Irving St KitchenFavorite Brunch spot!We always love their brunches, always the best, never disappointed.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food and serviceThis was our first visit following recommendation from friends.
Our server was very knowledgable, energetic and great fun.
The food was awesome. If you have a big appetite suggest you get an apertizer as some portions many be small for a hearty eater.
We had a wonderful evening.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AM"I love the relaxed feel of"I love the relaxed feel of this place Our server was helpful from drink selection to our dinner choices. . I definitely would return to try more dishes. The corn chowder I enjoyed my girls both enjoyed the fried clams along with the salmon. Their dinners were amazing the Squid ink risotto and the lamb. I was not so impressed with the halibut thought the portion was small and just not that impressive flavors. Service was well-timed and friendly, and I would try it again.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat time!We were a party of five and, gratefully, were placed in a booth. Food and service were very good. Wine very expensive.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMnew findlucky were we to be shuffled toward this gem, where the food is exquisite, the waitstaff perfect and the restaurant designed for quiet elegance.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great restaurant!!Awesome food, great service and a really cool space! Anne (our server) was really knowledgeable and good!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a consistently highThis is a consistently high quality Brunch, in fact I'll go so far as to say the best Portland has to offer. The evening menu is also
very innovative but also understandable which is increasingly an issue in Portland5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMUltimate Date NightSquid ink risotto. Beet tartare. Ken's bread. Saffron potatoes. A flight of ancient Madeiras. The much-fabled butterscotch pudding. All of these things and more came to and left our table. When presented with the menu we asked if there were any specials; we were told the menu changes pretty much daily. Even parking was easier than expected, with a slew of spots available within a block of the restaurant on a Friday evening. Can't wait to find another special reason to visit.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the Effort to Find ItIrving St Kitchen was a real find on our recent trip to Portland. Everything on the menu seemed like it'd be a winner and what we had sure was. Interestingly, they serve wine directly from a barrel and $60 for a 750ml carafe (actually a Mason Jar) seemed pricey before we tasted it. Bottled it would have competed favorably with Silver Oak, Caymus and others in that class - at $60 it was a steal. The restaurant isn't fancy, in fact it tries hard not to be, but the food, wine and service were top-notch.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers dayOutdoor seating was nice but somewhat close together. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was very good. I had the Skillet Eggs & House Andouille Grillades, Creamy Grits, Spring Onions. Very tasty loved the creamy grits. Also had one of their award winning Bloody Mary's. It was very good.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location for weekend brunchI highly recommend reserving one of their private booths. We fit a party of 5 comfortably and enjoyed being "tucked away". Our server Clement was fantastic and very attentive. Everything we had for brunch was delicious.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOK, they won us over.Irving Street is in many ways a delightful mash-up of the small- plate concept with a more traditional hearty-entree menu. They offer both. They also offer a unique range of flavors from kale salad, southern style biscuits, delicate fish, earthy pork, marinated lamb, perfectly seared tuna- something for everyone.
We have found the food to be consistently well prepared and presented. The service staff is attentive and informed.
Our only complaint is that have the most over-priced wine list in town. Really, it is ridiculous. They almost require you to pay $14 per glass. I don't mind the $14 as an option, but they need to offer a broader range of wine prices.
That said, this is a great place for a really good meal.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner with friends!Excellent service and food; large, interesting space conducive to lingering at the table savoring delicious wine and the company of friends. We will definitely come back to Irving Street Kitchen.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent excellenceI've been to Irving Street Kitchen many times with multiple groups. My Portland Center Stage group dined there before the theatre on Friday, and we all had excellent food. We had a full meal but had plenty of time to walk to the theatre without feeling rushed. Standout appetizers were the asparagus, the clams, and muscle bisque. Wonderful entrees included the the lamb, the pork, and the tuna. It is a beautiful place and it was a wonderful warm night with the roll up doors all open to the outside. All in all, a wonerful dining experience (as usual).5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch!I met a friend at ISK for Sunday brunch. She had recommended it and I understand why. Overall, everything was wonderful. Amanda our server was friendly and very knowledgeable when I was trying to decide between the Dutch pancake and the French toast. I'm glad I went with the Dutch pancake, (although I'm sure the French toast is delicious). I lean more towards savory dishes and Amanda's advice helped me decide. My friend and I both had a limey buggar in observance of Cinco de Mayo (it had tequila in it!). I had made a reservation the night before but there were several open tables at 10:45 so we would have been seated right away even without a reservation. I definitely want to come back and try their lunch and dinner options.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved this place! The food was great, the place is physically modern but inviting, our waiter knew his menu and his food. He was honest about what was the best and what was good but maybe not as outstanding as the star. Much appreciated.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAll-around fabulous!First off....the service was awesome! Patrick was FANTASTIC! He was so knowledgeable and personable! He truly made our evening. Second, the food was fabulous! Our table enjoyed the Fried Chicken, the Poached Halibut and two orders of the Slow Cooked Pork Crepinette (thanks for the recommendation Patrick!); there wasn't a morsel left on any of our plates. We all loved our desserts, but hands down the best was the Black Bottom Butterscotch Pudding, Salted Caramel Sauce, Peanut Brittle (thanks, again, for the recommendation Patrick!). We all agreed that this has been one of our most favorite dining experiences in Portland!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFor a Sunday lunch this wasFor a Sunday lunch this was very nice. Made online reservations and only waited a few minutes to get seated. I did have a hard time hearing the waiter over the background noise. Food was excellent!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood excellent, wonderfulFood excellent, wonderful meat and fish dishes. Service so so, just passed, maybe it was the waitress.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI rated this higher than II rated this higher than I actually would have if this had been my only visit to Irving St. I've been before for dinner and it was great. Brunch, on the other hand was just okay. Service was great except she forgot our donuts but no biggie. I will go back for dinner but probably not for brunch.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service inGreat food and service in a unique setting. Make sure you have the butterscotch pudding
