Diner Reviews
  • "We don't usually go out in Williamsburg for dinner, but found ourselves there Saturday night. The menu is small but the options are healthy, the portions are huge and the food delicious. I don't normally order chicken in wood fire ovens because it tends to be dry but this was incredibly moist and succulent and the yogurt sauce out of this world. The spicy chick peas are also a treat. And, the setting, while rustic and in a trendy neighborhood is perfect for those who might not consider themselves of the hipster set. We will definitely return."

  • "We love Isa's breakfast pizza - the combination of Garlic, panchetta, sunny side up eggs, pizza dough in the brick oven - amazing. However, it felt like they changed the recipe and the garlic sauce was not the same as before (which has a large impact on the Pizzas flavor). I might be wrong about the recipe changing, but in that case they just under-performed this time. Oh, the avocado sandwich is too small :( In any case, great place, great large windows opened to the street make the place feel like it's outdoors, and the staff is great!!"

  • "Thought we'd venture away to Williamsburg for a change of pace. Isa was highly recommended. Though we had a nice time, we wouldn't go back. The gnocchi, which the wait staff said was great, was undercooked and the sauce lacked sausage. In fact, there wasn't enough meat to add any real flavor to the sauce. Two of the guests had the roast chicken. Good, but nothing special. I had the cod. it was delicious, but $28 for 3 oz of fish was outrageous. I'll stick to the restaurants in Carroll Gardens. More interesting creations and better food."

  • "The speck and cheese sandwich was so tasty. The pancakes were so large they could be enough for 4 people... This is a simple place, the staff is super nice, the food was great. Really enjoyed it. "

  • "We had a 6pm reservation on a Saturday and it was lovely. By the time we left the place was very busy. The appetizer list is lovely. Plenty of choices for people who don't like overly done (like me). Our waitress was a nice mix of friendly and giving space. The sparkling wine from Italy is perfect. I'd definitely return. "

  • "I read too many things about this place, and honestly the menu was poor, the food was avarage... The only amazing thing was the price TO EXPENSIVE for what it was. "

  • "Food was great, the drinks took 20 minutes as did any water refill and some drinks came when we were almost done eating or not at all. Disappointing service for the cost of food. "

  • "Great atmosphere, great food, and reasonable prices. I took some visitors from out of town here, and they loved it. The cauliflower appetizer was amazing, and I'm not normally a fan. Also a great bread basket, which is always nice. I had the pizza of the day, which had a spicy fennel sausage and spinach and was excellent. Better than Motorino around the corner in my book! Best of all, the service was all very friendly, and our server was both knowledgeable and impeccably attentive. My only complaint was that the wine list seemed a little pricey relative to the menu, and the beer selection was slim (I understand it's not really the focus, but when the wines are all $50+ bottles it becomes one!). But overall I can't recommend Isa enough!"

  • "Isa is a beautiful little hipster restaurant. Certainly overpriced, but the drinks were creative and great. Food was good and edible and all that -- could have been bigger portions for brunch. Overall, tasty and fun for an occasional brunch."

  • "This place was a really nice find. I live nearby and managed to get a reservation only 2 days in advance, even though they don't take many reservations. Everything we had was delicious - the roasted chicken, the meatballs, the bread. I highly recommend the charred cauliflower - it was great! I know they change their menu frequently, but I believe the meatballs and cauliflower are often there, so have some, since they're yummy."

  • "Love t his place. the staff are so friendly. The food is good and fresh. I have two things that i wish could be improved. I always feel rushed to leave once I'm finished. I know it gets crowded both at brunch and dinners, but I never feel happy when being rushed to leave. Of course I'm being made to feel "time to leave" with a smile, but still, it doesn't feel neighborhood nor gratious nor cool. Noise level sometimes uncomfortable. so loud."

  • "Caught up with a friend of mine over brunch at Isa. It was my first visit here despite living around the corner. Definitely glad we tried it. I had trouble choosing just one dish from the brunch menu because so many dishes appealed to me. Also glad we booked a table as it was nearly full. The wood burning fire makes for a cozy atmosphere and the service was beyond helpful. I will definitely be going back soon!"

  • "The food is mediocre. If you can cook decently, you will not be impressed by any means. I had chicken which I never order because I figure I can cook pretty good chicken. It was Ok, but oily, and just laying on some brussel sprouts that had been cut in half, and half cooked--still hard, and no seasoning / flavor, just oil. I was bummed because I heard that this place was great but I guess that was the case when it first opened but then changed ownership and now it is what it is. In a sea of choices and options, I would not bother with this place--nothing special."

  • "Isa-- we went there with 5 people, 2/4 meals were terrible and 2 were just OK, only one was good. At the end of the meal we told the maitre D 2 of the meals were terrible ( the pasta carbonara was so salty it was inedible) and they did not take either off the bill. I would never go there again or recommend."

  • "Vibe and ambience were nice and my dinner was good (I loved the kale salad, but I was not too crazy about my pasta dish, which had too much melted goat cheese, but that was my fault). However, I will come back to try other dishes."

  • "I dined here recently with my boyfriend. We both loved the rustic decor and the smell wood burning stove. Perfect for a date night or dinner with a few friends."

  • "i've heard a lot of hype about this restaurant and it didn't quite live up to it. it is incredibly noisy which made the experience somewhat unpleasant. there seemed to be an upstairs area so perhaps it is quieter up there. the food was decent, nothing special, and definitely not inexpensive. once again, i can name several manhattan restaurants in a similar or even cheaper price range that far surpass the quality of food and ambiance of this restaurant. i would consider going back during the week when i may not have to overhear multiple conversations while i eat my meal."

  • "Practically pitch black restaurant, terrible drinks, mediocre food. I am a huge fan of Freemans (which is why I tried Isa), so this is SO disappointing."

  • "- Isa's dishes were good, but there was a common theme of inaccurate descriptions of dishes which leads itself to a confused and disappointing dining experience. - Isa's menus must change frequently. So if you see a dish on their online menus, don't count on it being offered when you dine at Isa. - Prosciutto balls - Lacking sufficient prosciutto. So though the flavors in these balls were good, it was an overall disappointment because there wasn’t much prosciutto in them. - Italian cheese cake - Though this was a good cheese cake, naming it "Italian" was a misnomer. Isa's cheesecake had key-lime type of consistency and flavor."

  • "Our family of four went to Isa for Saturday brunch. A completely unexpected treat was a craft room upstairs that was hosted by...someone...I guess I'm not really sure if she was an employee, or a volunteer, or there on contract, or what. It was a really nice surprise though. Kids and adults alike are invited to participate. The restaurant design is top notch as I'm sure you've read. The staff was friendly and the food was very good. We were out of town visitors and this was one of the best meals of the trip."

  • "i'm a really good cook and rarely go out to eat. so when i do, my expectations are pretty high. isa delighted and comforted me. the tastes still linger - especially the roasted kale salad. left feeling satisfied on many levels."

  • "We live in the area and absolutely adore the vibe and staff at Isa. The food is delicious and delivers consistently. The Isa team is friendly, laid back, and helpful. Outdoor seating and a cozy inside seating (fireplace!) make Isa an all-weather spot for brunch or dinner!"

  • "I have now dined at Isa two times, I feel their appetizers, pizza's (especially their homemade pastas) and pizza's with their amazing home cooked bread is the way to go. On my most recent dining experience there, my husband and I shared the steak, while we ordered it medium/rare, it definitely came out on the rare side, and was not anything amazing. My mother ordered the fish special, and it was lacking in flavour. Even with these two hick-ups, I would definitely go back to Isa, as their pasta's are AMAZING, along with the focaccia bread, also the meatballs from the appetizers are very yummy indeed. All in all, I would stick to the appetizers, pizza and pasta's while dining at Isa - in my humble experience!"

  • "Isa has figured out that a true foodie just wants beautiful amalgamations of seasonal flavors. The experience is not overshadowed by a chemistry lesson or visually loud decor. The food score lacks a star due to some technical issues; however the experience is great and I found myself wishing I lived around the corner so I could make a regular haunt of this cozy haven."

  • "The food was very good. The service was good. It seemed a little slow for a Thursday evening. The surprise was the cocktail menu. It was oddly Top Gun themed, but the quality and creativity of the drinks blew us away. Favorites included the Ice Man and the Viper. Everyone loved their (multiple) beverages."

  • "Really enjoyed this restaurant. Menu choices limited to a 4-5 choices per course but food was very well prepared and delicious with fresh ingredients. The wait staff were very friendly. The ambience is very casual with simple wood furniture with outdoor seating available in an area overlooking the kitchen area."

  • "I've been to Isa before and everything we ordered was amazing from the food to the service. That was not the case this last time. Non of the meats that were ordered were very good (neither the stake or the pork). The pizza was the best option. Our server was very nice but she lost 2 of our umbrellas (they weren't the 5 dollar kind) which didn't help with our experience. I would give this place one more chance since the first time I went I had such a good experience."

  • "We took our kids for brunch and it was a nice experience. The menu Was fun with varied choices. The only setback were the delicious ricotta Pancakes, were not enough. However, service was great . It is a fun Restaurant and I actually really enjoyed the open kitchen design. It makes For a warm inviting and inclusive dining experience. Lastly and also As important were great cocktails. I look forward to having dinner there."

  • "Cute spot but food on the menu is nothing great just like their shoddy menus printed via an ink jet printer. You would think with the effort the artist put into the menu design the same effort would be put in conveying it, or maybe thats the irony? Best bet is to order the specials of the day which were fantastic. Hipster vibe seethes through the neighborhood so just accept with a grain of salt this place is THE hipster hang. Not my cup of tea but there is something to be said about the effort taken to have a quaint log cabin in the middle of Brooklyn."
