A word from ink.
ink. is chef michael voltaggio’s first signature restaurant. alluding to the idea of permanence, ink. endeavors to create an indelible impression with flavor profiles that are inspired by the myriad of cultures that make up the city of los angeles. Thusly, he describes the food at ink. as “modern los angeles cuisine” and aspires to create an experience that will repurpose the term “fine dining” for angelenos. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "the new items on the menu are superb - this restaurant is one of the best anywhere in the world"
    Dined on 8/15/2014
  • "The food is incredible. After several straight amazing plates, we tried the egg yolk gnocchi and it was the greatest thing we've ever tasted. We actually had tears in our eyes. Highly recommend."

  • "My wife chose this restaurant for her birthday dinner and from start to finish we were consistently blown away. Between the superb service and attention of the staff to the creativity of the food and brilliant flavor combinations, we had an incredible dining experience that puts this restaurant in our top 5 ever. I appreciated that the quality of food and service could have created a stuffy, formal environment, but instead it was lively, fun, and a great place for a celebration. Go here. Surprise your senses."

  • "The food was extraordinary from the egg yolk gnocchi, salt and charcoal potato to the pork shoulder dish. A must try for foodies!"

  • "Everything we ate at ink. was absolutely amazing! The food, the beverages and the service was great. My only criticism is the food came out so quickly that I felt a little rushed to either eat my meal and go or order more food. I would have wanted to try everything but the food is so delicious and rich that I was perfectly full after sharing four dishes and the amazing apple dessert. The charcoal potatoes are a must as is the egg yolk gnocchi and the octopus. I could have eaten an entire bowl of the ink pasta that accompanies the octopus! I highly recommend ink. to anyone who loves good food and is willing to try different things but I suggest ordering in stages instead of all at once so that you can take time to really enjoy each dish!"

  • "Volt does it again...great time experienced by all, especially the great cocktails! The apple desert was so inventive."

  • "I have watched top chef for years and was big fan of mr. Voltaggio so I have wanted to frequent this restaurant for a long time and let me tell you it did not disappoint. It is quite simply the best meal I've had in Los Angeles. The food was beautifully presented and tasted even better. We shared 8 plates between 2 of us simply because we wanted more. I will be back again very soon. Thanks for the amazing evening Ink."

  • "A variety of choices is available. Each dish has a lot of creativity and different cooking techniques presented in an artistic way. Love it. Although this is probably the 3rd and 4th time we come to this restaurant, we always find it amazing."

  • "Great little dishes....plan on ordering many of them...not a lot of food each."

  • "ink. is the best restaurant in LA, in my estimation. The dishes are always beautiful to behold, truly artistic in their creation. And this might be enough in itself, if it were not for the fact that the food is also delicious. Michael Voltaggio and his crew have invented dishes that mix flavors and textures that are incredibly appealing and many times a new culinary experience. It is sublime. The food here is great, and it's also incredibly fun to see and experience. The service is equal in excellence. There is no restaurant that quite compares in creativity and expression. Thankfully, the gastronomic satisfaction meets or exceeds the presentation. And the desserts rock."

  • "The food at this restaurant was literally inedible. I would rather commit a crime, go to prison, and eat there for the rest of my life than ever have to eat at Ink again."
    Dined on 8/8/2014
  • "Great food .... Innovative dishes with great tastes and presentations."

  • "Had the best time ever!! Food and service were unbelievable. Drove seven hours just to have dinner for my son-in-laws birthday. Food was the best ever!! Loved the whole experience -"

  • "I took my mum here whilst she was visiting and it was incredible! Good service, great food, reasonably serving sizes and reasonably priced. Will definitely go back!"

  • "Excellent experience. Varied and imaginative menu. Provided for ample discussion focused on the food."
    Dined on 8/4/2014
  • "While still one of the best in LA for super-creative food, Ink showed some tarnish on their armor from the last time we dined. The charcoal potatoes remain an masterpiece of simplicity and flavor, the branzino was perfectly cooked even though the fermented grapes were a bit of a distraction, and the little gems salad was a modern interpretation of a caesar salad with an incredible little anchovy cracker. However, the beet and peach salad was unremarkable, the fried chicken oatmeal was just not good (literally steel cut oatmeal cooked in stock with cracklin on top), and the short rib was chewy because it did not have enough fat cooked out of it. If you stay away from these misses, you'll have an amazing culinary experience."

  • "Anyone who is looking for one of the ultimate dining experiences in Los Angeles should not miss a visit to ink. The food created by Michael Voltaggio is not only appealing to one's eyes as an artwork, but is a gastronomical sensation as you devour your food. This was our first time visit to ink. and I cannot wait until we can return. The food at ink. shows why Michael Voltaggio was the winner of Top Chef season six. The restaurant staff went out of their way to ensure that me and my fiancé enjoyed our anniversary dinner."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner on Friday night at Ink. Service was really good and caring, food was creative and delicious. This is a no miss in West Hollywood area. We will come back with friends for sure."

  • "Food was out of this world good, especially the egg yolk gnocchi. Wife kept making fun of the faces I was making eating the food. I am usually very stoic, but the food was so good. Traveled from east coast and it helped make the trip worth it."

  • "Quality of the food was the tip of the iceberg. Ink pays attention to every last detail - presentation, food quality, service. Serving so the table can share the food allowed our group of 4 to sample the majority of the menu. Unique menu options created an experience I haven't had. Wait staff had perfect timing. Dishes were delivered in a manner that we never felt rushed and were able to enjoy both the meal and the conversations. The corn was phenomenal; and I loved the lamb belly and wagyu beef cheek. There wasn't a disappointing dish served."

  • "Great service, eclectic food. Short ribs and Halibut by far the best. Appetizers all pretty bland and average. Wine menu is very good. Compared to Gelina's or Son of a Gun, no comparison. Those restaurants have far better food with a similar style of restaurant. We won't go back only because the options elsewhere are better and the food better elsewhere. Our server was great however."

  • "Overall-Very Good The most outstanding aspect of Ink was the incredible service. You could tell hospitality was an emphasis with the wait staff. I felt completely taken care of and there was an absolute attention to detail. I really commend Ink on achieving this level of care. The food was fantastic. The vodka cocktail was incredible. I had the fortune of trying the chewy beets, corn/chip dish, gnocchi and pork shoulder. The dish progression was well conceptualized. Probably the only item I didn't care for were the mushrooms in the gnocchi dish. However, I'm never a large fan of HTW mushrooms. My favorite dish by far was the corn/chip dish. Beautifully simple, but perfectly seasoned. Thank you for an incredible meal. -H"

  • "Never had a dining expierencd quite like this the food was amazing!!! Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu"

  • "This restaurant should be a financial gold mine. The tapas approach makes that you spend a lot of money in little time. The wines are expensive, probably around 10 times the bottle cost. But the food was always excellent and sometimes really surprising, making it worthwhile, at least for once."

  • "An exceptional experience. Highly creative cuisine." Energetic" is not the best way to describe noise level; "much too loud" would be better."
    Dined on 7/23/2014
  • "Spectacular dining experience. Attentive waitstaff, perfect food preparation, reasonable pricing. Dining was relaxed and never rushed. It's the perfect complement to InkSack sandwich place next door. I'd definitely come here often, with friends or family."

  • "The staff were friendly and went out of their way to ensure I had a great gluten free experience. The kitchen timing was impeccable. The food was heavenly. The creativity in the dishes was extraordinary. Even something as simple as Oysters had added features that made them unforgettable. We shared 6 dishes and a dessert. All were delicious and I would eat every one of them again. Oysters - Amazing; Smoked Trout - smokiness amongst the insane flavors; Beef Tartare - I practically inhaled this dish, so tasty; Salt and Charcoal Potato - One of my favorites. Pacific Halibut - The fish was perfectly cooked. Pork Shoulder I could eat this dish every single day..... Michael Voltaggio deserves his Top Chef crown! Bravo"

  • "We thought the food was fresh and innovative! The service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly in an understated way. A perfect way to spend an evening. The cocktails were delicious and my teenagers loved the homemade sodas. We can't wait to go back and taste the items on the menu that we did not order. Loved the lollipop kale and the amazing oysters!"

  • "This is a place I have been dreaming about ever since I left! It was such an amazing dinner. I took my fiancé there for his birthday. Plan on spending a bit of money, but well worth it. Small plates which are meant to be shared are jam packed with flavor and presented beautifully. We ordered 6 different items and dessert as well as a few drinks!"

  • "We were not pleased with our food at all. Service was slow and the place was way too busy and noisy."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "Ink FAR surpassed all of my high expectations and was the absolute best meal we had in Los Angeles. What a great experience."
    Dined on 7/16/2014
  • "All of the small plates were perfect! We had the hamachi, corn, gnocchi, polenta, beef cheeks, and apple dessert. We ordered cocktails when we sat down, but wanted a bottle of wine for the dinner courses. The waitress finally came back during the third course while our cocktails were completely gone since the first course. We ordered the wine and sat while she struggled to open it as our third course got cold. The other service employees (good runners, water fillers) were speedy and nice."

  • "We had a dinner for 5. The plates are relatively small, but we ordered enough and shared. In that way we had an opportunity to try more than a half of the menu. Some combinations were outstanding. Great atmosphere, modern environment."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "The food at Ink is amazing. I've been several times and never disappointed. Have taken foodies with me and there were all impressed. Get the smoked trout and the blackened potatoes for sure. It's not a quiet place, but the energy is great and the noise not obtrusive. Made for a great vibe. Wine list is decent."
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "The hamachi is also very special. In general, not cheap but a wonderful place to go share excellent food. The vibe is really cool as well."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "Great food with lots of creativity and interesting combinations, most that worked out very well but a few that didn't. You order to share for the table (if you like) and it enables you to taste about 5-8 dishes for two persons. Recommended if you want to try new taste combinations in a casual setting."

  • "Second time around at ink for my wife and I. Once again - a great dining experience. They've upgraded the lighting, which is nice. I miss the chickpea fries with lambneck gravy, but I also appreciate the newer menu items."
