  • "Wonderful service, great food. It was our 40th anniversary and they brought us complimentary champagne and dessert for is and another couple with us. Great place, we will go back. "

  • "We have dined @Isabellas several times during our trips to NYC and we have never been disappointed in the quality of food service or ambience. It is a delightful and exceptional restaurant."

  • "I have been here for brunch twice, once with a group and once with my mom. The location is great (right by the Museum of Natural History & Central Park). The filet migon eggs Benedict are pretty amazing. And the best part is complementary minosa/bellini with brunch entry!"

  • "First off, this place must be okay for Brunch because there was a line around the corner when we walked by. Went back for dinner as it was close to the apartment we were staying at. The service was excellent, hostess seated us straight away and our waiter was superb. He was friendly, knowledgeable and made some great suggestions. We started with a special, a curried vegetable soup that was excellent. It came out hot and was very tasty. Ordered two steaks, the NY and the Filet and they came out cooked exactly as ordered. The filet was very good and the NY strip was good, but not great the piece of meat could have been a bit better, so knock off one star. Dessert was the "chocolate bag" and it was fantastic! "

  • "Always like to have lunch at Isabella's when we visit NYC and always had a good time over the years. We like the menu selection, the food and the location 1 block from Central Park."

  • "Once upon a time Isabella's was a trendy hotspot where one could go celebrity watching. Times have changed but Isabella's hasn't become any less alluring for anybody in the area who desires a little extra elegance without a lot more attitude or unnecessary pandering. They don't ask you how much you would like your fish cooked because they KNOW how to cook fish. There was a diverse list of wines and beers...and the mixed drinks are good without being overpriced. We had a good time celebrating my wife's birthday there."

  • "Very good food. It was quite noisey the evening we were there. The servers were polite but the wait to order and then to get the food was too long.."

  • "We were a group of 10 and had 2 servers attending to our table. Unfortunately the service was very slow and the servers were inattentive. We received one bread basket containing 3 pieces of bread. When the main course finally arrived the general opinion of the table was the food was fair and uneventful. The desserts were tasty. I'm sorry to say I would not recommend this establishment to friends."

  • "The service staff are friendly, but the food was extremely disappointing. I had been to Isabella's many times over the years, and my last visit was in 2010. The breaded and deep fried artichoke was like a Costco or Sam's Club frozen item that was finished off with nice garnishes but tasted like it came from a warehouse store. We asked for more baguette, and they sent multi-grain sandwich slices that had been toasted and cut in half. The Hay Straw Linguine would have been better if it were actually hay and straw with chicken. Everyone else's entrees were also disappointing, but at least the desserts were good. I should have checked out the other reviews before dining there and spending over $200."

  • "We had a group of 5; three of us were very early due to a change in schedule, so hung out in the little bar area. People in the bar were friendly and the time zipped by. The general manager is a delightful young lady, interested in her guests, doing handstands to accommodate needs. All the staff were helpful, cheerful, pleasant. There were several wedding groups which added to the happy, neighborhood feel. Menu has something for everyone, excellent wine choices; food was well prepared and beautifully presented. We had a table toward the back which allowed us enough quiet to visit, but not be too removed from the energy of the restaurant. Our group ranged from young adults to 60s, one almost 90. Everyone enjoyed the evening.."

  • "I had the salmon which was cooked well, but I wish they kept it more simple. It was served over a green purée which didn't have much flavor and cooked peppers which are way too dominating to be served and these large beans as well which were also too heavy against the salmon. Would have preferred it to be next to some lighter veggies. I really liked the Tuscan Kale salad, but you really have to like Kale because it was the heavier type Kale and not the baby Kale version. My hubby had the Mahi Mahi which was also cooked well but was surrounded by tiny cubes of sweet potatoes or yams. Too heavy to be around the fish. Needed a veggie that was more complimentary to the fish. If they Keep the entrees simpler, we will come more often."

  • "RECEPTION: Warm, welcoming & friendly. TABLE: Exactly as requested when booking online. SERVICE: Efficient without being effusive or officious. Pleasant and attentive. Smiles and caring. AMBIENCE: Extremely pleasant, European feel. Loved large number of round tables. Quiet and comfortable. FOOD: Delicious, creative menu, excellent variety/choices, beautifully presented, generous servings. VALUE: Unquestionably excellent value for money. GENERAL: Have dined at Isabella's a number of times, and have never been disappointed. It's really very nice to know what to expect. This well run, high standards/top quality restaurant is consistently excellent. We'll be back and we urge readers of this review to experience Isabella's for themselves."

  • "This is one of my favorite Manhattan restaurants. Great food and drinks, nice ambience, and in a convenient location (both in terms of transportation and the Museum of Natural History, NY Historical Society, and Central Park). It can be a little noisy, but it's still possible to talk to (and hear) everyone at a table for 6. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the meal and servers are always friendly and helpful"

  • "Five "ladies" "lunched" to celebrate a birthday and our continuing friendship. We asked for, and got, a "quiet" table--a good thing, as it sometimes gets noisy. The food was good, as always, and the "chocolate bag" dessert was terrific."

  • "I have been frequenting Isabella's for over 20 years and am so pleased with the consistent quality of the food and service. The specials were creative and priced at equivalent levels to the menu which we much appreciate. The menu items are as fresh and delicious as the specials. The service was very friendly and attentive. Overall, we had an excellent experience and will e back soon."

  • "I took my out-of-state parents here after a day at the museum and a walk in Central Park. They were very impressed. service is quick and efficient. There was no big lag between courses. The waiter was knowledgable and helpful. The food was very good and there was a wide enough selection to please everyone especially my strict vegetarian daughter. My mother and I are small eaters and shared the seafood cappillini. It was excellant! My father loved the sauce on his butternut squash ravioli and my daughter thouroughly enjoyed her flatbread as an entree. Those dishes plus some creative salads were exaclty enough food to satisfy completly with no leftovers to haul home."

  • "We had fantastic service! The Manager/host rearranged tables for us so we could sit in a quiet corner for my almost deaf Uncle. And our server was so patient and pleasant to us, and the food was very good! This is our favorite NYC restuarant when we come to town."

  • "The quality of the food was only surpassed by the quality of the service. It is a rare occasion that as parents of 2 young children we get a night out for dinner & a show. After one cancelled train and a second 30 min delay I thought for sure we would have to give up on dinner. The entire staff did an outstanding job of communicating our situation. We never once felt rushed and had an incredible meal from appetizer to dessert all in 45 minutes. I look forward to returning in warmer weather to sit outside and enjoy the views of the museum grounds."

  • "Found this gem thanks to Restaurant Week 2014...service was great...food was amazing...prices on the regular menu were reasonable for NYC....as were the wine prices! Would definitely recommend if you are near the Upper West Side!"

  • "We took the NYC Restaurant Week menu. It was very good. Three course menu and a special price for the wine. Goid deal. The restaurant is very cosy, delicate atmosphere. Love it."

  • "The chicken sandwich was dry and had a bone in it. I told the waiter it wasn't good and I was ofered the pork. The pork had a poor presentation and no taste. The dessert was frozen. The waiter never returned to our table to receive the payment, we had to go to the cashier ourselves. The decor is poor and old. Isabella's? Never more."

  • "I try and take my parents to Isabellas every time I come to NYC, and as usual it doesn't disappoint. Quality of the food is excellent; short but decent wine list, attentive waitstaff. The space is open to the sidewalk during the summer which allows them to seat more and reduces the noise level, but in wintertime the noise can be energetic at times. That said, a great place for family, friends, date night, even business meals. Young and attentive staff yet knowledgable about the menu."

  • "We live part time on the UWS and truly enjoy this restaurant. Service is excellent, food is always good and a perfect setting. What we really appreciate is how well run it is. We look forward to going back."

  • "We made a reservation for about 10 o'clock at 9:30. They took the reservation but we felt kind of rushed the whole time. Everyone was cleaning up around us. I had a linguine dish it was good the other person in my party had chicken and it was kind of okay. We are glad to get a table and think that if we had come earlier in the evening we would've had five-star experience. I would try this restaurant again."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "It was just OK. Considering it is on the UWS, it's fine, but definitely not an outstanding restaurant."

  • "I made a reservation for a quiet table and I got one. The service was friendly and upbeat. The food was great. But I had asked in advance to order from the special Pris Fixe restaurant menu, and upon reflection, that was not the menu I was given. I realize now I should have asked for the Restaurant Week menu, and feel myself a victim of bait and switch.,"
