A word from Insignia Prime Steak & Sushi
Insignia is the newest fine dining restaurant from Anthony Scotto - proprietor of Blackstone & Rare650 Steakhouses. Like its predecessors, Insignia's inspired menu will feature the finest prime dry-aged steaks and the freshest Sushi & Seafood, including Mediterranean whole fish, served up in a chic, elegant atmosphere that is also a feast for the eyes. Picture a historic North shore mansion with cedar shakes, quarried stone and a beautiful turret combined with the energy and vibe of a trendy Manhattan restaurant. "That's Insignia" stated Mr. Scotto, "It's refreshingly unique."Continued

  • "This was not our first time to Insignia. As always everything was just right. Our waitress was personable and friendly and the food did not disappoint. This is definitely our go to restaurant for special occasions or when we just need to treat ourselves !!"

  • "We were there on Easter Sunday. this is our second Easter dining there and this was the best one yet. It was crowded when we arrived. We were seated promptly to our table which was a booth in the bar area. It was quiet and very enjoyable. The staff was very attentive."

  • "Our experience was wonderful at Insignia. We are both impressed by the service and the food was outstanding. I was very impressed that all the wait staff made a point of wishing my husband a happy birthday. I did not expect that and it was a wonderful touch! the resturant was exactly what was wanted to celebrate his special day We hope to visit again but prices are over the top and not something anyone can afford on a weekly basis! thank you karen and bob"

  • "Everything was amazing. We got there 15 mins before our reservation and they seated us right away. The only thing we did not like was the donught dessert. It was a little greasy for our liking."

  • "My husband and ate here for our 10 year anniversary. He had lobster and I had stuffed shrimp. It was delicious sand price was good. . I have to say the staff is amazing!! "

  • "The food was good. The waiters were off que, they interupted when we were talking and then you couldnt get there attention when you wanted something. For the huge bucks, that are better options. For less money, the same. The only reason to go back is that its the only high end place in the area to meet clients. "

  • "My big complaint is that I had a $100 gift card. The bill showed $100 gift card but only $50 subtracted. I would suggest you ck your receipts. They did adjust accordingly. Will return for drinks at bar and outside. Food was good but for the price expected to be blown away."

  • "We went to Insignia to celebrate a special occasion. The ambiance was great, servers very attentive and knowledgable and the food was great. We ordered assorted sushi rolls for apps and steaks ( including a watermelon steak for me, the vegetarian!) and it was delicious. My only complaint was that the cheese cake ordered for dessert was still frozen in the middle. All in all - great special occasion restaurant!! We will be going back!"

  • "My best restaurant on Long Island was Blackstone, same owner as Insignia, the only thing it lacked was a little privacy and a lot less noise. Well, looks like they created it for me: Insignia. I had tornado sushi roll and it is actually the best roll I ever had. My husband had a Ribeye and was outstanding too. This restaurant is much more quiet than Blackstone, more for families and couples and the service was amazing. I asked for a romantic table since it was an anniversary celebration and not only they gave us a very quiet and nice table but they brought a sparkler at the end of the dinner to congratulate us. I am telling you, I am a really picky customer and I have tried a lot of restaurant but this one is my favourite."

  • "Overpriced - filet steaks were just under $50 for the meat alone. Side dishes were $10+. Cocktails (nothing special) $12. Noisy - Sun @ 7pm, room was full, conversation was difficult. Cold air entered room when front door was opened. Oversized portions for everything - doggy bag, yes, but for dessert as well?? Odd definition of "medium" for steak. Was rare in the center. Okay after reheating. Steaks were good, but not great. Will not visit again"

  • "This was our first time going to Insignia and will not be our last. The food was outstanding from start to finish. The sushi was delicious and creative -- not your run of the mill! We had a sushi special that was out of this world. Our party of six had everything from Steaks to Seafood and everyone in our party had a great meal. Topped off with great desserts it was a perfect meal. And honorable mention definitely goes to the wait staff. We were assigned two people to serve our table and they never missed a beat. Perfect meal. Well done! We will be back !"

  • "The food here was so incredible. They really took care of us. It is expensive, easy $80-100 person depending on drinks and meats. Either way best saved for a special occasion."

  • "I felt like I was having dinner in a disco the noise level was incredibly loud ."

  • "Service was top notch, unfortunately the food did not match the service. The food was below average, three steak entrees over cooked, sides grilled to a blackened beyond what was needed for cooking. use of lemon on many dishes was way too excessive. Overall very disappointing. Considering the cost they should really look at the product they are serving."

  • "This was the first time my wife and I had come to this restaurant. It didn't disappoint. We had a drink at the bar and dinner was what you would expect from a high end restaurant. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was fabulous. We can't wait to go back."

  • "OUR FIRST time there, we went for the Sunday Night Surf & Turf Special ($100 for 2!). The minute you step in the door you are greeted by friendly and attentive staff. We were seated immediately but it was Sunday at 7:30. Wait staff was professional, friendly, and all around the service was superb. Now to the food! The Mozzarella & Tomato was fresh and very sizable as was the Caesar salad. The Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection and the lobster was about 2 lbs and tender and juicy. I'm not a fan of creamed spinach but ate this one, it was so good. Portions were more than enough for two people. We left stuffed! On to dessert. Excellent cheesecake...order that! Next time we'll order off the menu. Sorry we didn't go sooner!"

  • "We were celebrating my mom's birthday. It was a wonderful experience from the minute we got there starting with the stuff, we approach inside every one greeting us with a smile and were very friendly our table was ready in time as I previously change my time from 9 pm to 8 pm in a short time notice I thought we would have to wait a little since they were busy but that was not the case. when we sat to our table our waitress came with a big smile on her face and introduce her self and asked us if we wanted anything to drink while we look at the menu she was wonderful always there when we need her and must admit the waiting time for food was outstanding, got to say that I love the place and I'll give it two thumbs up. Food delicious."

  • "As always, the food was incredible! The staff are all VERY polite and extremely attentive. Just walking to our table, everyone stops and says hello and welcome. The food and specials are to die for! The drink specials are fantastic and the list of available wines, sake, and other drinks has something for everyone. This place is fantastic for a special occasion dinner and night out. Haven't been over by the bar area, but it matches everything else. Perfect. My favorite place to go from everywhere on Long Island. You can't get better than this!!!"

  • "This is not the first time I've been to this restaurant. I had the 30oz bone-in ribeye. It came cooked perfectly and looked great plated. The hash browns were amazing and the mashed potatoes were great as well. The broccolini was okay, not great but better than average. The wait staff was excellent. They provided prompt courteous service which was well-timed. The dining area was a bit on the louder side but not nearly as loud as the bar area which was a separate room. We asked for a quiet table which they tried to accommodate and were mostly successful."

  • "for the prices you pay- the food is average. The wait staff in their attempts to give the impression of being familiar with their guests can come off as too nonchalant or even rude. You can get better sushi, food and drinks at other local locations. I wish the restaurant lived up to the beautiful building it is housed in. We've given this 5 chances with big and small groups and probably was only happy with one meal there. Sorry...."

  • "I've had mixed emotions about Insignia having been there before and not having a great experience. Went there (one last time) on a Monday for dinner. Monday is usually a light night...so maybe you'd expect service to be very good. Wrong! All I will say is the food is excellent...yet very pricey. Two waiters per table and they still took forever to bring drinks...couldn't remember to fill empty water glasses...served the coffee about 10 mins after the dessert came. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to our waiter...he laughed. Really? I'll never go back! Go to Vintage if you're in the area."

  • "Most in my party were content with the table. However, I felt that being placed in the rear corner of a room with nothing to look at but the wall and drapes was not appealing. I could have mention it to the receptionist, but I usually like to see if I will be asked if I like the table. It was the first seating and there were many free tables. My wife had the petit sirloin special w/marrow and was disappointed. The marrow was dry and the steak, if prime, was tough and the sauce was too heavy! My son-in-law had the sushi and thought it was good! I had the branzino and thought it good, but the server should improve on filleting skills - there were several bones! However, the server did mention that some bones might still be in the fish."

  • "The food was wonderful. The fare was expensive, but worthwhile. We had the sliders which were great with a bit of a kick. The frisée salad was delicious and quite big. The scallops were very good, but the accompanying braised short ribs stole the show. They were so flavorful. I would highly recommend."

  • "Service was excellent. Food was very good. Be careful with the specials, very pricey. Alaskan Crab special was over price ($59.00) and was over cooked, dry, and we should have sent it back. The Maître' d was very accommodating to our request for a different seating location. Have been there in the past and would return."

  • "the side dishes could be larger the steaks were good portion for the price not crazy about the chocolate dessert, very dry, not moist for a chocolate cake"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Wines listed in menus were not available. VERY Noisy. insuffficient and inexperienced wait staff. Mediocre food. dessert selection unimpressive. Heat and AC were alternating between bake and freeze. Lighting was very dim. Hard to read oversized menus with small print at small table. Too many items on menu. Scallops were undercooked and unflavorful (If they were scallops). Pricey for the service and fare."

  • "We had a really great night at Insignia! We were out for a Tuesday steak dinner and discovered a great place. There is a large bar area, not much was going on, however, you can't judge a bar by a Tuesday night crowd! What we DID find on Tuesday was a great special we had filet mignon and skirt steak, mashed and baked potato, huge Cesar salads and desert and coffee for $100.00 The steak was wonderful, really tender and juicy It is more on the expensive side, but it's a nice place and the food is great. I've been in much more expensive places and the food wasn't half as good. It makes a great celebration or date place. It is a bit noisy, but asking for a booth helps. We had a great time and would absolutely go back again."

  • "The Scotto brothers have done it again, but even better. This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in all of Long Island. Grant it, the price is a little high, but you get what you pay for! Beautiful bar area, very inviting, very grand, beautiful decor, excellent service, great wine list, amazing food, beautiful over head wine rooms, great sushi bar, I could go on forever."

    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "What a great spot! The service is unbelievable! The wine list is extensive and the cocktail menu is creative. The coconut shrimp sushi roll is a must have! The skirt steak is tender and juicy. We had the truffle Mac and cheese and the grilled artichokes for sides and they were both perfect!!"
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "I had dinner here with clients. Definitely impressive but the noise level in the restaurant was such that you absolutely couldn't hear our conversation. The noise from the bar just filters through, into the dining room. The food was excellent, albeit extremely pricey. It's quite a bar scene. Not sure I would return because of the noise...."
