  • "If you are looking for something better then a clam chowder bread bowl in San Fran. If you enjoy a "sharing menu" with eclectic healthy options then let me suggest ISA. Our first time here - table for four - We had the fresh fish, chicken, lamb and assorted vegetables. Let me not forget they have some delicious cheese selections and their bread tto table is the best! Everything was enjoyable, tasty (and love love love their potatoes!)."

  • "I brought my sweetheart and our friend here for the first time. They are both foofdies, and were both VERY impressed. Our server, Dean, was a delight, and very knowledgeable of the menu and preparation of items. We had crab salad, butter lettuce salad, melted goat cheese for appetizers-- all were outstanding. For entrees we shared the Rocky roast chicken (heavenly) and my friend enjoyed the flank steak- he ate every bite and declared it "terrific"! They loved the place and asked, "how did you find this?" We came from Marin, our friend from Palo Alto. Worth the drive! It was my friends birthday so they sang to him and gave him a grapefruit ice and a little glass of after-dinner wine. Very sweet...and thoughtful."

  • "We came to Isa about 6:30 PM. My cousin was visiting SF and we wanted a place to get a good meal and talk. Isa was quiet when we arrived but quickly filled up and we could not hear one another. When the waiter took our order, he told us that the food comes out as it is prepared and it is like tapas. Most people share the food and order 2 entrees. I took him at his word and ordered two entrees. That was TOTALLY unnecessary. One entree was plenty. I ended up taking home the second entree I ordered for another meal another day at home. And I must say I resented ordering it and running my bill up so high. I live on a budget. That being said, the food was delicious. Parking is available at Wells Fargo, but they neglected to mention it costs $13"

  • "All 8 of us had a fantastic dinner experience at Isa recently. I don't think anyone was disappointed in any of the appetizer plates we shared or with any of the main courses that we also passed around (the best way to experience Isa is to share). The flat iron steak that I had was great, and the potato wrapped sea bass that I tried was incredible. Wait staff were very attentive. Definitely a place that I will go back to again."

  • "The food was amazing! We had family-style serving, and I had the chance to taste most of the items on the menu. The Yellowfin Tuna and the Wild Prawn were my favorites for the appetizers. For main entrees, the Duck Breast and the Truffle Risotto really stood out. Now for the happy hour, which seems to be a good catch for only $5, was disappointing. We couldn't taste the alcohol at all. It was so diluted that all we can taste was the fruit juice that came with it. The service is commendable. They keep on giving us bread. This place is highly-recommended, just stay away from the happy hour menu."

  • "My husband and I always come back to Isa and food is always great. By now, we have tried most of their menu, and the quality is always constant. Their Sun-Thurs price fix menu for $30 for 3 courses is especially good deal. Highly recommend!"

  • "You can't go wrong with any of the cocktails at Isa. They are all soju (korean vodka-like beverage) based cocktails mixed to perfection. The citrusy flavor in many of the cocktails pairs perfectly with the seafood. We had the crab salad and asparagus chive cream soup to start followed by the scallops entree. We had been told that the scallops are the one of the most popular things on the menu and I can see why. Bottom line is that Isa has an amazing menu and we will definitely be back!"

  • "I love Isa! Everything that came out was delicious. We ordered a shrimp apppetizer as well as an oyster appetizer and they were both great. Also the beef entree & fish entree were exceptional. Definitely will be back next time we're in San Francisco!"

  • "Isa has 4 stars on Yelp so we decided to give it a try. The food and the service were great. We had a crab salad and a butter lettuce salad that were both excellent. Super fresh, very simple, just elegant enough to be memorable (we are foodies). For dinner we had the scallops and they were cooked to perfection and flavored just right. We got the spaghetti with truffle oil as well. The sauce was so good that our server offered us more bread to wipe it up with, which we happily did. The bread was warm and soft and kept coming. We were surprised that we were so happy with our meal. A real treat. If they just moved to a new location with some space and some ambiance, they would be on the map."

  • "We went for the Dine About Town-4 course meal which started with appetizer, salad, entree and dessert. We had the lopster bisque (good) assorted salad (I had the crab salad) which was fresh. My two dining partners had the short ribs and I had the scallops on a bed of mashed potatoes with brussel sprouts (unusual paiiring but good.) We each had a different dessert. It was a nice atmosphere, but the service was rushed as far as wanting to take our order and "get on with it." Our order taker did not serve us-so that was weird. The best part was the cheap cocktails and wine at Happy Hour- $5! I would go back for Happy Hour or brunch on the patio."

  • "Dined here on a busy night on Valentine's Day. Most of you will not be disappointed by the foods which are strongly inspired by French cuisines. The flavors tend to be more on the stronger side. I would rate it as above average but it is clearly not as refine and well presented as some good one-star Michelin restaurants. One won't expect the portions to be huge in this kind of good restaurants that aim for quality but they are generous enough. The service is quite good and the servers tried to be attentive as much as possible."

  • "I just ate here over the weekend and had an amazing evening at Isa. The staff was phenomenal - we showed up for our reservation almost an hour early hoping to move up our reservation, and they accomodated us in only 15 minutes (just enough time to get a drink at the bar)! We ate out back on the patio which was lovely. The temperature was comfortable even though it was cold outside. The food was PHENOMENAL. We had oysters, baked goat cheese, risotto, and veal sweetbread and everything over delivered. I love the small plate style - allows you to try multiple things without being stuffed. The service was quick and friendly. Overall fantastic - would go back any time!"

  • "Went to Isa while in SF for the first time. Wanted a romantic Valentine's Day spot. Definitely hit the jackpot. When we arrived, we were invited to sit at the bar while our table was prepared- we got there about 20 minutes early. Bartender (who ended up being our waiter) came right over and introduced himself. We found our way to a corner table in minutes. From there on, the experience only continued to get better! The wait staff was superb. This crew clearly loves working together. Constant stream of people stopping over with more plates, checking in, just saying hi, etc was awesome. This was the best food we had in SF hands down. And trust me...get the chocolate souffle for dessert :)"

The truffle risotto and flat iron steak in combination were amazing, the scallops cooked perfectly, with the service perfectly timed to bring a new plate of food just in time to keep everything warm, the table alive, and your stomach full.   • "My SO and I made a reservation for Isa for Valentine's Day, and overall we had a great time. The waitstaff was always around if you needed them, they were very accommodating. Their special Valentine's Day menu had a lot of great options. I order the short they melted in my mouth and were very tender. My SO ordered the duck, it had a great side of spinach, bacon, pinenuts, currants, as well as a yummy sauce. I was only disappointed with dessert; I ordered the flourless chocolate cake which was quite bland. It was not chocolately enough, also it had an odd spongy and sometimes soggy and undercooked quality about it. I'm a big fan of flourless cake; it should be rich in its chocolate flavor, it should be over the top."

Absoutely amazing food. Decadent, rich, tasty, and everything was cooked perfectly."

  • "If you are looking for a restaurant that is not full of Yuppies talking at the top of their voices, has no portions meant for someone on a starvation diet, and has no supercilious waitstaff, this is the place for you. The menu is interesting and well priced. The fixed price dinner is an excellent value and offers a ;wide variety of choices within it. The wait staff is helpful and non intrusive. The food is excellent! If we were in Paris, I would say this is a middle class bistro that maintains a tradition of fine cooking. In San Francisco, this is a rare find, a truly good neighborhood restaurant for an adult night out."

  • "First off our server Jonathan was awesome. On top of everything, great food recommendation and even better wine recommendation. We did the tasting menu which might be the best bargain in San Francisco. We also added the potato wrapped sea bass which was incredible. Sat on the outdoor back veranda. It's covered with heaters and is really comfortable and nice. It's really just a great find and a great value. Will definitely be back."

  • "Best French restaurant I had so far! The restaurant was very busy, was surprised how tiny the kitchen was, and yet no compromise was made to the food quality and service. They are a machine! The food is excellent in taste and technique, they are able to combine French techniques to bring out the best taste out of the freshness of ingredients. I had the best prepared giant sea scallops and mussels dishes ever! Often gets ruined by untrained chefs, but not at Isa. The mussels are still plump & juicy, taste like oysters! Even friend who didn't like mussels came back for more! And the scallop just melts, nuff said. Braised short rib and duck breast were decent, overall good flavor profile, classic French style. Don't recommend the soups."

  • "Dine about town introduced my fiance and myself to Isa! We enjoyed every moment of our experience. The waiter (Justin) was extremely attentive along with his helpers; I was impressed...I never had to remind what I requested! More importantly, our waiter allowed us to enjoy our date night..this was so nice as we've all experienced the pushy waiters/waitresses. We were able to secure an intimate table in the corner by the window...we enjoyed the people watching and our meal with great ambiance! Food was delicious! We brought our own wine and paid the corkage fee which was worth it to us. Overall, a great experience. I lived near the Marina for 5 years and didn't take advantage of cute places like this. Definitely worth a try! Bon Appetite!"

  • "I had been wanting to go to Isa for awhile and finally got around to it last weekend. It was dine about town, and I was worried about the limited menu. However, I was very impressed with the options. My friends and I loved all of our choices. I had the goat cheese appetizers and the spaghetti which were delicious. I was also impressed Isa had a happy hour (something I rarely see in SF!)."

  • "Came here often when I lived in the neighborhood; in the ~2 years since quality and dining experience have gone downhill. Service was incredibly slow and overall lacking. Waited over 15 minutes before drink orders were taken only to be served pinot that smelled like vinegar and clearly came from old/opened bottles. Waited another 10-15 again before our food orders were taken and were 1 hour and 15 min into our reservation by the time the first plates were delivered. We had to stack some of the finished plates ourselves between courses because no one had come to clear them; courses were not delivered altogether; and the kitchen forgot to fire two of our guests' entrees altogether. Overall, disappointing."

  • "I have been going to this restaurant ever since it opened with the original owner Luke Sung. Although it was sold a few years ago they seemed to be able to maintain his standards. Sad to say that is not the case now. I dined there this week and was sorely disappointed at the quality of every dish that we ordered. In this sensei should not be surprised because almost always when the original creator of her restaurant departs the place declines. In this case it just took longer for it to happen. Farewell Isa."
