We had the duck and the parpadelle. both were excellent. However, the noise was very loud and made conversation at the table difficult. The waiter was nice but slow; this was a Saturday night and the place was full. Might try it again during the week; maybe less noisy. Price wise it is on the upper end of moderate; I think the duck was $28 (no vegetables or other side plate) and the parpadelle was about $22. Wines were normally price for this kind of restaurant - a bottle of Textbook Chardonnay was $37.

Quality tends to vary from a 3 to a 4, this experience was a 3. It was busy and we waited for quite some time for a drink order. Mista salad was overdressed, clam appetizer was great, duck was very good but one piece was very chewy.

I took my parents to Insalata's for their birthday's and I hadn't been in years. It was very good. The service, the food and the vibe. It's not too quiet and not too loud. There were couples, kids and older folks there so everyone can feel comfortable. I had a misto salad and shared it with my mom, my dad does not like salad but he even asked for some and really liked it. Simple and well dressed. I had the salmon, my mother had the chicken and my dad had the pork chop. We all loved our meals. Our waiter was excellent, there for us but no annoying. He called me a young lady which made this 40 something feel good. I would go back sooner rather than later!

We have come here for years. This time it was a Sunday evening when my mother was visiting. The food, as always, was distinctive, fresh and all-around fantastic. I don't know how they consistently keep the experience as imaginative and fresh as they do, but I guess that's what makes and enduring great restaurant.

We split the fatoush salad which is always tasty. Then, the duck was amazingly prepared with delicious sauces and the flatiron steak was everything this steak could be. Dessert was a blueberry crisp. Every dish was perfectly prepared and plated!

The menu has gotten smaller but there remains unimpressive things like canned olives stuffed with anchovies and a fish roe starter which we doubt is hugely popular - the menu hasn't been fully revamped in years ::: Our table service was spotty and disjointed the other night ::: We don't mind a smaller menu, and most often the preparation of plates is very well done - Mediterranean cuisine is varied and exciting - we'd like to see Insalata's embrace this and work on a much overdue update...

Really good food with unusual spices and combinations. Beautifully presented and large quantities (especially for the Chicken Fhattoush salad, a diner might be warned about the size of it!). Staff friendly and helpful. It is mostly quiet but loud voices carry far. Very lovely decors, paintings on wall.

The service and the food were both awesome! We had gone to Boulevard earlier in the week and Insalata's was better, by far! It was a special evening made wonderful by great service and fantastic food!

I would have given "Food" 5 stars but there was a bit (not much) of grit in the spinach otherwise the food was more than I expected. I dined with a good friend - she had the vegetarian platter and I had the roast duck with pomegranate. We had the "cigars" as an appetizer. I found it amazing that when we left the restaurant was quite full and the noise level was so low. Very pleasant experience. We had attended a concert and this was a perfect after concert dinner.

4 of us had dinner at Insalata's on Saturday. We have always had good meals here so we were looking forward to the meal. First we shared the trio of Middle Eastern apps (Hummus, Taaramasalata and eggplant) with Pita bread. These were great to nibble on. The server gave us sufficient time to chat and drink a little wine. I had ordered the swordfish which was cooked just right with a lemon and yogurt dressing and an eggplant puree. Delicious. My wife ordered the duck breast with a pomegranate glaze, excellent. One of our friends ordered the salmon and the other the flatiron steak. The salmon and the steak were cooked medium rare as requested. We all enjoyed our meals and will return soon. The service was attentive and efficient.

I took my mother-in-law there for her birthday, plus a friend of hers, both in their 80s. We had a concert to go to and came prepared - upon arrival, we told our waiter that all 3 of us would like to order the duck. We also got the trio of dips. The timing was perfect, the food was delicious (one of the best duck dishes I had, very moist and tender) and service was outstanding. Perfect mixture of white table cloths without stuffiness. Would definitely go there again.

I've been in the area for 9+ years and I've eaten at every decent restaurant in San Anselmo, EXCEPT Insalata's and not sure why. Boy, we were pleasantly surprised and dumbfounded when we realized what we've been missing all these years. The ambience was lovely - high ceilings, low volume of noise. The wine list was extraordinarily affordable - it was actually cheaper to buy a bottle than 2 glasses per person. And the meal was outstanding. I ordered the Syrian Fatoush Salad and my boyfriend stole it from me. We loved it so much we desperately searched the internet and found it. Yay! My Salmon and vegies were cooked to perfection. We are coming back toute suite!

Insalata's has become my husband's and my favorite local restaurant. The weekday evening 3-course prix-fixe winemaker's dinners are such a treat. This last visit, the starter was melon salad with a goat cheese and prosciutto toast--perfect pairing! Firm, fresh seabass with herbs and a yummy Mediterranean quinoa and pumpkin seed pairing, and peach shortcake for dessert, with two half-glasses of wine for $33. Such a deal!! Comfy chairs, cool room, attentive service. We can't wait to go back!

We enjoyed a birthday brunch for my daughter, here. Three adults plus a quiet baby. The Eggs Benedict & grapefruit juice: fantastic. Cornmeal pancakes: good but needed far more lemon sauce and maple syrup. There were only two other tables with guests and there were two wait-staff working and at least one bus-person. The waitress was nice, but inattentive to our basic needs. When we ordered, we said we would be sharing the pancakes. When served, we were not offered a clean plate to help distribute food nor was there even one spoon on our table with which to manage the food. The waitress disappeared for long periods and we had to flag her down to get a spoon, hot water for tea and syrup. Insalata's is a favorite--usually much better.

Everything was wonderful, as usual - the eggplant fries appetizer, our shared mozzarella salad, my lemon linguine, his salmon, the pistachio pavlova and the berry crisp. Our only mistake was that we didn't realize it was graduation night, so our table for two was tucked amid some very large parties that were celebrating. You can always count on Insalata's for excellent food with perfectly-sized portions and efficient service.
