Diner Reviews
  • "We enjoy the upscale atmosphere where the staff are top shelf. Every table has a great view. The crab cake appetizers were a hit with our group. The Chateaubriand was just perfect and gets five stars from me. The Ribeye Oscar Style has become a favorite of all of friends who have ordered it. Pricey but well worth it. I will continue to return again and again."

  • "There is something for every price level most importantly all had world class flare. We had three appetizers Crab cakes, Sea Ray and beet salad and a free appetizer of salmon. here is the kicker every dish had some sort of extra accompaniment, the most notable the Ray had a truffle fried hot potato salad and a pickled red cabbage, I thought I had died and gone to Culinary heaven.Main course I had an Asian style yellow curry seafood dish that overflowed with 4 large scallops 4 large shrimp and a multitude of smallish mussels. My wife had chicken two ways smoked and deep fried as well as a piece of pork belly. all flavorful hot and presented beautifully. All dishes are compilations of flavours that elevate the dishes to a whole new level."

  • "The one thing I continually notice about this restaurant is a lack of dress code enforcement-I realize its money spends-but when people come in in flip flops shorts and just really bad clothes-it definitely takes away formthe experience. Althoughit does add to the people watching side of things."

  • "My boyfriend & I went for our early two year anniversary dinner. & when I posted up pictures on my social media I got a lot of people wondering where we went to dine. I have to say it was one of the best dining experiences ever ! Very romantic & intimate :) I would really recommend trying this place out! We had an amazing waitress, & am excellent window seat view ! I will definitely be returning !"

  • "We celebrated our anniversary in style! The food was spectacular but was on the pricey side. My husband loved the salmon and the NY strip was outstanding! We had a wonderful and memorable evening. Thank you!"

  • "We arrived when they opened and were seated quickly. The waitress was top notch, very knowledgeable, asked immediatly about food allergies which I don't see very often. Portions were good size, presentation and quality were excellent. The view of the city was nice and enjoyed looking down on the old Tiger Stadium site. Only negative would be the prices. While we were able to select items that were fairly reasonable, we stayed away from the steaks up in the $80 to $90 range. That seems too high but overall for an appetizer, two entrees and a dessert the bill was about $100 (no alcohol). But there is a casino where you can go win it all back if you are lucky!"

  • "as usual. We always make Iridescence a must go to when visiting MCC. This last time we invited family and they were over the moon with the food and the service and view. Special thanks to Orethea our server. She is one in a million. Keep up the great work."

  • "We arrived and informed the waiter of our need to be out in time to attend the DSO...apparently he forgot or had too many tables to keep to his promise to get us out in time(we made sure that we had 2.5 hours for dinner). Aside from that, the food was perfect with well-paired wines."

  • "Iridescence was a wonderful way to spend a special evening. The food was upscale and described in great detail by the waitress. The service was perfect. I would recommend Iridescence to anyone who wanted to enjoy a very special meal. The haddock was perfect and the sauce brought it to a higher level. The only dissappointment to the evening was the family who came in wearing jeans and sports advertising on their shirts. Diners do not need ties and sport coats but there should be a proper attire requirement. When you pay proper prices for a meal you do not want to feel like you are sharing your experience with someone who is dressed to eat fast food."

  • "Very pleased with the food and especially the service. Being on the pricing side, we can't always enjoy this type of dining, but we are thrilled we did and will definitely make an effort to return."

  • "Last minute reservation.... no problem! Get a table with a view. Very romantic and pleasant ambiance. A little pricey but definitely worth it...A distinctive menu pleasant to the connoisseur. Ps: if your significant other doesn't like seafood, the selection is limited especially in the appetizer menu!"

  • "Me and my wife went here on a date and loved it. The menu is a bit pricey but my company paid for it so overall everything was great! Food was excellent and we really loved the waitress that served us. Overall a great experience and it was a nice quiet evening!"

  • "The food was great. We had the American Kaiseki. A series of several small courses. We had everything from sushi to steak. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. The service was great. It was worth the money."

  • "Definently a local hidden Gem within our community! I suggest local residents try the Iridescence for any special occasion or just for a regular evening out with friends. I do not think you will be disappointed! We enjoyed the Beef Filet cooked medium which was prepared perfectly and Halibut dinners. If you are a chocolate lover, you will not find a desert that is a 100% chocolate unfortunately. But you can definitely find a 100% chocolate desert in the casino food court! Management please add a 100% chocolate desert to your current desert menu. The ambiance cannot not be given enough credit, a written description is difficult to write to give it the proper credit the Iridescence is due!! Wait staff is great and very helpful!"

  • "This was our first visit, and we will return. When I made my reservation I requested a window table. When we arrived, the hostess saw that my wife was in a wheelchair, and the window tables and chairs were tall. Rather than make my wife transfer to a tall seat, we were seated at an upper-level table that afforded the same view as a window seat, but my wife could remain in her chair. The panoramic view faced east, so we didn't need to worry about the sunset blinding us. The food was magnificent, and portions were bigger than expected; we had no room for dessert, which was fine with us. The prices were in line with a dining experience of this quality. It was a lovely evening, and we look forward to our next visit."

  • "Food: top notch. View: captivating. Service: friendly and right there. Ambiance: Elegant. Sit at the semi circle table, or window if you can get it, and be feted under the shimmering glass bulbs."

  • "It was ok but not to happy, wanted to use my club metro card as I had money on it, after waiting 20 mins for my waiter to tell me the cards not worry they sent me all the way down to the casino to make another card and back but no thank or 10% off for your trouble nothing. Wasn't to happy at all."

  • "Always trying to support Detroit and had never been to this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Unusual dishes, beautifully prepared, excellent staff and service. Diners beware however because it is very expensive albeit very good. Come prepared with a big budget."

  • "I have never been to such a nice "High-end" restaurant in the City of Detroit before. Excellent views of the waterfront and the Bridge to Canada. Great dining expierence."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "So here's the deal. It's a good restaurant. It has a great view in a more suitable viewing season (i.e. don't go in winter). I thought the service was consummate with the level of dining they're obviously going for, but the rest of it didn't measure up. I really am ok with spending $160 on a special occasion for a meal for two. Truth is, however, this just did not cut it, and I definitely had the buyer's remorse. Maybe someone with a better palate could detect some subtleties that escaped me, which would make the whole thing worth it, but I just would not recommend it for the price. Again, the food was good. But I could have gone to Slow's BBQ and been just as happy for 1/3 the coin."

  • "I have been dining here since it opened up. me and my husband just love it here. We haven't came in awhile. So we made plans for my 50th birthday. We noticed that now you can get in wearing gym shoes and a t shirt. We ordered the crab cake like always . It was not that good. It tasted more like tuna fish. The steaks were great and the rest of the meal was very good. Nicole our waitress was very very accomadating to us. She also gave me a birthday dessert. It turned out to be a wonderful birthday .We want to start coming every month."

  • "Considering this was restaurant of the year a couple years ago, we were very excited to check it out. It is very pretty and has nice window views. The problem is that the window views are high tables, which isn't bad except the seats are not very comfortable for a long dining experience. They have no back to speak of so you can never get real comfortable. Sounds silly, but not comfortable. We ordered the "twin lobster tails", the chefs interpretation, 3 tails in a bowl with a mushroom puree, mushrooms and seasonings. This is like lobster soup. The bean soup is delicious! The coffee is wonderful. The service and people are great. It is very expensive and for the uncomfortable seating and "creative" take on the lobster, I would not go back."
