  • "A celebrity chef is only as good as his food and this proves the point. Every dish was excellent but the highlight, of all things, was the amazing charcoal potatoes! Who knew? We loved the trout, octopus and everything in between but the simple potato is elevated to unseen heights here. Great drinks, attentive service and great location/atmosphere make this a top choice."

  • "This was the second time we had visited and we have enjoyed ourselves both times. The food is great and playful, especially the octopus dish and the smoked potatoes. The sommelier was very helpful and friendly. I loved the bottle of Sylvaner he recommended. Overall it was very good especially for a Monday night out."

  • "The food is really the star at Ink as it should be. 4 of 5 dishes we ordered were outstanding and creative. The absolute stand out was the egg gnocchi brown butter and hen of the woods mushroom dish. The octopus and Bronzino we memorable as well. So were the cocktails. We would definitely recommend and come back."

  • "Didn't really know what to expect but this turned out great. A bit experimental and/eclectic but great. Service was terrific and all food and dishes explained well and accurately. Have two picky teen eaters and even they found somthing to like. Kale and pig's ears delisious as was fried chicken (although not fried in traditional sense)."

  • "Food was quite delicious. Potato charcoal, oysters, octopus were all perfectly prepared and promptly served. The service was attentive and pleasant, but somehow, there is a "pacing" problem. We waited 20 minutes for our cocktails by which point our first 2 dishes had already arrived. Room is LOUD and tables are a little too closely spaced. Overall, a nice experience, but won't rush back any time soon."

  • "We had our first meal at Ink. I knew next to nothing about the chef. Notwithstanding the waitstaff was friendly and very competent. There was no rush even though we were there on a Friday. The plate were carefully plated and had a wide variety of flavors and presentations. The constantly appearing kale dish was really good here as opposed to many other places lately where it is boring or drizzled. The wine, from Spain, was very interesting and good. We will return."

  • "one of my favorite restaurants in los angeles. not only is the food very avant-garde and reminiscent of the 5 star dining days, in terms of the beautiful presentation. the combination of ingredients lead to very memorable, and delicious plates! highly recommend taking your foodie friend here to impress them. when chef Michael Voltaggio is there, the quality of the food is even better and the service is even stronger."

The menu sometimes needed a question or two but our server was happy to explain, so feel free to ask or you may not know what you will get exactly. Somehow the smokey flavors of the dishes were a pleasant surprise . My Favs the Egg Gnocchi and the Branzino , excellent , the Black Potatoes were also a must try for different and flavorful.   • "Party of 7 & we were treated like VIPs. GM took care of us & explained menu. All wait staff were attentive, knowledgeable & friendly. Hostess warm & welcoming. Not a snooty person in the place. GM noticed we were fans & took us to meet MV himself after our meal! MV & sous chef even signed my bday card! During dinner GM brought extra order of kale pops for the table "complements of the chef"!! Now to food & drinks- our favs: kale pops, hamachi, lamb belly, little gems, charcoal potatoes, quercia ham, egg yolk gnocchi. Side note-EVERYTHING WAS YUMMY! These were just the best. Market veggies fresh n tasty, beef cheeks tender, octopus tender & fried chicken w/ oatmeal good but a lil heavy. Drinks well made, balanced, & smooth. Must go!"

  • "I was very surprised by Ink. The dishes where very creative, well prepared and the ingredients together where amazing. The charcoal potatoes, octopus (the best ever), apple dessert! The drink menu was really great as well and they had high quality custom ice and perfectly mixed cocktails. They even made a custom cocktail for me with gin, yuzu and ginger - yum. The staff was also amazingly helpful and efficient."

  • "Wife's birthday 2 wks ago, we were blown away.Fans of Chef Voltaggio since Top Chef, had wanted to eat here for years.Not disappointed!Different eating experience, portions were relatively small, but we ordered several items to share.It worked well because we tried 10-12 items instead of 3-4.Some items were salmon, lamb belly, potato charcoal, beef short ribs, and lollipop kale. Apple and chocolate desserts.EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING, indescribable!Chef V is a culinary genius.Our server told Chef V we were fans and wanted to thank him, he invited us to the kitchen to talk even though it was a busy Fri night.Chef V was such a cool person he even took pictures with us! All in all, the best meal we have ever eaten and a night we will never forget!"

The only disappointing dish that I tried was the Octopus with ink pasta...both elements were a bit bland and unpleasant in texture. Would definitely recommend this restaurant."

  • "This place never disappoints! The gems of the evening were the lollipop kale (w/ crispy pigs ear), octopus (sous vide & then grilled! The most tender, flavorful morsels!) and the smoked trout. Although old favorites like the beef short rib (w/ puffed tendon) helps to round out the meal. The servers were friendly and helpful."

Also, perhaps the server slept through the evening's instructions, his parroted explanation of how to eat one of the dishes made no sense (we asked him to repeat it, even) and had he given it any real thought he should have come to the same conclusion."

  • "Had seen all the great reviews, and Ink has been on my list to try for some time. Finally had the chance for my birthday dinner this week. Setting felt comfortable and familiar, our server was wonderful, extremely helpful and well-versed on each of the dishes. The choices were enough that there was plenty of variety, but not overwhelming. Each dish required some study, as the components and preparation were all fairly unique. The execution was really great. I can't say I loved each dish, but some were really incredible. A couple were a bit too adventurous for my palate, mixing flavors and textures in a way that somehow didn't resonate for me. So, on the whole, it was a great experience, and I will return."

  • "Chef Voltaggio's "American Tapas" restaurant clearly shows why he won the TV competition a couple of years ago. There was not a miss in the 12 plates shared by our foursome and many of the dishes were memorable. Special standouts were the "Lollypop Kale," the Egg Yolk Gnocchi, the Charcoal Potatoes, and the Lamb Belly but the other 8 were just as good. My only quibble is with the service. We initially had a splendid waiter, attentive, personable and funny, but he left and was replaced by a rather chilly and snooty woman. Still, the food and the ambience were outstanding and had our original server stuck around this might be a five star review."

  • "This is by far one of the best restaurants I've eaten at. I continue to go back and the quality is consistent. Excellent service, spectacular food. My ONLY complaint is that they are not very friendly to those of us with a dairy allergy. Every single dessert lately has included ice-cream and they REFUSE to sub it out for sorbet which is kind of insulting when I'm paying for a dessert and I can't eat 1/2 of it because they don't want to sub sorbet. That's my only complaint...and quite valid."

We shared 5 dishes between two people and it left just enough room for dessert, which was the only so-so part of the night. The egg yolk gnocchi was the definite must try dish with the lamb belly a close second. Next time we'll throw an extra meat dish and skip dessert."

  • "The food was unlike anything we have ever eaten. Smoked trout first course, almost ordered another round. Salt and charcoal potatoes to accompany short ribs for the third course - as tasty as it gets. Dessert-mountain yams? Crazy, but my wife cleaned the plate. But...the second course of egg yolk gnocchi with hen of the woods mushrooms stole the show!! Runny egg yolk in each piece of gnocchi...HOW do they do that?!"

  • "Our server had some great tips on how to order, we went with 3 lighter plates and 2 heavier plates (party of 2). Food was outstanding service was prompt and un-intrusive. My favorite was the lamb belly with braised lettuce, mushroom hay, and yogurt curd. Short rib was also tasty and presented beautifully with a table side pour of pho broth. We finished the meal with a light and fluffy banana pudding with chocolate ganache 'rocks' and a rich homemade chocolate ice cream with plantain crisps. I Will definitely return next time I'm in town."

  • "This place is remarkably friendly and accommodating, with every one of the wait staff eager to answer questions or guide you through the menu. We sat at the bar since we arrived early, and like the setting there so much we decided to give up the private table, and eat there instead, having plenty of room. Gnocchi with mushroom butter is an absolute! So is the beef tartare. But I don't think you can go wrong with any item!"

The downside was that I found the ambient to be too noisy because of the sound of the music and the people talking which made me feel in a bar and i was expecting a place more focused on the experience of dining, but still i loved the experience, definately recommend this place to a friend and next time I'm in LA I'll make sure to drop by again."
