A word from Indique
Indique is coined by combining India and the unique. The two-story courtyard is bordered by carved white marble railings. Bold colors and rich fabric lend a refined yet casual ambience to the inviting space. Stark white stylish tableware works as the canvas for the artful creations of the kitchen.
Appearances and flavors are given equal attention and both excel. Appetizers, named First Tastes draw on traditional Indian favorites and contemporary innovations like tapas or meze and served on small plates. Tandoor specialties shine here with rare coastal seafood and regional dishes from the south of India. Attentive service complements the sophisticated kitchen. **For parties larger than 4 people, please book through the restaurant website; www.indique.com **

Had another very nice meal at
Indique. I have patronized this restaurant since it opened, albeit infrequently, as it is not in my neighborhood. Previously, it was very difficult to get in, but the past couple of times that I went, it was quite easy. I'm not sure why this has changed, or if it was just my timing, but it was to my benefit! I recommend the food and atmosphere."

This neighborhood is often ignored
by residents and tourists a like, but Indique gives you a great reason to check out the area. It offers a nice blend of South Asian cuisine; highly recommend the shrimp curry."

My husband and I have been here 5
times. Always a joy. We especially enjoy making a meal of a variety of small plates."

Indique is my favorite spot for
Indian food in DC. Delicious food, prompt service, and a cozy ambience. Highly recommend that lamb vindaloo."

A very romantic location just at
the western entrance of the Cleveland Park Metro. Unusual layout, with a second floor balcony overlooking the first floor. If possible aim for the second floor table by the window. Food is quite good, sort of nouveau Indienne, if there's such a thing (and if I got my tenses right...). Could have used one or two more standard dishes, and a few seemed to push their luck in terms of combinations, but overall quite distinctive. Mixed drinks are excellent, including the margarita with tamarind. I also ordered out food during a snow storm, and it proved to be a quite unusual carryout option."

Everything I come to this
restaurant I am never disappointed. Always a delight to come here I will continue to tell my friends."
Dined on 3/9/2014
Always good. Can count on this
place to be food for bringing out of town guests who want Indian and unusual food. Yet not expensive. Always had goof service as well."
Dined on 3/7/2014
This was our first time dining
here and really enjoyed our meal. We shared the mussel appetizer and it was so delicious that we didn't leave any sauce. We each had the mulligatawny soup (very subtle, light and delicately delicious). My husband had the lamb shank (excellent) and I had the chicken appam, a dish that I've never had (and we eat lots of Indian food as well as cook it at home). The chicken dish was so-so - rather bland. Loved the appam, though - it reminded me of Ethiopian, injera bread. For dessert, my husband had the rice pudding and I had their yogurt dish (can't recall the name but if you like yogurt, it's great). All in all, a great restaurant, location (right outside the Cleveland Park metro)."

Everytime we visit this restaurant
we enjoy the food and the servers are always friendly! We are lucky to live close by!"

they lost our order and we waited
and waited. they comped us ONE beer. hardly not equal. hard to smell wonderful indian food and not have it on your table"
Dined on 2/23/2014
The food is delicious, and the
staff are friendly. It just takes a long time for the food to come out!"
Dined on 2/14/2014
Always a step up from the average
Dined on 2/12/2014
The food was pretty good and the
customer service was exceptional. I would definitely go back and recommend to friends."
Dined on 1/31/2014
Tasty small plates offer a gourmet
take on street food, plus good Tandoori dishes, classic curries vegetarian and meaty. Indique is always a treat. Better ambiance in Cleveland Park than Friendship Heights."
Dined on 1/30/2014
The dinner was fantastic and the
service was great. My friend and I never had an empty glass and both of our entrees were delicious."
Dined on 1/16/2014
I went with my girlfriend for
dinner here on a Sunday night during Restaurant Week. The food was delicious but the actual waiter was not helpful at all. We arrived early and had phenomenal drinks made by the bartender downstairs. He even allowed us to try parts of the concoction he was whipping up, great service. The waiter was not helpful at all and simply asked us what three courses we wanted and that was it. I have been to Indique before and the wait staff was phenomenal and explained the difference between a lot of different dishes."
Dined on 1/19/2014
The prices at Indique are low
enough and the portions large enough that 2 people can easily share an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert and get out for around $30/person."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Food took a while to be prepared
but it was very delicious."
Dined on 1/14/2014
Among the many Indian restaurants
in this area - within a 2 mile radius - Indique's food stands out in its creativity and more artistic presentation. Price wise, quite reasonable, especially if you go for the starter dishes where you can get to taste more variety without breaking the bank (the entree's are quite substantial in size)."

Have lived in DC for at least 10+
years on and off, and always had trouble finding decent Indian food that was both affordable and delicious with great service too. Just book a dinner here, the food and service both fantastic. Definitely going back again."
Dined on 12/29/2013
Had an 8 PM reservation --
restaurant was busy, and got very little attention from wait staff (took 10 minutes before we got water, and didn't get our complimentary chips for the sauces for 20 minutes). We were starving, and had trouble flagging down someone."
Dined on 1/9/2014
Old fashioned cocktail list,
worthy wine list. Excellent food preparation and presentation. Unusual dishes. We believe this was the best Indian restaurant we have ever gone to in DC. The ingredients were amazing. The owner and serving staff made sure that we were being served well and that we enjoyed our dinner without being intrusive to our party of 3. Rochelle"
Dined on 12/30/2013
The food is consistently
excellent. The service is attentive and polite. It is always an enjoyable evening."
Dined on 12/17/2013
We tried 3 starters - all novel
and very good, 4 breads also all very good and 5 entrees which exceeded expectations. Restaurant is deceptive and larger inside than its street appearance would suggest, but cosy with a friendly ambience. The waitstaff were very friendly and helpful and not intrusive. Would highly recommend this venue for an excellent and different Indian dining experience."
Dined on 12/11/2013
There are indian restaurants and
there are wanna be Indian restaurants. Indique was delightful! Genuine Indian food with a nice fusion flair. I'll be back!"
Dined on 12/11/2013
food was good, big quantities. the
lamb was well done and tasty. Tandoori chicken was not that great though, also the wine was not that impressive. But overall was great"
Dined on 12/8/2013
Had the tandoori shrimp and the
lamb chops, both had amazing flavors"
Dined on 12/6/2013
Since we are not from the area,
nor familiar with Indian food, we asked the waitress for recommendations. She was very charming and gave us excellent advice on wine, appetizers and entrées. None of us had been there before and we would go back again on our next trip to DC this spring. The prices were reasonable and the wait staff attentive. Everyone had raves about their meals."
Dined on 12/5/2013
Love this place some of the very
best Indian food. Great ambiance, comfortable. I make it a point to get here every time I come to DC. Well worth the drive into the city."
Dined on 12/3/2013
After reading about this
restaurant in The Rough Guide and reviewing quite a few indian Restaurants in DC, this came top of the list. Excellent meal"
Dined on 11/23/2013
Had a good meal. Standard Indian
food, nothing special. We in Capitol Hill, so we wouldn't come back because it wasn't anything special, but if we lived nearby, we probably would. The inside decor and ambiance was cute. Service was not terrible, but rather inattentive and slow."
Dined on 10/13/2013
This is such a wonderful place to
dine. I would recommend this place to everyone."
Dined on 10/26/2013
Given the number of wonderful
indian restaurants in the area we were expecting something a little more impressive both in terms of the food and the service. Good but not great."
Dined on 10/27/2013
I had not been to Indique in some
time so it was good to go back. The food was fresh and the flavors were clean and vibrant, though I don't remember the portions as being so big. All in all, a very pleasant alternative to steamer-tray Indian in a great setting, though I imagine that this place gets very loud on a crowded night."
Dined on 10/16/2013
This has become a staple for this
type of cuisine. Easy access by Metro. Never disappointed."
Dined on 10/8/2013
Better food than most, though your
dish will reliably include a bit more oil than is optimal. Always excellent service. Salmon sliders are a top neighborhood appetizer. Tables slightly too close together along the big wall upstairs -- ask for one overlooking the 2-story entry."
Dined on 10/11/2013
They may have gotten a new chef,
because the food quality has gone downhill. Onions and crushed corn chips were sprinkled on the samosas."
