Diner Reviews
  • "The space is nice and the waitstaff are very friendly. Negatives include the fact that it is very noisy and the food is very hit-or-miss. I've been a couple of times and felt the food was very salty, but I've also tried things ordered by others that seemed okay. Okay for lunch...not sure if dinner is better."

  • "Great job with a menu that didn't overreach. The detail paid to each dish was incredible and the flavors worked. Great cocktail menu - they were right when they named it "the perfect cocktail""

  • "This is my third and last visit to this restaurant. Server was great.... but that did not compensate for the VERY dry burger that i ordered. Second time this has happened and I don't know what the problem is, but they have lost my business."

  • "Love this place, Ambiance, waiters with sparkling personalities, very high caliber food. Antonio (Chef) always spends a bit of time greeting and talking to us which is nice."

  • "We picked then placed based on location and other reviews. There is no parking or valet, but we found a lot nearby for $7. The atmosphere is great- good energy and cool vibe. The bar service was extremely slow. Great drinks though! Try the French Kilt!!! Dinner for 6 was just ok, with some great appetizers and salads but the entrees being medicre. Everything was very salty. Dessert was just ok too. Bummer, we probably won't go back."

  • "The ambiance is very nice -- sort of a mix of modern/factory and French provincial. I got an amazing cocktail with coriander and chile. The cocktail list is excellent. This was probably the highlight of my meal. When we sat down, our very nice waiter brought us some rolls, which were pretty generic and not all that fluffy or good. Don't waste tummy space on them. For dinner I had a pretty nice red snapper with corn. It was fresh and there were some nicely balanced flavors, but honestly it wasn't the best snapper I've ever had. It seemed a bit dry. But it was a nice spot for a romantic dinner and a nice cocktail."

  • "Industriel definitely hits the spot. Its concise, but unique menu utilizes interesting flavors with delicious organic produce. Also, there is happy hour 3pm to close everyday, with house white, red, or rose for 6 and beers for as low as 4. Also a great cocktail menu. Definitely good for date, friends. Call and reserve the upstairs if you can."

  • "Foodie, Boozie, Sunday Brunchie...it all comes together well here. Top shelf food, booze and ambiance without the entitled snobbery plaguing most of LA. I feel clever having found this place and really dig introducing people to it."

  • "We had an amazing Father's Day brunch here this year. If it were closer to our home it would be a regular spot!"

  • "All ingredients are from a fresh, local source. Gnocchi was fantastic."

  • "I gave the food four stars above because I had to add in an extra star for the cocktails, which were exceptional. We also had a couple of excellent wines by the glass, including the Trinitas chard, which is hard to find. However, considering they smoke the meats themselves, the bacon was extremely disappointing--dry, slightly burned, and tasting of nothing so much as salt. The maple bacon was much better, but too sweet for my tastes. I sampled the lamb pastrami and found that nicely spiced, but a companion felt it was too gamey. The pulled pork had great flavor, but was not really "crispy" as advertised, and was served on mediocre bread. The eggs, supposedly with chili oil, were flavorless. I would try this place again, but it needs work."

  • "Always dine at this restaurant at least 2 or 3 times when I am in downtown LA. Never disappoints!"

  • "Funky, chic decor and efficient and friendly service. The menu is interesting with creative salads and an array of small plates. For the entree, two of my companions had the duck which was excellent; and one was happy with her steak. Alas, I ordered the chicken which looked beautiful on the plate but was dry (as chicken so often is). (I probably should have sent it back but didn't want to break the happy mood.) Restaurant is in a good location in slowly-reviving downtown LA, with convenient parking ($7) in the First and Wilshire garage across the street."

  • "My dinner companions and I did not enjoy our experience here, sadly. The ambiance is fine, not my style, but fine (think Restoration Hardware meets Pottery Barn). The food was okay- nothing noteworthy to speak of. The drinks we ordered were bartender picks and they tasted watered down. The noise level was very loud, and it was difficult for my fiends and I to hear one another. But the biggest disappointment was the service. There were many errors made throughout the meal that were at the hands of the staff, i.e., wrong items rung in, entrees arriving before appetizer, dessert arriving before we finished our entrees! The overall vibe of the evening at the restaurant was pretty uncomfortable and we all decided we won't rush back anytime soon."

  • "Good ingredients, so-so execution. The kale salad was very good, the goat cheese appetizer was fine, the gambas (prawns) were super spicy, indian food spicy, which killed the garlic flavor it was supposed to have. The goat cheesecake was not sweet, and way too dense. It was more like cheese plate desert. I may go a second time in some time to see if it improved a bit. May be it was us, because the place was crowded for diner."

  • "Although one staff member gave the orders for half out party of 6 to the wrong table, they comped us another round of drinks and brought our new orders out very quickly. i liked the way they handled their mistake. The speed was particularly impt because we ate there pre-theater."

  • "It's one of the best spots in Downtown proper in my opinion. Farm to table style, always great and the service is phenomenal. I'm a fan."

  • "The Food was really good, but the presentation was trying too hard to be creative. when you have to fight to get to your food out of these super hot boiling high rise bowls, or the deep wooden bowls which makes you wonder how sanitary wood is as a dish used in a public restaurant you are not having a relaxing time. Finally we asked for the food to be placed in a normal plate so we could actually get to eat it. the seating is so low you will feel like you are a kid at the adults table that added to the deep dishes just made it that more difficult and we were both above 6' tall . The decor is great and the food also good which is a shame this place could be a hot spot but we won't come back anytime soon. "

  • "Had the salmon and apple cobbler for dessert. Both were excellent! The Violet Beauregard cocktail is amazing! The gin they use really ties it together. The Six Grapes Port (?) really paired well with the cobbler too. The server's recommendation for it was spot on!"

  • "Great for a casual business lunch that's not the same old same old. Industriel offers really great food in an artistic, industrial-modern setting. They take reservations. For those reasons alone, I would give it a high rating. But what really puts this one over the top is that the chef/owner always seems to be there. And you can tell that he cares in and and takes pride in his work. In these days of large chain restaurants and celebrity chefs, it's nice to meet someone so engaged with the actual restaurant."

  • "Went for Mother's Day and the Pre-fixe menu did not have any Vegetarian, Vegan, or Pescatarian options. All of our party save one are at least one of these restricted diets. The server, although pleasant, was eating as she walked up to our table and had an attitude when we asked her about the options on the brunch menu. We were told that the kitchen only prepped for these items and that she couldn't accommodate our dietary restrictions. "

  • "We had a great dinner at Industriel on Saturday. The food was great. They create interesting dishes without being overly fussy. They understand how to balance flavors and seasoning beautifully. Our waiter was jovial and helpful--we'd had a good wine on a previous visit and he made sure the Sommelier got us something comparable. (The first pick is no longer available.) After we ordered, however, he disappeared. There was a small time-delay before our firsts arrived, but we were enjoying the evening, so it wasn't a bother. No idea what happened, but the friendly staff corrected the situation quietly and professionally."

  • "Food is delicious, innovative, and really "farm-fresh." Vegetables and fruits are picked the day of, which can only mean they support and buy from local farmers and markets, which I admire. Atmosphere is real cool-vintage photography, mismatched posh furniture, with a hint of rusticity. And most of all, the staff/servers are always amazing. This is my second time there and they are all very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend this place and will return frequently. Btw, the gnocchi is to die for. "

  • "Overall, very good experience. As you enter, the smoker aroma is very tantalizing. Food was imaginative and well-prepared, although a bit lacking in seasoning. Two of us had the special bloody mary and were disappointed - it was definitely lacking in seasoning. Suggestion - offer a traditional one in addition to the special one. Also, all four at our table asked for their fries to be extra crispy - only two arrived that way. Would definitely try again."

  • "This is quickly becoming one of my favorite Downtown eateries. One can choose entres like the duck confit (my personal favorite) or stick with shared little plates (as at a tapas restaurant). All of the dishes are created from unusual combinations of tastes that work perfectly, many including savory and sweet together, i.e., fruit with meat, which I love. The waiter duties are handled by teams of very friendly and helpful servers. The experience here keeps me coming back, both for lunch and for dinner. Oh, and for non-red-meat eaters, the onion soup is based on duck broth rather than beef. "

  • "Great food and drink. Had the cheese plate and duck confit. The cheeses were very interesting and nicely presented. The duck was perfectly prepared and with matching accompanying side dishes. Good and attentive service."

  • "Service was good food was excellent. Although, a hair was found in our French toast and a fruit fly dove into our coffee. Over all a little disappointed in the managements approach to rectify these flaws during our dining experience. Once we notified one of the bussers of the hair in our food, he quickly took it away. Our server then approached us asking if we would like another order. Honestly, after only two bites of my plate I had no appetite for it at this same visit. She then said she would take it care of it and that was it. Essentially, I did not pay for something that I did not eat. We did not expect our entire bill to be comped but a little something extra would have us feeling better about the entire over all experience. "

  • "Went here for my mom's 59th birthday party. The food was unbelievably good, and while some of the previous reviews mentioned that service could be hit or miss, I found the service to be great. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will definitely come back!! Try the gnocchi."

  • "On this trip to Industriel, I went back to what made me fall in love with the restaurant in the first place--their salads and small plates, which are much better than the sandwiches. You just need someone to share with! Kale, quinoa, and falafel make a perfect lunch for two."

  • "Had to wait more than 30min past our reservation to be seated. The host barely greeted us when we walked in, we had to flag him down, and then disappeared. I asked for the manager but apparently the host was the owner, i felt he did a poor job of handling the front. Our server had to have us repeat our order at least 3 times and each time he kept not hearing or missing an item. After our first courses, the rest of the plates took a while to come out, I had to ask where the rest of our meal was and I'm usually asking to slow down service since I don't like to be rushed through my meals. I will have to say the staff was all very nice, just not very good at what they're doing. The food on the other hand was delicious."

  • "Industriel has a lot going for it: wonderfully prepared dishes, a funky and cool atmosphere and a pretty rockin' location on 6th and Grand in downtown LA. What dinged it for me was the nose-up attitude that I didn't appreciate. From the moment, I walked in, it was chin nods substituting for agreement and slanted eye rolls to indicate directional guidance. Really? What, do you have a rep to protect? Loose the attitude and focus on your terrific food (I had the brioche french toast at brunch and a great glass of freshly squeezed OJ, yum!) and you'll be a winner all around."

  • "Very interesting food but terrible service. They were down a waiter so we tried to be tolerant but it was ridiculous. They must have been down a busboy, too. And the "host' who was "helping" was not helpful at all. Took our order but didn't write it down and surprise - it got all messed up. They messed up the bill too and could barely explain what was wrong. Stunningly unprofessional staff. However, the food was very good. Even though our MIA waiter did tell us it was too bad we were not there a month ago before the chef changed some recipes as the old recipes were really good. WHAT??? Would like to try again with a real waiter but probably will not return - too many other good places to go. And very loud. Crowded. Upstairs better."
