Kelly and the Sugar BandKelly and the Sugar Band were great! The food was also great. Shrimp and Gritts, the way to go. Good Time!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time visit will not be lastWith a recommendation from a friend who formerly lived in Raleigh, we made reservations and dined at the Irregardless Cafe on Friday, June 14, 2013. We arrived a bit early and enjoyed cocktails at the bar, then were seated by 6PM. Within minutes, the entire restaurant filled up. Food was outstanding and extremely reasonable. Service exceptional, and the Jazz duo began to play before we left. Awesome, awesome, awesome.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food + music In TriangleI love good healthy, local food and am a huge jazz fan. It's not always jazz there, but the night I went I lucked out. The jazz was exceptional and the food was great.
I was last there in the 70s when I was in grad school at NCSU. I remembered the place fondly. Returning after so many years, it did not disappoint.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat vegetarian foodI went there with my family, between the awesome food and music, my 5 yr old son had a blast.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMdeliciousone of the best vegetarian menus I've come across-- and very affordable compared to other upscale dining locations.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Excellent At A Fair Cost!Overall excellent food preparation and great service. Only problem on occasions may be dining as a party of two - tables very close and impossible to have a private conversation. Outside of the close tables, this restaurant is sure to please. Music on Fridays and Saturdays is very nice but loud because of the size of the restaurant.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Time!Irregardless is a good place for yummy food (especially the dessert) and great music.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was delicious and I enjoyedFood was delicious and I enjoyed listening to the music. Some of the tables are a little too close. You feel as if you are part of the other table's conversation which is a little uncomfortable.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMnice experienceloved atmoshere, menu and a great sangria that was one of the specials. Even though everyone enjoyed their food, live music and atmoshere this would not be a place I would dine frequently because of prices.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous ExperienceOur server Georgia timed everything perfectly. She was not obtrusive at all and was right there when we needed something. The Middle Eastern Platter was very delicious. The entree's (Smoked Brisket and Salmon) were cooked perfectly. I didn't care too much for the kugel though. It was not because it wasn't prepared properly, I just didn't like it. The flourless chocolate cake (more like a torte) was OVER THE TOP! This is one place we will be returning to to try more items.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNice mealMy wife and I ate here on a Friday night. The appetizers and deserts were great. I wished my appetizer was an entree. Our entrees were very good, but not extraordinary. The entree prices are a little high for what you get and for the atmosphere -- it's very casual. I wouldn't go here for an anniversary meal or anything. I would eat here again if a group of friends really wanted to go, but it's not somewhere I plan to go frequently.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMRegarding IrregardlessMy husband and I have now dined here for brunch and dinner. For brunch, it's the best deal going and includes your beverage. For dinner, the seating was a bit snug. We were seated at a two-person table that was pushed so close to the one next to us that we heard more of the couple's conversation next to us than we could of our own without leaning in toward the middle of our table for better earshot. It also made having any sort of private or personal conversation over dinner impossible. The food was good, and I appreciate all of the vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options. However, for dinner, it was not a place to linger over conversation with dessert and coffee afterward due to the extreme proximity of our dining neighbors.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the BestWell, it was restaurant week in Raleigh and they had their Chili Relleno on the menu so we had to make a reservation. It was great as usual. Food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. You know it was one of the best as there wasn't an empty table in the place. My wife used to work up the street and she would have lunch regularly. She was never disappointed. This is our go to place when we are attending a downtown concert or a play at NC State.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant Week ReviewOur group of six chose the Irregardless Cafe due primarily to their selection of vegetarian and vegan meal selections as well as standard meat and seafood choices. All of the meals including the appetizers and desserts were enjoyed by our group. Five entrees were selected including salmon, Morgan Street Chicken, beef brisket, vegetarian shepard's pie, and vegetarian chile. All dishes were well prepared and well presented and described as delicious by our group. We were immediately greeted upon entering, our reservation was acknowledged, and we were seated at the table that had been prepared and ready for our arrival. The waitress service and busing staff were well trained and performed their tasks well without being intrusive.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly noisyVery good food, of course, and truly excellent service. It's just a lovely restaurant. However, we did not expect live music at 7 p.m. and it was very loud. The musician had a wonderful voice and her song selection was terrific, but it was hard to talk around. The web site mentioned live music, but not until 9 p.m. I'll happily go back but will try to remember to check with the restaurant first - maybe there is no music that early, earlier in the week.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMhighly recommendedFood was delicious and artfully prepared. I was especially impressed with the presentation. Service was attentive, without being intrusive.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNicoleDelicious food! Amazing service! Definitely will go back.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAn option for everyoneWe had a GNO at Irregardless on a week day night. As always, the menu offering ranged from vegan to meat and potato. The dishes are creative and delicious.
Our entire party didn't arrive at one time. The hostess was happy to seat an incomplete party. We didn't ask and wouldn't have accepted but that there were several tables yet available and no patrons waiting. The server was attentive and didn't rush us along in ordering or eating.
It was a wonderfully relaxing experience. I can't wait to return.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat eveningWe went there for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The food and service was great. This place is great for special events or just a great evening out. Highly recommend it.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat placethe food was great and the service was awesome. i recommend this place to everyone6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIrregardless has always beenIrregardless has always been a gem in Raleigh and the food is always very good. However, to accommodate the growing clientele the place has become too cramped with the tables being too close to each other so much so that I had to actually get out of my chair to let another person pass for her to get to her table which happened to be right next to ours. The noise level is incredibly high and we were very close to the stage but we had a hard time hearing the musicians. I probably will go back again and again because of the food.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGoing again and againThis is the 4th time I have eatten at this place. It has some of the best food around. There is a nice relaxing atmosphere. The good is really good and they have a good drink selection.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat mealWe had a large group of 8 on a Friday night and they were great about handling the group. No issues having seperate checks and service was great! Chili Relleno vegetarian dinner was awesome!!! Mahi seafood special was great too.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth driving forWe drive from out of town occasionally specifically to eat here. There is a great variety of food, and is especially vegetarian-friendly. The service is very good. We especially like the live music and dancing on Saturday nights.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Vegan FoodI am a meat eater who is turning toward the Vegetarian/Vegan lifestyle and so for my wife's b-day we decided to go to Irregardless Cafe and try an all Vegan meal! It was terrific. We had the Vietnamese Spring Rolls, the Roasted Tofu Salad and I had the Shepard's Pie, while my wife had the Chile Rellanos! Everything was incredible! The taste was great, the presentation was fabulous and the portions were ridiculous! I would highly recommend this downtown icon to any and everyone!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely meal, with wonderfulLovely meal, with wonderful service, although our table was in a noisy area, we all still enjoyed ourselves5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeI go to Irregardless for the food, which never fails me. It is always healthy (for eating out at least), filling, and awesome tasting. The service is spotty. This time, our server didn't come over once within the course of the meal and thus we were not given more water the whole meal. One of our pet peeves. But otherwise, servers are always nice and bring the food out quickly. Servers in the past have been consistent about coming by and checking on us. It's always pretty noisy at Irregardless, but the background music helps to dim the talking a bit. Despite the noise, it still feels romantic inside. All in all, a bit pricy, but worth it for the food and atmosphere. :-)5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb, as always!I came to irregardless the first time soon after it opened, and I continue to come back. Every visit to irregardless is a special occasion for us!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMy table to closeOur table was just to close to the tables next to us. I was never comfortable having a conversation with my wife as we were always hearing the conversation about 1-2 feet on both side of us. The desert was okay and the coffee really wasn't hot. I will be back soon, just make the tables for two a little farther apart. ?5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat AtmosphereGood food, great location and excellent background music. Loved the band and had a great time at dinner with friends. Would recommend. Service was a little slow but food was great.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAtmosphere was perfect andAtmosphere was perfect and the service was "spot on". Everything that was recommended was great. From the cocktails to the entree our server assisted us in selecting the items that were right for us.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways perfect! We LOVE Irregardless! As soon as I leave I am scheming how to go back very soon!! I am a vegetarian so this is Heaven to me!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific! Our entrees were delicious and beautifully presented. I had the fish cakes, and they were just great! Everyone thought his meal delicious. Our server made sure that we were finished when we needed to leave and expedited our service to meet this end. The service was very attentive without being intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousThe menu is very diverse and everything we had was great. Can't wait to return and try more things on the menu!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic! What a great place! The food was awesome, the wine was well matched, the ambiance was classy and romantic, and the live music was just enough to be enjoyable without disturbing conversation. We stayed until they cleared out the dance floor around 10, and danced our way to a perfect evening. This may be our new favorite restaurant.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth visiting! We made reservations & I would suggest anyone going for dinner do the same - they get busy starting around 6pm - but it's not required. They usually have one or two musicians playing music, and it is a clean facility with a few outdoor tables. Wait staff was attentive and courteous. The menu is geared towards vegan/vegetarian with gluten free options, but they have meat dishes as well. Our food was very good & the desserts were delicious! We've visited in the past for Sunday brunch and thought the food was just as yummy. The only negative is that some of the tables are positioned rather close to each other so private dining isn't really an option.
This restaurant is good to have on your list of places to dine out!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always Arthur Gordon'sAs always Arthur Gordon's Irregardless provided a great environment for conversation with friends. The food and service were excellent, and the trio playing music in the background provided a nostalgic vibe.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWish I Had Come Back SoonerMy husband and I have not been to Irregardless Cafe for at least 15 years. We re-discovered it with friends who wanted a good vegetarian selection. The IC experience was quite good from highly capable staff to delicious food. The prices are reasonable. The only minor glitch was that my husband waited a while for the glass of wine he ordered when his meal arrived. The noise level is loud with the nightly entertainment so go early if you prefer a quiet atmosphere.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall plates not up to snuffWe've long loved Irregardless, mostly because the food is so innovative and delicious, but this last Thursday night the chicken kabobs were tough as were the lamb samplings. Soups and salad were terrific as usual. Nobody's perfect so we'll come back, but we thought you ought to know.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMchile rellenosI cannot get over how good the chile relleno is! And the hummus! And the garden salad with lemon tahini dressing...and the ambience! Irregardless is a gem. The food, the staff and the ambience converge to make a consistently great and nourishing dining experience. There are many great restaurants in the triangle but Irregardless remains our favorite! We also really enjoyed the harp music on our evening there.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLove to listen to live musicLove to listen to live music while dining. It adds to the experience.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat time at IrregardlessThe layout, service and feel were perfect. The food could have been a little better (our omeletes were a little bland), but overall we really enjoyed the restaurant.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceI've been to Irregardless several times and enjoyed it on each occasion. This Saturday, however, my family and I celebrated my graduation with a brunch there and it was beyond satisfactory. My parents had never been and were so impressed that they are interested in coming back (a statement that means a lot since the menu is priced a little higher than we normally pay).
Very charming, awesome food, good service, peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. You can't go wrong. We will be back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous EntreesI had not been tothe Irregardless Cafe for a while and was pleasantly surprised at the menu. There were a lot of choices and we loved our entrees. I had the Morgan Street Chicken which was a flattened chicken breast with a delicate crunchy crust nicely seasoned! My sister had the Steak in Peppercorn Sauce and it could not have been more delicious. There cobbler dessert was also very good. Service was exceptional and it was a busy night! The music did not take over as it had in the past. Compliments to the Chef!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFun and differentWaitress was helpful, food was very good, and dessert was great5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food at a Turtle's PaceThe food was excellent, and the order was exactly right. The noise-level feels a little bar-scene for such a quaint place, but if you have great hearing, then you should be okay! I was surprised to see live music on a Tuesday night, but in a good way. The service was quite slow and initially, despite a reservation, there was no initial acknowledgement that we had come in. After that, the waiter kept apologizing for being so slow, but didn't speed it up much. As we were not in a hurry, it didn't matter much in the end. The excellent vegetarian/vegan options and the tasty dessert made it all worth the wait.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI do wish you could hear theI do wish you could hear the band, but because of all the noise of the patrons talking, it was impossible...5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOrrRegardlessVery good food great atmosphere and service. Dry good5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAs others have mentioned,As others have mentioned, the turnover rate at Irregardless Cafe is variable, based on the live music of the day. There were no tables for 2 available when we arrived, so we took a "shelf table" in the bar area. We felt a little crammed, the wait staff were frequently working right in front of us, and our view of the musician was partially obstructed. However, my husband and I enjoyed sitting side by side for a change. We had the Vidalia Onion flatbread, which was quite good though perhaps a little oily, Seafood Linguini and Paella, which were both delicious, but not the best we've had, and the Lemon Semi-Freddo, a very unique and refreshing dessert - I highly recommend it!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWould go back if I was in the areaWe had a group of six ranging from 12 y.o. to 67 y.o. and I can say everyone found something he or she liked. We had a wide range of foods from every section of the menu. The portions were generous and everything seemed very fresh. They happily split some of the salads for us because we wanted to try some of the dinner salads rather than typical side salads. Interestingly, my daughter's Sprite was brought to the table in single serve glass bottle from Mexico. Apparently, they use real cane sugar in Mexico rather than high fructose corn syrup. So the restaurant has the soda brought in from Mexico! There was a talented musician playing guitar who added wonderful background music rather than being a loud distraction.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
