We went to Inn at the Park for restaurant week. We were seated immediately in the room adjacent to the bar, but although many tables were empty we didn't see anyone but the guy filling water for several minutes. The server was absent throughout the night, appearing when courses were ready and then leaving immediately. We received no check-ins. Food was very good, so fortunately we had no particular need to flag down the server. If we had we would have been out of luck. There was live music in the bar, and it was quite loud requiring my wife and I to shout at one another. We were charged $135 for restaurant week (x2) and a $35 bottle of wine. I think their math was off too. Seems like it should have been about $105 + tax and gratuity.

The food was delicious and abundant! I went for Christmas and the three course meal was a fantastic price. Also, our waiter was fantastic- very friendly and accommodating. Ambiance was great- karaoke singer was so fun! The only thing is that we were seated at a table right by the walkway that led to the door so there was a lot of food traffic by us.

I am not making this up or exaggerating. We made a reservation at Top of the Park. A couple of days before, the restaurant called and left a message for me to reconfirm, which I did. When we got to the restaurant, the hostess (who later revealed she was the manager) informed us--and two other parties who had arrived and were in the same position--that the restaurant had overbooked. She said they had had no shows before and would not risk empty tables on a Christmas seating. She suggested we try a diner up the street. Only the most cursory apology offered. And why no call to my cellphone when they knew they'd cancel on us? Not many alternatives open and all very crowded on Xmas. Finally found pleasant Afghan place nearby--Khyber Pass

All right the appetizer finally made it LUKEWARM..... The main dishes came. 2 Salmon, 1 Ham and 1 Ribeye. The fish was undercooked and had to be send back. The Ribeye was undercooked and chewy and Dad could not get it down. My Ham dish was lukewarm like everything else. Enough I said; I am so sorry Mom that I brought you here. I got up and talked to the Manager. She was apologetic for our dining experience and said are you ordering the deserts? I said; I hope there is some highlight here yet. While this is all happening, Anthony our waiter brought us 4 glasses of red wine to make up for the lack of dining experience. We thanked him. The Manager reduced our bill by 50%, however, I guess I paid the TIP twice. (It war already included).

I've lived in Little Italy and Hillcrest for several years and only recently discovered this restaurant. I was looking for a place for Christmas Eve dinner for five people. Absolutely no complaints. The food was delicious! Anthony, our server, was outstanding!! The man has only one speed: fast. Just a great overall experience and I'll definitely be back. Loved their throwback bar - has an old style ambiance.

It was a quiet lunch, only a few tables filled, so it was great for conversation. And the service was excellent. Food was OK, - we each had a different salad and they were "average.". The view is tremendous, so this is a great place to take out-of-town visitors.

First time to this refurbished older hotel/inn, now a boutique hotel with new name....been living here for decades and never frequented this spot, but Restaurant Week provided the impetus. We liked the intimacy, lively vibe with piano bar and scene. Our three course meal was very tasty, wine flight with courses well matched....enjoyed a new wine, Acacia Unoaked Chardonnay.

Went for Restaurant Week. Food took forever was cold and under seasoned. Our 1 server and Busgirl that were the only ones in the whole place were buried. There was at least 60 people. Even the Manager seemed disorganized as he auctioned off food to wrong tables. Took over 2 hours to eat a 3 course meal couldn't wait to get out. Oh might I add a little embarassing when the Manager comes out to one of my Guest at the table and tells him "The Shrimp Cocktail you ordered the Chef days he doesn't want to serve it." Ever heard of maybe better lying and saying I'm sorry but we ran out of shrimp. Doesn't put a good image in the back of our minds of the Quality of all the other food we are eating. FYI

I went to 525 at the Inn at the Park with 5 other people for Restaurant Week. Their menu sounded very intriguing. Somd great sounding dishes. The place was pretty full with a piano player and singer entertaining the restaurant. Fun atmosphere. I had the shellfish tasting as my first course. Unfortunately the broth was super salty and the mussels were fishy and barely open. Not a good sign. The clam was good. The Black Angus Beef course made up for the disappointing appetizer. It was delicious. Both the beef cheek and the short ribs were awesome. The bone marrow was a rich addition. Dessert was average. Overall a good experience. Worth a try.

Our server was very attentive and major compliments to the chef. I had the scallops dish for dinner and it was amazing. They have rooftop dining for lunch only so I have to come back for that. The bar area was packed and they had piano playing and singing on Saturday night with good tunes. The restaurant area was very nice jazzy feel and elegant touch. Can't wait to go back!

I have been to this restaurant many times, and it has become a personal favorite. However, this evening, everything was off. Food was late in coming, half the order was missing from the plate, and the food was not prepared properly. The young waitress was largely clueless about providing service beyond taking an order. She should have caught the errors and delivered courses in a more timely way. I still love the restaurant. The entertainment in the bar is extraordinary--always a welcome accompaniment to the food.

We were going to the Old Globe in Balboa Park and had a restaurant discount card from the theater. The website for the restaurant shows photos of the restaurant on the top of the hotel with great views. But when we arrived we found out that they only serve lunch on the top floor during the week and have special events there at weekends. We were served dinner in a room on the ground floor next the street. The food was well prepared and the service was OK but the restaurant was empty (other restaurants in the area were all full at the time). The atmosphere was rather dingy 60s style and a bit depressing. Also there was valet parking but only one person on duty so it took forever.

Since I only have 750 characters, I'll list out my thoughts: -One parking attendant. We waited in a line of cars for 15 minutes. -One small, slow elevator that coud not handle the crowds. We walked up 7 flights of stairs as we were late for our reservation due to the parking delay. -Nice view, but the live music was so loud you couldn't hold a normal conversation at your table. -Food selection & quality was fair: standard but unremarkable breakfast items, a few non-breakfast choices, a basic carving station, a small selection of low-quality desserts. Slow to replenish as items ran out. Very cheap champagne. If the brunch was priced at $30-$40 per person, it would have been acceptable. At $60 it felt like a rip-off. Will not return.

We were impressed at the changes @ The Inn, having enjoyed many past dinners there. The decor, white linen accentuated by purples/yellows & colorful paintings, blew us away! The best ts yet to come! Our server Frank anticipated/fulfilled our every request - he was one of the professional/pleasant waiters we have met in many years!. The wine was sippingly delicious, the Caesar salad tastefully tart & highlighted by a fresh anchovie! The main entree of pork bucco/mashed potatoes/spring vegetables/morel mushrooms/wine was incredible. The other great dinner was a large rib-eye steak, rare, spring vegetables/wine/mushroom gravy. Although we had no time for a dessert, there will be many more opportunities! The Inn will be a regular occasion!

The Piano bar attached to thedining room had an "eclectic" vibe the night we were there. The duo performing "Ria & Rick", were quite good and we ended up having a night-cap in the bar after dinner! My only complaint; while my steak was very well prepared and cooked perfectly, it was far smaller than the 8 ounces it claimed to be on the menu... The chicken my partner ordered on the other hand, wasa generous portion and EXCELLENT.

My husband and I had a lovely time at Top of the Park's Easter Brunch. We went for the 2:00 seating and some of the displays did not look as nice as they probably did first thing in the morning, but everything still tasted good. As a first time customer, we did not know the layout of the restaurant. We were ushered to a table near the bar which was less than ideal. When we went to the buffet area, we found another area of the restaurant that was the desirable place to be; outdoor, sheltered but with full views. I obviously recommend that customers determine whether they would like outdoor dining or not and specify such when making their reservation. The food itself was better than average, but not great. The 3 choices of carved meats were overcooked and therefore dry. The tomato and mozzarella cheese was bad. The cold shrimp and crab were excellent as were the desserts. Overall, for a holiday brunch close to Balboa Park which was our next destination, it was OK.

We had steak & pork dishes with onion soup and salads as appetizers. The onion soup was the best we have ever had. The steak melted in our mouths and the pork was tender and moist. I brought my own wine, corkage fee $ 15.00. They had opened it at my instructions 45 minuets prior to our 7pm reservations and the wine was perfect. Our waiter Brad did a great job. It was a wonderful 30th anniversary.
