It's always great when a chef can pack amazing flavor into dishes. Love the little taste the Chef sends out to each table. Lamb was cooked beautifully. Veal "steak" was so different. The owner is super personable and goes out of his way to make sure your evening is all you want it to be.

When we arrived there were diners at one other table but they soon left and we were the only ones. One person ordered a ceasar salad she said was inedible. Also, they brought her the wrong appetizer. She decided not to say anything, but she should have. Rest of food was ok but not as great as I had anticipated. Maybe better at dinner or when restaurant is more crowded. One person ordered wine and they first brought the wrong one. Also, drinks were weak.

We had dined at the Iron Horse for many years. They recently switched executive chefs and the food has declined. Our waiter was inexperienced. He opened the expensive bottle of wine we ordered and, at our request, let it breathe before tasting it. He never returned to pour the first taste.

  • Dinner at Iron Horse...

Dined at Iron Horse Grill last Saturday night. The food was not bad but the service needs some tightening up. There were multiple waiters on our table and they didn't appear to be connecting with each other. Two waiters asked for our drink order, one waiter asked for our food order before the drinks even arrived, one drink was sent around the room until it finally landed on our table, and one busboy collected our clean silverware before our entrees had arrived. The bartender didn't know how to make a standard lemon drop martini and the drinks took an interminably long time to get to our table. I don't remember this confusion when Phil McGrath was in the house, so I hope his partner takes note of this review.

We have been wanting to try Iron Horse Grill for over a year now and we finally made it there. It was well worth the wait. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted like family and from start to finish the service exceeded our expectations. The food was absolutely delicious. We dined with another couple and tried several different appetizers. All of which were delicious. Each of our meals were perfect and there wasn't a bite left:) We are still talking about the meal we had and are anxious to go back again soon. Oh and the truffle fries I had with my steak were amazing! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Staff is very polite and attentive and nice to eat in a restaurant where you don't have to shout to be heard. We travel from Connecticut because it's worth the trip.

Although the restaurant scene in Westchester in August is slow and uncrowded, our experience at The Iron Horse was exceptional in both service and food quality. The maître d greeted us with warmth and personally remembered us, and treated us to a little nosh from the chef upon seating. Someone in our group didn't order an appetizer like the rest of us and the chef didn't want her to sit there without food in front of her while the rest of us ate our appetizers, so they treated her to a sample soup tasting so that she didn't feel left out of the first course. Nice, thoughtful touch. The wine was a good value, and the complimentary after dinner drinks were very much appreciated and noted. All the service staff was extremely friendly.

The food was average but not the prices. Service was slow and inexperienced. The atmosphere was comfortable and pleasing to know the facility was a former train station. The host was gracious and friendly. Unlikely we will not be returning any time soon unless we hear the food quality has risen tremendously.

I booked the Iron Horse Grill for a business dinner because the location was just right for the attendees. It's also a nice cozy place. It turned out to be "just right" in more ways than location. Service was outstanding as was the food. The noise level was not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation. So all in all, great dinner from start to finish. I am looking forward to going back soon.

We have been to the Iron Horse on many occasions and have always loved the food, service and ambiance. Last week we went there to celebrate our anniversary and I ordered skate wing. It tasted awful and we immediately called over the waiter. He didn't question me and asked what I would like instead. Soon after he confirmed that yes indeed the fish was bad and that they would not be charging for my entree. Not only that but he thanked us for the alert and said they were going to take it off the menu even though several people earlier had had the skate and it was fine. They also gave us complimentary after dinner drinks. This situation can happen to any restaurant but it is the way they react. Iron Horse rose to the occasion!

Restaurant was very accomodating. Chef, hostess and bartender were all readily available to make our dining experience a special one. Perfect spot before Jacob Burns for dinner, or appetizers and a drink at the bar. Desserts were amazing. We were running late and ordered the prix fixe so restaurant let us come back for dessert after the movie.

We enjoy the Iron Horse and the service and attitude of the staff is excellent We recommend it to our friends The one issue we might comment on is that that both laine and I have been very very thirsty and dry during the night after our meals at the Iron Horse. We suspect that there is a heavy addition of salt to the menue items. We do not know for sure if that is the case and would ask that the mgt review this issue with the chef. Otherwise always a treat to have dinner at the Iron Horse Mike

Each of us were greatly impressed and remarked positively about each of our beautiful differing delicious appetizers, gorgeous and really special mains and sensational deserts. We really enjoyed our dinners and ourselves and the fact that we were at the table for nearly 4 1/2 hours and not realized it is also testimony to Iron Horse Grill offering a special and memorable evening and proof of the management allowing for a leisurely and wonderful dining experience. I hesitate writing this review because i do not want to have to make reservations a month in advance.

My husband and I were looking forward to a wonderful meal. We enjoyed many wonderful meals in the past when the previous owner presided over the restaurant. The wine menu was less than ordinary. The food was also very ordinary tasting. It lacked spices and tasted quite bland. The theme was San Francisco on th menu and there was nothing that made you fel lik you were dining in that city.

We went for our anniversary dinner and the food was fantastic - every bite from the surprise amouse bouche with peeky toe crab (sp?), to the BLT salad special, to the lamb two ways with a fantastic vegetable tart, and yummy cod made interesting with a creamy lemon sauce and deliciously thin julienned veggies. They brought out a dessert with a candle and "happy anniversary" in chocolate sauce. Staff very friendly and warm. Only negative is the volume - even though the restaurant was not full, it got quite loud, so i can imagine on a Fri or Sat night when full, it would be hard to hear your table mates!

With such a high end and creative menu (the food was quite good), I was underwhelmed by the lack of creativity in the beer selections. I was looking forward to a good beer to go with good food, and the offering was disappointing. I've been to dive bars with more creative choices, so instead I thoroughly enjoyed my club soda. It took the restaurant a couple of notches for me.
