the middle of what's otherwise a highly "alternative" area of Asheville, and an excellent choice for my birthday dinner. Props especially to the cocktails and excellent service. My only misgiving was we dined far too early... the street scene has to be outstanding when it gets late!

We were spending the afternoon in downtown and couldn't think of a better way to end the day than with dinner at Isa's. They were busy but we were seated promptly and attended immediately. We sat outside but the inside of the restaurant was really cool - the wait staff was wonderful & so was the hostess - & it was nice that they actually offered kid's meals. There were 4 adults & each one of our entrees were excellent - particularly the chicken, the pork & the slow cooked barbecue appetizer. Highly recommend this place!

This used to be my favorite restaurant but it has really gone downhill. We brought guests recently and were embarassed. They didn't get the drink orders right, couldn't keep straight which of us ordered what, and the food was terrible. The lettuce in the salad was not fresh and all the meals were served stone cold. Even the menu itself was not very appealing. Will never go back. It is too bad because it used to be good and the atmosphere is nice. The restaurant was empty when we were there so my guess is that others agree that it is no longer what it was.

Sorry we did not dine here sooner. If you want grilled octopus with chrozio sausage and crispy fried baby artichokes, farro with wild mushrooms, local bison, or even a hamburger, they prepare everything with perfection and beauty. The menu changes with what is fresh and best that day. The service is knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The chef even came out to thank me when I praised the octopus preparation. We will be back and soon. Lovely place.

I love this restaurant, but ordered a strawberry salad advertised as greens with strawberries and bacon bits with strawberry vinaigrette. I could taste nothing but the overwhelming smoky and slightly off taste of bacon. It was awful. The mussels were very good and the lemon tart was excellent. Everyone else loved their meals. First time dining at Isa's, chosen based on reviews and convenient location. We had great food, the server was professional and well trained on the menu and knew the beers and wines as well. It was a pleasant evening so we sat outside. This could be a bit loud when there are lots of tourists in town, but it was fine for a Monday night. There is abundant inside seating as well. There are lots of restaurant choices in Asheville, but I'd eat here again.
