IrisAmazing!Outstanding food, great service and a beautiful space.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWorthy Venue for New Orleans diningThe preparations were superbly done. Iris had secured a huge following when uptown; this FQ location more suited to tourists appears to have cut into its base, but the food is superb.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time as good as the first!I enjoyed my second dining experience at Iris. It's quaint little restaurant that makes you feel that you are not in the tourist district of New Orleans. The food was excellent. We started with the mussel appetizer and the gnocchi, followed by Steak Frites and Grilled Shrimp both were meals were fabulous. I would definitely recommend this to those who are looking for an experience that is a little off the beaten track.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely ExperienceWe had a really nice experience at the restaurant. We were able to sit in the courtyard near the pool. It was really beautiful. The food was good, but it was a little overpriced. Expect smaller portions and a big price tag.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGroup DinnerMy group and I dined at Iris over the Jazzfest weekend. We originally had 11 in our group and added two more to the group which the restaurant did a great job accommodating. The waitress was great and had a wonderful sense of humor. The only complaint I have is the food portions were way too small. For the amount of money we each paid for dinner, we were not happy we left hungry. We actually left contemplating buying a whole other dinner somewhere else.
However, if you're not that hungry, definitely go for the duck. My husband had that and it was phenomenal. I wanted fish, so I ordered the shrimp dish which was nothing to write home about...quite disappointing.
All in all, great service, ambiance and energy!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFit for a foodieHard to find a fault here. All the food we had was top notch from the lemongrass/chicken soup to the sweetbreads to the gulf shrimp entree. The cocktails were good too. They seem to have an excellent chef. The service was fine, the only complaint being that our waitress didn't seem to know many details about the drinks or the food. The ambience is pleasant in this smallish restaurant, with a nice bar alongside the dining tables. Noise level was fine for us on a Friday night. One of the better restaurants for food in the city. Oh yes, good bread, too.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding dinner. ReallyOutstanding dinner. Really enjoyed everything - cocktails, bread, food, dessert (menu says souffle but it's really an excellent flourless chocolate cake) and service by an efficient and friendly staff.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate outside in a courtyardWe ate outside in a courtyard by a pool with just a few tables, so not noisy! Very nice! The food was wonderful... layers of flavors. Recommend the very tender pork cheeks and the mussels dish has a fabulous sauce. The duck breast was also DELICIOUS. The service was very attentive. The only turnoff was the initial welcome to Iris...rushed and rude (it was early and not even crowded). Certainly not Nawlins style! Put a damper on my meal.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI was with a party of fourI was with a party of four and would have to say that each entree was delicious. Service was also pleasant and prompt. The only problem was with the wine list. We often look for a good chardonnay and expect to pay $35-55, but the lowest price for an oaked, California wine was $72. With the many excellent restaurant choices in New Orleans, that is enough to keep me from returning.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a large group and itWe had a large group and it was a busy time in New Orleans but they were quick to meet our needs and both service and food were top notch. I have eaten here a number of times and they don't disappoint. The whole group left completely satisfied. Great job! Not an easy thing to do during Jazz Fest4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIris aims to please & hits the markFrom the fun signature cocktail menu, to the creme brulee, this restaurant aims to please. A delicious starter using crunchy kale was a welcomed surprise. The bruschetta was super fresh greens with a pretty variety of heirloom tomatoes, great bread and temperature here....the arugalla salad was a riot of scrumptious flavor with the pop of beets and early greens, but the gnocchi won the table-do not miss it! The entrees were timed perfectly and prepared as requested. The lamb chops were divine with unexpected combinations of spices, the couscous added some nice texture but the pepper sauce sealed the experience. Our hangar steaks were outstanding, but the fries could have used truffle salt. With all the attention to details Iris wins!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great find! We wereWhat a great find! We were looking for something new to try in the french quarter, and Iris came across our radar. Excellent food and great atmosphere. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good! After interestingVery good! After interesting specialty cocktails at the bar, 4 of us had a delicious dinner. Pork cheeks, duck confit salad, Drumfish, Lamb were standouts. Bar tenders and servers very knowledgable and attentive. At table for 3 hours and never felt rushed.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was to par for anThe food was to par for an establishment with the 31-50 dollar price. However portions were really small. Would suggest that they up the veggies a bit to compensate. Overall they were very friendly and personable, I felt at home. If I could afford to go more often I would. Our bill with no alcohol was 65 ish, with tip around $75.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe rate the noise categoryWe rate the noise category as 'energetic' which should be explained... We dined in the courtyard and the French Quarter Festival was taking place outside. It was anything but quiet or serene but the truth is, nowhere was during this weekend! Service was supurb, food was amazing! Would return for certain. Maybe not on French Quarter Fest weekend though...4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTop rate food, friendly waitTop rate food, friendly wait staff nice atmosphere4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSublime respite during FQFDined at Iris during French Quarter Fest. The staff was very accommodating. They really went out their way to meet our changing plans. The food was excellent, among the best meals I've had in New Orleans. The beverages are top notch. The atmosphere was elegant though festival may not be the best time to expect a tranquil experience. In fact we may have been the loud, inebriated group to which the previous reviewer referred (apologies).4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and serviceExcellent food and service from an attentive staff. Intimate restaurant attached to a boutique hotel.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent! This was an unbelievable gem of a restaurant the service and especially the food were outstanding! I thought it was the best of any of the restaurants that we had been to during our stay.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm a food snob, and thisI'm a food snob, and this restaurant made the cut. The food was unique and very tasty. You could tell everything was made from fresh ingredients. I will definitely go back.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMStill a hidden gem to mostStill a hidden gem to most of NOLA. Much beter than the highly touted Bayona.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA fantastic restaurant. FromA fantastic restaurant. From start to finish, the food was excellent. I will return.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great meal at Iris,Had a great meal at Iris, the server was very attentive. My drink (Basil Cucumber Martini) was refreshing. Started with the Bruschetta which was a nice portion and delicious. I then had the Gulf Shrimp which was really outstanding and my dinner partner had the roasted chicken which was moist and flavorful. We sat outside in the courtyard. Overall a very wonderful experience and I will be back.!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightfulIris was a delightful relief from the standard tourist restaurants in the French Quarter. The food is innovative and delicious, the room is quiet, the service is attentive and prompt, and the limited wine list offers some good wines at fair prices.12/29/2012 12:00:00 AMIris is a hidden gem in theIris is a hidden gem in the French Quarter! Lamb meatballs were scrumptious and the gulf fish/shrimp in coconut broth over bok choy was delicious. Looking forward to our next meal there!12/7/2012 12:00:00 AM
