This place was a really nice find.
I live nearby and managed to get a reservation only 2 days in advance, even though they don't take many reservations. Everything we had was delicious - the roasted chicken, the meatballs, the bread. I highly recommend the charred cauliflower - it was great! I know they change their menu frequently, but I believe the meatballs and cauliflower are often there, so have some, since they're yummy."

Don't sacrifice quality just
because you have to bring your kids. Great brunch. Very kid friendly. Also love that you can make a rez for brunch."

Food was out of this world yummy -
they really know how to blend herbs well - and decor was romantic and cozy, too."

Delicious food, friendly service
and great atmosphere! Highly recommend."

Love t his place. the staff are so
friendly. The food is good and fresh. I have two things that i wish could be improved. I always feel rushed to leave once I'm finished. I know it gets crowded both at brunch and dinners, but I never feel happy when being rushed to leave. Of course I'm being made to feel "time to leave" with a smile, but still, it doesn't feel neighborhood nor gratious nor cool. Noise level sometimes uncomfortable. so loud."

Caught up with a friend of mine
over brunch at Isa. It was my first visit here despite living around the corner. Definitely glad we tried it. I had trouble choosing just one dish from the brunch menu because so many dishes appealed to me. Also glad we booked a table as it was nearly full. The wood burning fire makes for a cozy atmosphere and the service was beyond helpful. I will definitely be going back soon!"

The food is mediocre. If you can
cook decently, you will not be impressed by any means. I had chicken which I never order because I figure I can cook pretty good chicken. It was Ok, but oily, and just laying on some brussel sprouts that had been cut in half, and half cooked--still hard, and no seasoning / flavor, just oil. I was bummed because I heard that this place was great but I guess that was the case when it first opened but then changed ownership and now it is what it is. In a sea of choices and options, I would not bother with this place--nothing special."

Isa-- we went there with 5 people,
2/4 meals were terrible and 2 were just OK, only one was good. At the end of the meal we told the maitre D 2 of the meals were terrible ( the pasta carbonara was so salty it was inedible) and they did not take either off the bill. I would never go there again or recommend."
Dined on 1/12/2014
Vibe and ambience were nice and my
dinner was good (I loved the kale salad, but I was not too crazy about my pasta dish, which had too much melted goat cheese, but that was my fault). However, I will come back to try other dishes."

Amazing food, nice service in a
cool rustic log-cabin ambiance"

We had dinner at Isa before
heading to a few local bars for New Years Eve .. the food was terrific, the crowd was equally as good.. we'll be back and definitely recommend it!"

I dined here recently with my
boyfriend. We both loved the rustic decor and the smell wood burning stove. Perfect for a date night or dinner with a few friends."

i've heard a lot of hype about
this restaurant and it didn't quite live up to it. it is incredibly noisy which made the experience somewhat unpleasant. there seemed to be an upstairs area so perhaps it is quieter up there. the food was decent, nothing special, and definitely not inexpensive. once again, i can name several manhattan restaurants in a similar or even cheaper price range that far surpass the quality of food and ambiance of this restaurant. i would consider going back during the week when i may not have to overhear multiple conversations while i eat my meal."

Practically pitch black
restaurant, terrible drinks, mediocre food. I am a huge fan of Freemans (which is why I tried Isa), so this is SO disappointing."

- Isa's dishes were good, but
there was a common theme of inaccurate descriptions of dishes which leads itself to a confused and disappointing dining experience. - Isa's menus must change frequently. So if you see a dish on their online menus, don't count on it being offered when you dine at Isa. - Prosciutto balls - Lacking sufficient prosciutto. So though the flavors in these balls were good, it was an overall disappointment because there wasn’t much prosciutto in them. - Italian cheese cake - Though this was a good cheese cake, naming it "Italian" was a misnomer. Isa's cheesecake had key-lime type of consistency and flavor."

Took a group of 8 gals here for a
bachelorette party. Couldn't have been happier. Food was amazing, service was great!"

Our family of four went to Isa for
Saturday brunch. A completely unexpected treat was a craft room upstairs that was hosted by...someone...I guess I'm not really sure if she was an employee, or a volunteer, or there on contract, or what. It was a really nice surprise though. Kids and adults alike are invited to participate. The restaurant design is top notch as I'm sure you've read. The staff was friendly and the food was very good. We were out of town visitors and this was one of the best meals of the trip."

i'm a really good cook and rarely
go out to eat. so when i do, my expectations are pretty high. isa delighted and comforted me. the tastes still linger - especially the roasted kale salad. left feeling satisfied on many levels."

We live in the area and absolutely
adore the vibe and staff at Isa. The food is delicious and delivers consistently. The Isa team is friendly, laid back, and helpful. Outdoor seating and a cozy inside seating (fireplace!) make Isa an all-weather spot for brunch or dinner!"

I have now dined at Isa two times,
I feel their appetizers, pizza's (especially their homemade pastas) and pizza's with their amazing home cooked bread is the way to go. On my most recent dining experience there, my husband and I shared the steak, while we ordered it medium/rare, it definitely came out on the rare side, and was not anything amazing. My mother ordered the fish special, and it was lacking in flavour. Even with these two hick-ups, I would definitely go back to Isa, as their pasta's are AMAZING, along with the focaccia bread, also the meatballs from the appetizers are very yummy indeed. All in all, I would stick to the appetizers, pizza and pasta's while dining at Isa - in my humble experience!"

Isa has figured out that a true
foodie just wants beautiful amalgamations of seasonal flavors. The experience is not overshadowed by a chemistry lesson or visually loud decor. The food score lacks a star due to some technical issues; however the experience is great and I found myself wishing I lived around the corner so I could make a regular haunt of this cozy haven."

The food was very good. The
service was good. It seemed a little slow for a Thursday evening. The surprise was the cocktail menu. It was oddly Top Gun themed, but the quality and creativity of the drinks blew us away. Favorites included the Ice Man and the Viper. Everyone loved their (multiple) beverages."

Really enjoyed this restaurant.
Menu choices limited to a 4-5 choices per course but food was very well prepared and delicious with fresh ingredients. The wait staff were very friendly. The ambience is very casual with simple wood furniture with outdoor seating available in an area overlooking the kitchen area."

Had a terrific meal at ISA. Yummy
and interesting food. Great service in a lovely ambiance."

I've been to Isa before and
everything we ordered was amazing from the food to the service. That was not the case this last time. Non of the meats that were ordered were very good (neither the stake or the pork). The pizza was the best option. Our server was very nice but she lost 2 of our umbrellas (they weren't the 5 dollar kind) which didn't help with our experience. I would give this place one more chance since the first time I went I had such a good experience."

We took our kids for brunch and it
was a nice experience. The menu Was fun with varied choices. The only setback were the delicious ricotta Pancakes, were not enough. However, service was great . It is a fun Restaurant and I actually really enjoyed the open kitchen design. It makes For a warm inviting and inclusive dining experience. Lastly and also As important were great cocktails. I look forward to having dinner there."

Cute spot but food on the menu is
nothing great just like their shoddy menus printed via an ink jet printer. You would think with the effort the artist put into the menu design the same effort would be put in conveying it, or maybe thats the irony? Best bet is to order the specials of the day which were fantastic. Hipster vibe seethes through the neighborhood so just accept with a grain of salt this place is THE hipster hang. Not my cup of tea but there is something to be said about the effort taken to have a quaint log cabin in the middle of Brooklyn."

My two sons, my wife and I had an
excellent time at Isa — super food, attentive wait staff and a vibrant atmosphere. It's a bit out of the way (and a long way from home for one of my sons and my wife and me who live in Toronto.) I recommend the chicken dish and the specials . . . and the super panna cotta for dessert."

This was one of our favorite
neighborhood restaurants and haven't been there for awhile. SO DISAPPOINTED! Food came out before cocktails. Cocktails were watery. No bread offered but it is yummy and when we asked about it were sent home with some. Salad was overdressed and the portions of fried artichoke were teeny in it. Overpriced for mostly greens! Good steak and fingerlings. We love the grilled food, especially the fava beans and the nice atmosphere but probably won't be back, sadly."

I have been to this restaurant
times in the hopes the food would get better. It hasnt. Most of the food has been bland. Although my chicken entree was pretty good the last time I had it. The service staff are very nice but seem to be overwhelmed. It took a very long time to order drinks and food. I think they need to hire more people or rethink their system. The ambiance is exceptional and I hear brunch is great. So I will give them one last try and maybe change my review after that."

Fabulous bar tender, took my
boyfriend and his mom to go hipster sighting here for an early Sat. dinner. The bar tender didn't blink when I asked him for a bloody mary at 6:00PM and joked with me and my BF's mom. The agnolotti pasta was hearty and just what I was in the mood for. Early dinner is laid-back, the crowds descend starting 7:30. I would go back for the chocolate mousse alone."

Isa has a rotating seasonal menu
in a hip and welcoming rustically decorated restaurant (since my reservation Isa has won the James Beard award for restaurant design. Awesome!), I had the fish of the day which were scallops cooked with subtle perfection, juicy center with a barely there crispness on the outside. The chocolate mousse is out of this world amazing (haven't had better since eating the famous dessert at ChezJanou in Paris in 2010). Be sure to make reservations as they get crazy busy during prime time hours."

place is cute, the food was good
but not excellent - steak was particularly chewy, which surprised us as we had been told it would be exceptional. Nice drinks."
Dined on 5/3/2013
They have 2 areas. One is around
the bar and the other is pretty much in the kitchen. Their menu is special with unexpected combinations. Great flavours and local produce. Cocktails are outstanding. Service is professinal and quick. It was my 3rd time here and I always love it as well as any guests I bring along."
Dined on 4/25/2013
The food was average, the service
was alright, the hostess acted like she was our best friend from high school, but the noise was terrible! We sat by kitchen in between two coupes who just talked nonsense at the top if their lungs! The heating and air vent went on and off the whole time while the big windows were open. Even though it was lively and local there was nothing special, it's a shame the potential was there but there was something just not right."
Dined on 4/25/2013
The I liked the music and the
location. But I guess that was everything. The pizza was burned, the steak was like a shoe sole and we couldnt' even see the food really good, as it was so dark. The waitress let us almost an hour wait for our table without saying sorry and the waiter felt like upset when we asked for a coke. they don't have any softdrinks which is actually okay. but we felt after our question unconfortable. Unfortunately the cashier always gave us new invoice after someone paid, which made paying the invoice really complicated for a group of 7. Also the employees didn't ask if we liked the food or not. Saw the recommendation at Gwenyth Paltrow's blog but I am very disappointed."

Great space. Upstairs for larger
parties. Food was great, excellent wine list, not a huge selection, but good choices. Highly recommend."
Dined on 4/19/2013
Great restaurant, great food, nice
service. The only bad point is the food is TOO SALTY. You can see the quantity of salt they put (kitchen is open on the dining room) and it is crazy to put that much ! I had to wake up a few times during the night to drink water. Next time I will definitely ask for no salt in my food."
Dined on 4/5/2013
The food and service were great.
My only complaint is that it took a while to get seated even though we had reservations."
Dined on 4/4/2013
Great overall vibe. Looks and
feels like a cabin in the woods. Beautiful wood details. Food was very good but nothing particularly different. Good home cooking and very health conscious. I like that a lot. A bit expensive on some of the dishes but overall good price range. Pizzas are excellent!"
