INKANTO reviews from OpenTable diners
  • Fair experience / expensive menu

I ordered the duck and rice entree and rice was good but the duck was very very dry, we were given a wine menu that didn't have any wines by the glass and the waiter gave us a few options without giving us pricing and decided for the chilean house wine. When the check came that glass was 12.50 ... Thought it was pricy for this type of food... The only Item I really liked was the Ceviche mixto for an appetizer.

I had a fabulous meal here a couple of months ago. This time, not so good. This restaurant does not have an answering machine, so the phone just rings and rings. This annoys me no end. The yucca appetizer was very good, but my entree was awful--mild whitefish under a gloppy yellow tasteless sauce. Some other pieces of seafood were atop the fillet, and some of it was so chewy, I had to spit them into my napkin. My companion's roasted duck was so dry, it looked mummified, and the portion was small. The dessert, tres leche, is a classic, and they should have nailed it, but it, too, was tasteless and soggy. I've had much better at other Peruvian restaurants in town. So what happened?! Why the dive in quality?

Service was slow, one diner did not receive meal she ordered, wine prices wer excessively high. Food was good but other Peruvian restaurants in Sarasota serve food at least as good or better. Definitely has potential but needs work

This was our second visit to Inkanto; and we took along some foodie friends. They now love the place as much as we do, and will be back. Our servers, on both occasions, were extremely helpful; and the chef was willing to create a specially prepared dish, although it was a week night. The ceviches are creative and so delicioso.

Delightful food and service highlighted by a passionate presentation of Peruvian cuisine by the waiter. We enjoyed the entire experience. Must try the wines from Peru among the all South American wine list

We were looking for a nice restaurant for Valentine's Day and this was perfect. Our waiter was very attentive and gave great recommendations on food (since we were not familiar with Peruvian food). Try the drink made from purple corn. My date ordered it on the advice of our waiter and it was delicious.

  • I had the Corvina Ceviche
    LoveGoodFoodVIP
    Dined on 2/7/2013
I had the Corvina Ceviche it was fresh and very good. It was a big portion, I asked for medium spice and it was very light so the server brought the red sauce which was really spicy. My husband had a mix of three types of ceviche, the Corvina, a "concha negra" and a tuna. All were well prepared and fresh. The wine selection is small but nice, we had a Chilean white and Cuzco beer perfect for the flavors. The only caveat was the salad which was freshly prepared but the dressing was not very tasty. We've been fans of Peruvian cuisine for a very long time and have had the fortune have tasted the best. Sarasota has many choices. Inkanto is one of them. We want to return to taste the rest of their menu items.

This is my favorite restaurant in Sarasota. Located in a strip mall, one is in for a wonderful surprise. The decor is extremely well done and the food and service ( salad, ceviche , shrimp, chicken) are all incredibly well prepared. The owner/host could not be more gracious. I wish that I could give it six stars

We ended up having a four (4) hour lunch with a couple driving up from Naples and we drove down from Tampa. The food was fantastic and different. The wines were excellant and different. They were very nice even though we stayed so long. We will definitely go again and we will recommend them.

We had 3 ceviches, yuca, duck and a wonderful fish stew....all excellent....the wine list va little unusual given all the Arg, Peru, Chilean, etc. wines possible; seems to focus on only one vineyard per country ... but was fairly priced.

First time to a Peruvian restaurant. Very ample food. More than enough to have some to take home. Food was very good. Some of the sauces have some spice to them so be careful on the first taste Service was below expectations. When finished we finally had to get up from our table to go find the owner to get our bill. This after waiting and waiting and waiting. Not good. We will try it again

Inkato is a revelation for those like myself whose previous Peruvian dining experience had been limited to beer-soaked chicken. My wife and I sampled a number of native Peruvian dishes recommended by the owner and our waitress and each was better than the last. Both were both very generous with their time and their suggestions. In short, delicious food, great service and very reasonale prices. A can't miss.

I have been to Inkanto twice while visiting my mom since October. Both times the food was delicious, the portions were extremely generous and the staff could not have been nicer. I do business in Peru and have eaten at many of the great restaurants in the Lima foodie scene and Inkanto was in the same league. Please try in Inkanto! you will love it!

The service was friendly and efficient. Our waitress Flavia took very good care of us. Ceviche of Corvina:  Excellent and one of the best ceviche I've had. Large enough for 6. Causas de Langostinos: Langoustine and seasoned mashed potatoes. Surprisingly delicious. The best dish of the evening.  Enough for 4. Lomo Saltado: Steak with rice and French fries. It was just okay,a little too salty. We were told that we couldn't request for the doneness because the steak is already made. Aji de Gallina: Yellow pepper stew with shredded  chicken. On the salty side, chicken was dry and not enough sauce for the amount of chicken and rice. Arroz con Pato: Duck leg was not as tender as expected and could not taste the cilantro. We will definit

The owner of Inkanto is a client at my small business and I thought I would return the support. We made reservations through Opentable.com And we arrived a few minutes early and as we pulled up in the parking lot,the hostess was already opening the front door for us. The Owner,Fernando took us on a mini tour of the private dining room, wine collection, Peruvian artwork and even the kitchen then seated us at our reserved table. I don't think because he has been to my business several times he treated us any different than he would another client. Our waitress Lucelia gave her suggestions and was very attentative

We had an outstanding experience here. The food was unusual and delicious. The owners did a beautiful job with the interior design--it is attractive and sophisticated. There are tables and chairs outside, but the view is Chili's Plaza parking lot, so I can't say it's an optimum environment to eat, although a couple of tables were occupied. The calamari appetizer was excellent. My date had a stir fry filet with vegetables, and I had fish stew. Excellent. I tried a dessert I'd never heard of, flavored with a fruit with which I was unfamiliar, and it was delicious. The proprietor was a very hard worker, with his eye on everything. You could tell he really cared about every diner. We'll definitely go back.

Food was great but service was inexcusably slow. We saw plates of food being carried somewhere, but not to our table. Finally, after complaining a lot, we were told there was a party of 20 in a private dining room (who we couldn't see) that was getting all the attentions of the kitchen while the rest of the patrons waited. 55 minutes after we arrived, we got our entrees, which put a damper on the entire meal. I would like to try it a second time before I make a real judgment, so please DON'T publish this one -- it isn't fair.

This new Peruvian restaurant is located in a shopping plaza dominated by Chili's on US 41 - Tamiami Trail, the main thoroughfare in Sarasota. The food is first class, authentic Peruvian. It includes several ceviches, he best being the mixed one. There are also a number of inventive seafood, poultry and beef dishes. For the adventurous, there is the heart anticucho expertly prepared, just like in any South American market. The service is understated, but professional. A highlight was a superb Peruvian beer - Cuzquena. Cost is reasonable and definitely worth a detour.
