Diner Reviews
  • "Our evening started with waiting almost twenty minutes for a table despite having reservations. The half-price martinis that tasted like they had 1/4 of the alcohol. The kitchen was extremely slow -- our meal took over 2.5 hours. One dish had to be returned to the kitchen because it was cold in the middle. Our waitress's recognition of the issues and offer of free dessert was appreciated, but overall a disappointing evening."

  • "One of our favorite Italian restaurants in Indianapolis. The food is always excellent as is the service."

  • "Visiting Indy for a conference, I found Iozzo's and made reservation before getting to town - what a fantastic choice! The wine list was outstanding and the food selection was impressive. While it is nearly impossible to actually duplicate the tastes found in food in Italy, Iozzo's did an excellent job attempting to replicate it. The lasagna with meatballs was incredible and enough food for 2-3 people! The restaurant had issues with their air conditioning and probably should add some ceiling fans just to move the air a little bit, but this was just a small thing in an otherwise wonderful meal!"

  • "We celebrated an anniversary dinner, and were treated like royalty. We were attended to when necessary, and given time to enjoy a conversation as well. The complimentary anniversary drinks were a nice surprise. Dinner was delicious, the wine flight was perfect, and the Manhattans were all they were cracked up to be. We will be back."

  • "My family and I went out for birthday within the family and we all selected grouper for our entree. Usually, Iozzo's prepares fish extremely well. However, this time, the fish was grilled too long and it was dry for all us. Yes, this was a disappointment! However, our family has dined at this establishment for several years and this is the first time we had a poor entree'. Hence, I rated the food at best a 2."

  • "The head bartender is incredible...the food is as well...but the server was clumsy and not very descriptive when we asked questions over the menu. Courses were not timed at all and we were often left with no drinks at the table(no water, wine, nor whiskey). First (and hopefully last) bad experience here. Definitely be back...just may be a minute."

  • "Normally I would rate a visit here as Very Good or Outstanding in every category, but on this night there were some problems with service and food. Our server was probably doing the best he could but I think the problem was understaffing. We were outside and rarely saw our server. Several times I had to get up and go inside to find someone to wait on us. It was a very busy night but I feel our table was shortchanged. Also, most of the food was very enjoyable, but I was served what seemed like canned green beans which I could barely eat. We assume this night was a fluke and next time will be better."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at our favorite restaurant, Iozzo's. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a spectacular time! Service was perfectly paced and attentive without being too obvious. Food, as always, was exceptional. And the ambiance at this place cannot be beat."

  • "The place was beautiful, but the service was very slow. The people were very kind and extremely accommodating for the birthday. That said, the quality of the food in the nicest of the staff cannot replace how slow it took for food and how we had to track them down to complete the checks."

  • "This restaurant is always a solid choice. Pan-seared grouper was prepared perfectly. Others in our group had chicken marsala and lobster ravioli, also very good. Has an interesting but not overly expensive wine list, although not all wait staff is knowledgeable. Have had appetizers at past visits, and these were very good."

  • "This was our waiters first night on the job at Iozzo's and he did a great job! You would never have guessed it was his first night as he was very familiar with the menu and wine list. Iozzo's did a a nice job with training."

  • "The lasagna might have been the best piece of food I have ever eaten. The Old Fashioneds were very good also."

  • "Service was wonderful and quick enough for an elegant lunch. There is a little highway noise outside, but the garden is lovely, green, quaint. The server was super attentive and treated us like queens! I had the 3 cheese fire roasted pizza, and it was truly amazing. Cheeses, garlic and seasonings I would never have thought about putting together, and it was amazing! Generous amount of food for just over $10. And they have cloth napkins, glass drinking glasses, and real silverware, so it's still elegant."

  • "We chose this restaurant because of the reviews. We loved reading about the history of the restaurant and the menu was wonderful. We had the fish of the day (amberjack) and it was offered a multitude of different methods of preparation. We had it wrapped in parchment and it was very fragrant and tasty. The house salad dressing was exceptional. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable with great service. We were celebrating a special occasion and we all agreed it was a delightful dinner. We will definitely return and recommend to others. They had an extensive wine menu as well. I had the Italian margarita and my husband had the Italian beer on the menu in an authentic Italian glass. It was like traveling to Italy for the evening!"

  • "It was our anniversary. They started us off with complimentary champagne. We had 0.5 l vino di casa that was good. Scallops appetizers were heavenly. Salads are always good here. Our entrees we had salmon and amber jack (bronzed) with polenta. The best polenta in town too. Followed by Afogado desert for a fantastic finish. In the summer you have to eat out. It reminds me so much of a small back alley ristorante in Venetiza. Iozzo's does it right. Grazie!"

  • "I had the shrimp diavolo and my wife had the chicken fettuccine. We both really loved our entrees! Add that with the great salads that came with our meals, along with the scallops & goat cheese appetizer, it was an awesome meal."

  • "We had a great dinner this is the fifth time we have been to Iozzo's and the 1st time we were able to sit outside! WOW Loved the decor and it was a great night to sit outside. I waitress was a little slow but we were able to enjoy each other and have a great dinner with out being rushed. I think the she had tables inside and out but other staff was able to help and pick up her slack with was nice for her and us because we felt important! The baby Iceberg Salad was amazing and the Meatballs were Amazing as always! Topped off with the Limoncello Flute for Dessert! YUMMO!!!"

  • "Had been wanting to try this place for years. It met our expectations with a nice wine list and great food. Nice appetizer list - everyone loved the scallops. We had the lasagne and the chicken marsala. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the restaurant's past and gave us the history which was interesting. We had to wait for our table a bit, but as we waited we chatted with the two bartenders who were a lot of fun and even gave us a taste of one of their specialties. If only the weather wouldn't have been so hot, we would have enjoyed sitting outside in the patio. We will be back!"

  • "Food was just okay and overpriced. I love my pasta and have been to many Italian restaurants. I ordered the linguine with calm sauce. Husband ordered shrimp diavoli and zozo shrimp for app. All was bland. I'm sorry but this probably not a place I would come back to if I had to choose. It was also hot but that could be due to us sitting by the door that lead to the patio. Unable to wash my hands after using the restroom. Someone said they had a plumbing issue and had to turn water off. Hmmmm… if I couldn't wash my hands how could the servers and cooks….."

  • "This was our first visit here. Service was great. Some of the food was good. We had a problem with one of the dishes we ordered but they made it right. The chicken Picatta was average at best. We would try it again but maybe not soon"

  • "The restaurant had two large parties the night we attended. We were placed at an awkward table in the middle of two loud parties on either side. It was very loud. Because of the parties, the service was slow. We had an appetizer and dinner. the appetizer came within a reasonable time, then the salad (which was a little too heavy on peppery arugula for me), then we waited at least 30 minutes for our entree. They did comp us a round of drinks, and were very apologetic about it, and since we were in no hurry, it was fine. However, it was a two hour meal as a result. Once I received my meal - veal scallopini was excellent, my husband said his lasagna was very good. Other than the slow time to get the meal, everything else was good."

  • "My second visit. Food and presentation are both terrific. Service above average. Timing of courses was spot on. Menu leans toward seafood - but not at all exclusively. Between my friends and I on the two visits, have sampled from all over the menu and I heard no complaints what-so-ever. Many honest raves (me too). Bar like atmosphere, but very family (adolescent and above) friendly. I don't imbibe but wine and cocktails are available. My guest this visit (out of town relative) did have two glasses of wine. Spent near $70 pp total. We split an appetizer and both had desert. Generous earned tip. Quality of food and overall experience makes it a good value. Highly recommended. "

  • "The food was average for the price and he service was the same. We went on a Tuesday evening at 7:00 and there were not many people, so the service should have been better. We picked the outdoor patio as we were impressed by the looks on their website.. It is near a highway and very noisy. The tables and chairs are very inexpensive plastic type chairs, nothing special.. I was expecting a gem and was slightly disappointed.. Salads were good but the pasta was just boring. Meals are $19 to $25 which is not breaking the bank, but probably not worth that. I would rather pay more for better food and service.. Just average at best. "
