A word from Inn at St. Peter's Village
Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of French Creek, this is where you will find The Inn at St. Peter’s Village. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Inn at St. Peter’s was created in 1881 by Dave Knauer.

The construction of “Excursion House” marked the beginning of Knauer’s realization of the village as a recreational weekend retreat. This truly majestic structure underwent a complete revitalization in 2005, bringing it back to its former glory. As you relax with a cool drink or dine on the delicious cuisine on one of our outdoor patios, you will be serenaded by the flowing waters and dazzled by the amazing view of the ancient rocks and lush green landscapes of the French Creek. The Inn at St. Peter’s offers 6 luxurious rooms and one suite. No two rooms are alike...each offers unique decorative touches tastefully recreated to match the bygone era of the original inn.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "good accommodating hostesses for the restaurant and outdoor bar"
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "We always have a great experience when dining here, this visit I ordered the Chicken Gnocchi & by chance it was 1/2 price pasta night. My pasta was very good & fresh. My friend ordered the veal parm, a rather large portion, she said it was delicious. She was unable to finish her meal. We both ordered dessert, she ordered the chocolate cake, made by Sweet Streets & she said it was very good but an extremely rich chocolate cake, so she didn't finish her entire piece. I ordered one scoop of the salted caramel ice cream & the mix of sweet & saltiness was just perfect. I highly suggest stopping in for a bite & trying out the restaurant. They have a nice outdoor patio overlooking the creek, we chose to dine inside which is nicely decorated"

  • "The food is good bar food and the service was attentive... but what you really come for is the view which is spectacular."

  • "St. Peter's Village is quaint, small and worth a trip. The Inn offers extensive outdoor dining opportunities overlooking a gorge filled with huge rocks that did not get ground up in the last ice age. Lots of trees, so even on a hot summer day, it is quite pleasant. Omelettes were good as were the salads. Better if they had not arrived simultaneously. I suspect that Sunday noon did not find the first team in the kitchen. A lovely drive and a lovely lunch. What could be better?"

  • "We went for the entertainment, which was amazing to hang out on the deck on a beautiful day. They had messed up my reservation, but accommodated my request anyway. They had good drink specials, and the food was good."

  • "Great service and the patio view was gorgeous overlooking rocks and water! Wednesday's are half-price pasta night which was a fun discovery."

  • "Pizza is very good. However, since had the St. Peter's Pizza w Crab & Shrimp and their saugage & pepperoni, suggest one stay with the Classic Pizza of just cheese & tomate sauce, as the others topping are of decent quaity but nothing special. At $ 2 extra for additonal topping type, lite sprinking anyway, so just increase cost to diner to enjoy fully a better quality topping. Crust made from King Arthur's Flour, so has great texture, texture & colour. Homemade Iced Tea is S U P B E R B! well flavored so not diluted w served w ice. Best ever as tried in every eatrey fr Maine to the South."

  • "We had never eaten here before, but had heard that it was a lovely place, and we wanted to visit St. Peter's Village. The view from the deck was very nice, and the indoor dining room was tastefully appointed. Our server was polite but unenthusiastic. The food was hardly "fine dining." Where there were a few interesting selections on the menu, beware of the chef's tendency to over salt just about everything. My wife's mushroom soup was inedibly salty; thankfully the proprietor didn't charge us for that. My Caesar's salad was also overly salty, and I sent it back for a plain salad with the dressing on the side. My wife hardly touched her pasta entrée; while it had an interesting flavor, it too was overly salty."

  • "We have been trying to sneak over to this place for a long while . The opportunity finally presented itself and so glad we took it. Deck was great. The view of the rocks, trees and water. Just sitting hearing the water run was great. Just had burgers....very good. Lemon Drop Martini was also very yummy. Can't wait to get back there."

  • "I came with a ftiend for Sundsy brunch. The service was excellent and the food was delicious, and served promptly. My friend had the french toast, that was so generous and tasty that she took some home!. I will be coming back soon to eat on the scenic outdoor area with my husband. St. Peter's Village is a delightful, quaint little area with gift shops, beautiful scenery, etc --a hidden gem in the hills of Chester County --you must come to see!"

  • "Made reservations for outside dinning and the restaurant called to confirm. But when we arrived no one had a clue and we were sat inside. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting. But Jack doesn't know what Jill is going."

  • "Great location but the food and service were a big disappointment. We had the perfect setting for Mother's Day brunch but our waitress was no where to be seen for the majority of our meal. Did not see a general manager either. Too bad because its such an awesome setting."

  • "This is a beautiful little restaurant in a quaint natural atmosphere. The food was excellent as was the ambiance. We enjoyed choosing our order from a list of wonderful choices on the menu. The staff was very friendly and provided us with great service. I very much enjoyed the dining room ambiance."

  • "We were married at Saint Peter's village in September and it was beautiful! We returned 6 months later for dinner and we're still treated like royalty. We will be returning for every anniversary. We absolutely love it there. Jocelyn is great! Oh! And not to mention the food is fabulous! Everyone at our wedding raved about the food. Can't wait to stop in for brunch! 5 stars!"

  • "It's been a while since we have eaten at the Inn at St. Peter's Village. It is a little out of the way, and so we don't often think of it. But boy am I happy that it popped into my head the other night! We were very happy with our meal; the food, the timing and delivery of the food, the promptness of our waiter in checking on our drinks. Each course was wonderful, the ambiance was delightful, and again, the food was perfect! Will be back there soon with friends and family!"

  • "We celebrated a birthday dinner here on a very cold and snowy night and our table was next to a very warm and cozy fireplace. It was so relaxing and the ambience was soothing. It was not crowded and this allowed for great converstation for our family. The staff was attentive but low pressure and friendly. The menu is kinda boring and could use some updating. All in all the food food was cooked perfectly - especially the steaks."

  • "Living in outer Chester county there are not many restaurants that offer good food and pleasant ambiance. The inn at St. Peter's offers both. It's softly lighted dining room coupled with good food provide an atmosphere of conviviality that is hard to find in the area. A definite repeat."

  • "A cozy place to celebrate the Christmas holidays on a snowy Sunday evening. Food was delicious and the server was knowledgable congenial. The strip steak and crab cake were especially tasty and well prepared. The bread and rolls were fresh from the oven and accompanied by herbed oil and Parmesan cheese."

  • "Dined and stayed at Inn before. Charming Inn, ample parking, tried the Sunday Pizza special that begins at 2PM. It was a OMG experience. The only other thin crust that was as crisp was Osteria, in Philadelphia and Manko & Manko in Ocean City, NJ. On way out, spoke w chef who shared his secert flour, it's defineltly a quality brand and he knows his baking. The Pizza Pies were so large for each one of us , that we enjoyed having two more meals with the rest taken home. along side our home made salds. That pizza heated up very well over the next two days. Enjoyed traditional w pepperoni & saugage and other one with seafood. Great memories created when there w lovely breakfast on Veranda and hugh modern baths."

  • "We went here for brunch last year for the first time in conjunction with getting the family Christmas tree with our daughter and her family. We decided immediately that it should become a family tradition! We returned this year and were delighted to have had a wonderful experience once again. We are looking forward to this new family tradition with our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters for many more years to come."

  • "I drove past this lovely place 30 years ago and made a promise to return some day - well that some day was this past weekend and I am sorry I took that long. The food is fantastic the ambience is perfect for a romantic evening and the staff was extremely attentive, fun, and professional. I cannot wait to go back! There is an outside deck which is seasonal, but the view and the sound of the babbling brook is very relaxing."

  • "This is SUCH a beautiful restaurant, it's frustrating that they cannot decide what they want to be. This should be a romantic destination place, not one that has chicken fingers and burgers on the fine dining menu. While the food was quite good, the pairings were very odd -- the NY Strip covered in creamy goat cheese and caramelized onions? I mean SLATHERED in both, which made it impossible to taste the meat. When I scraped everything off and tasted the steak, it was delicious -- perfectly cooked, juicy and flavorful. The sides were broccolini and cous cous, which did NOT pair well with the steak -- though in their own right they were pretty good."

  • "Our evening was sensational. we were a group of 6. We began with drinks in the bar, moved to the dining room for an outstanding meal and then stayed over . First time doing that. All lovely and I would recommend all of my evening to everyone!! Staying over was a treat. The room was very comfortable and lovely. We had breakfast at the bakery next door, out side and it was delicious as well. My husband and I have eaten there many many times and introduced friends and family to the location at all different seasons."

  • "Took my wife to the inn for a weekend getaway on her 50th birthday. Booked restaurant initially for convenience purposes. It turned out to be a great choice. Informed them prior of a gluten issue and they provided suitable alternatives. The food was well prepared and reasonably priced. A good selection of wines were available. Service was sharp and the waitress knowledgeable and entertaining.Would highly recommend."

  • "My family gathered to celebrate an 83rd birthday. From young to old we were delighted with the choice of food, the quietness (We could hear one another!) and the service. The waiter watched but did not intrude. He was pleasant and helpful. Now when my husband and I think of going out for dinner, casually or formally, we will happily dine at St. Peter's Inn. In the warmer weather, we include our autistic grandson, who loves the outdoor dining, the rocks, and the informality."

  • "Host and wait staff were very attentive an friendly. The deck view of the wooded stream was eye-appealing. The sound of water rushing through the large boulders was more pleasant than the music (music wasn't bad, I just liked the stream sound). Soup of the day was great. I cook at home, but my soups aren't this good! My wife had the twin filet mignon, which had bernaise sauce on one filet, and bordelaise sauce on the other. It was exquisite. I almost ordered it, but the catch of the day was too tempting. It was a wonderful crab, shrimp and a whole lobster tail on a bed of linguini with a delicious white cream sauce. Good food, good price, good staff, good atmosphere."

  • "My wife and I decided to return to St. Peter's Village after an absence of nearly two decades. We were pleasantly surprised with some wonderful weather, and opted to dine outdoors on the Inn's back deck overlooking the monolithic rubble falls of French Creek. Our server was a (slightly distracted) young man, who was initially very attentive. Our meals were delicious, generously portioned, and our drinks very satisfying. Our only complaint was waiting an inordinate period of time for a second glass of wine my wife ordered near the end of our meal. It turned out to be a problem with stemware at the bar, so, all is forgiven. We will return when the nice weather reappears next spring."
