West Coast BBQ means we've taken the best rubs, sauces and BBQ cooking techniques from across the country and put them on a single menu for you. BBQ many not have been invented on the West Coast, but we'd like to think we perfected it. Come see for yourself!

  • "I feel like the owner of this place opened up Ironside to cater specifically to my interests. They brew delicious Four Barrell coffee, serve up some pretty good BBQ (for being outside of the southern United States) and their brunch was quite good as well. I work nearby and come in here at least once a week for something."

  • "Dined here on a Friday night. The place was busy but not packed. I ordered chicken and my partner ordered brisket. The sides we tried were cole slaw, grits, and beans. The portions were very reasonable: we both cleaned our plates but we were not hungry afterwards. The slaw was spicy and awesome. The BBQ sauce was the kind we like: smoky not sweet, mildly spiced. We will definitely return."

  • "Giants game night, Aug 12. On OpenTable we could only reserve for a maximum part of 8 people. I called and left a message telling the restaurant we would be fine if they needed top split our party. Never heard back. Our group showed up at different times. They seated the first four to arrive. When the remaining six arrived, a hostess was nowhere to be found. I asked a member of the wait staff for assistance and was brusquely told to wait for "Ginger." From that point, service was indifferent, borderline rude. Added an 18% gratuity to the check. We paid in cash. One of the staff chased us down the street claiming we had shorted the check $20. More likely the person confronting us pocketed the $20. Not going back."

  • "Convenient for a pre-game bite to eat. Their vegetable Cubano sandwiches are terrific!"

  • "The food was cold and tasteless. The ribs and brisket were dry and gray looking. We got there around 5:00 pm when you expect the food to at itsa best. Also I doubt the meet was even BBQ'd! The server was just as bad as the food. I will never go again."

  • "This place was fun and accomodating! I highly recommend brunch this to anyone."

  • "The tempura fried avocado is so good. However the BBQ & Pulled Pork needs improvement; I would not recommend ordering either of those. The service is great, very accommodating; a member of our dining party was one of those difficult types, however the servers were very patience & courteous. "

  • "this place is really a bar that serves food. there are picnic tables, mostly near the door, which is left open to the cold night air. there's a tv w/sports on, so it's noisy, depending on the game. the food was no great shakes, with the exception of the fried avocado wedges, which were exceptional, and seemed pricey. the sides looked interesting: mac n' cheese, cowboy beans, but not so much. they do have salads, rarely found at bbq places, but didn't have them. bbq ribs and chix was ok, sauce thin and harsh-tasting, which is an important component in bbq. if you want a sports bar ambiance w/some food, it's fine. if you want serious bbq, I'd go to baby blues bbq in the mission. much better, good sides, except for the cornbread."

  • "The brunch food was great and I loved the set up but it seemed they only had two wait staff on duty that day-one upstairs and one downstairs. Our waitress upstairs didn't come to our table to get our drink order so we finally just went downstairs to the buffet and got our food, then I had to go locate the waitress to get our drinks. But the food was a home run. I loved it and would go back for that alone! "

  • "I'd love to review other aspects of this restaurant but haven't made it in for anything other than brunch. Great southern food, quick friendly service. What's not to like?"

  • "Serves me right for trying something other than seafood in San Francisco. This is a good place but not great in terms of BBQ joints. The portions are definitely good size but the quality of the BBQ is average. Good local beer selection."

  • "Service was great and explained their favorites. Food was pretty good, had the pulled pork (great) and brisket (not bad)."

  • "Great place to meet for BBQ fare on your way to a giants game. Very reasonably priced, solid BBQ selection (there is even enough things on the menu for a vegetarian - how about tempura avocado?) and a decent selection of draft beers too. What more can you ask for on your way to a b-ball game...."

  • "Really good food for a buffet, I think due to the fact they cook in small batches so it's pretty much always fresh. Great price & friendly servers, what's not to like?"

  • "Found this place after a Giants game one afternoon. Very cool restaurant, the service was great, and the feel of the place was very comfortable. The food however, is where my opinion went south. Unfortunately, the dry rub they use for their meats is just way too much for me. Even with sips of water in between bites I still had a strong coating of it in my palate. It was just way too many spices. It ruined my meal because I could no longer taste the rest of the food. I found myself trying to scrape the spices off because it was just very heavily coated. Would have been better if they didn't drown their food in all that gunk :( My date and I ended up going to a fast food place an hour or two later. Just disappointing..."

  • "Found this place while looking for an alternative to pricey and stuff SF brunch buffets. Food was good, hand made sausage patties and yummy cheese grits. It's small enough that the food is still made in small enough batches to be fresh. Bottomless mimosas were a hit. Definetely try this for a casual brunch buffet."

  • "Made reservations for a couple of friends and myself. We were seated within 2 minutes! All the workers are friendly! Food was great. 1 of our group members is a vegetarian and was still able to have plenty of brunch options to choice from. The cheddar grits were amazing. Bottomless mimosas with more than two flavors. Can't wait to go back here! It was the perfect start to a day out with the ladies."

  • "Dined here for Valentine's Day dinner.I ordered an Onion Soup as a starter, but it came out with my main course. So while trying to wolf down the soup, my plate grew cold. I guess I could have asked for them to 'nuke' the plate to get it warm, but I often feel funny about doing that. The mac n' cheese could have used more seasoning, and the greens tasted more like spinach to me. Desert menu was limited to ice cream only, so we passed on that."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here for brunch on a Sunday around 12:30pm. We really loved it. The selection was good- pancakes are delicious and the bacon is to die for. We also really enjoyed the ceviche and the bread pudding with homemade caramel sauce was super. Bottomless mimosas are the way to go. We had the Guava and then the peach ones. Our waiter brought us a 1L pitcher at a time."

  • "Overall a pretty nice brunch buffet experience. Good quality food with a reasonable selection. Build your own bloody Marys and bottomless mimosas can make for a lively crowd. 90 minute table time when busy applies so don't expect to entrench for a leisurely gab with friends."

  • "Good food, good staff, and the banana rum syrup was delicious. The rest of the food was good as well except the sausage, which was very dry. But being a brunch bar there were so many other things to eat, so catching the kitchen on a bad sausage day didn't ruin mine. I would recommend this spot if you want to get a good brunch for great value near the Embarcadero."

  • "One of my friends recommended this spot to take my boyfriend to for his bday brunch and everything was perfect. The both of us are foodies and are always looking for new places to eat. This spot was a cool location server was super friendly and the food was great. Good spot for groups of friends to go to on the weekend for brunch. I definitely plan to eat here again soon."

  • "This place is near AT&T park, or in our case the Cirque du Soleil tent, and we had a very good experience. Seems your waiter is the owner, he's very casual, low-key, but friendly. Nice interior, don't know if they have outside seating, don't think so. Food was very tasty, nothing extraordinary but a good solid pick for this area."

  • "We had a casual group dinner at Ironside. It's definitely a great addition to the Mission Bay/South Beach neighborhood. We shared plates and pizzas. Our favorites were the fried avocado (really!) and the mushroom pizza. The service was just right for the spot; efficient, casual, and good-humored."

  • "Popular spot. Reservations recommended. Bottomless brunch was delicious. Ironside also offers Build Your Own Bloody Mary's and several options for bottomless mimosas. Service was attentive. This is not the place for quiet conversation but def come here to eat and catch a couple quarters of a football game on the telly. I'll certainly return again."

  • "Let me start with the positives: the food was great, the drinks were delicious, and our servers were very attentive. However, when we came in, the hostess made it a point of saying that we only had our table for an hour. Now, I understand that the restaurant wants to maximize revenue, and has probably taken as many reservations as they can get away with. But that's just rude. Nor is it posted anywhere when making a reservation! So instead of sitting and enjoying our food, we probably ate more and faster than we should have. Our server was very nice about letting us take our last drink and sitting in the waiting area, but the whole experience still left a bad taste in my mouth. Not recommended."

  • "First off - I'll start with the positive. Good food, fun scene, beautiful architecture. Went for Sunday brunch with a group. We were promptly brought to our seats but the hostess told us the second we arrived that they had a 90 minute limit on table (we hadn't even sat down yet). At around 75 minutes into brunch, the hostess popped by and told us we had 15 minutes left. We hadn't even gotten our bill yet. To summarize: fun scene, good food, poor service."

  • "Came in with the family at 7PM on a saturday night, after seeing Cirque du Soleil at the ballpark. This is a great open space, looks like a lot of fun, with a second level of seating. The burgers were delicious, both the BBQ and the Bison. So was the salmon my daughter ordered. The tempura avocado was unique and tasty. The restaurant was quiet, is this because it was not baseball season? I saw at four people come in to pick up takeout orders, these must be the locals."

  • "We were there early in the evening, so it was delightfully quiet. The service was, well, strange. The host was wearing his jacket, apparently to stay warm? Odd, since the restaurant was warm, which was very welcome on a cool SF evening. Wait staff was nice enough, but everyone seemed a little disengaged. We were initially concerned that this might also mean that the food would be lackluster, but we were pleasantly surprised. Everything was very good (we ordered the mushroom pizza and the veggie Cuban sandwich), despite the fact that the kitchen has a heavy hand with oil."

  • "We came to Ironside because we'd heard they had a great brunch (and they happened to have last minute reservations available on OpenTable)! We were SO glad we went! The brunch buffet was fantastic. Totally over the top and decadent, and super delicious. *Note: on weekends they ONLY have the brunch buffet at breakfast/lunch so don't go expecting a la carte. Totally worth the trip, but it would have been great to have a quick heads up about it."
