The view from the top floor at Motor City Casino was amazing only surpassed by the excellent service and the creativity of the meals. The price was a bit more then I had expected so it may not be a weekly event. But certainly once a month is not out of the question. For two of us including drinks and tips it ran about $150.00. My husband and I celebrated our birthdays in a window seat for two. It is a bit hard to convince him to go downtown since he's not from Michigan (PHX) and isn't impressed with Detroit AT ALL. However, on this joyous occasion, he couldn't keep from closing his eyes to savor the food and tell me that we will definitely be back here. I had to stop him from licking the plate ;) We are foodies at heart and all 3 courses were delicious. We had a window-side table with a breathtaking view of Detroit, the river and across to Canada. It was Detroit Restaurant Week and we partook of the prix fixe menu. We had the good fortune to get Bao Ly as our server. She remembered us from three years ago. I had the Bouillabaise and my wife had the Caprese - both appetisers were awesome. She had the whitefish and I had the braised beef rib. Once again, excellent, with really nice presentation. Executive Chef Benjamin Meyer was nice enough to share how to make the creamy, delicious polenta they had prepared. I had one of the specials of the night which was 16 oz of lamb, medium well. My husband had 24 oz. New York strip steak, well done, which was succulent. The crab cake appetizer was delicious and flaky. I wasn't expecting corn in it but it was still good. My husbands Caesar salad left a lot to be desired, very plain and bland, but that was the only downside to the meal. Chocolate mousse for dessert was rich, smooth, and creamy and they put a little chocolate wafer that said Happy Anniversary on it - nice touch!

We were promptly seated at exactly five o'clock. Our server Othelea (sp) was fantastic. We got the Yellow Fin Tuna Carpaccio for an appetizer and it was simply amazing. For our entrèes we each had the New York Strip. They were both prepared perfectly and tasted wonderful. For desert we had the Peanut Butter Bar and it was certainly more decadent than the relatively mundain name suggests. Presentation at Iridesence is awesome and the wine list is top notch.
