Diner Reviews
  • "Service is alway excellent and the setting is beautiful. Sometime noisy because of the planes taking off but it still makes for an enjoyable evening. Thank you."

  • "No doubt this is a beautiful setting in all seasons. The food is good -- not gourmet, really, but good -- and the prices are reasonable. Wine list is very limited and, although reasonably priced, lacks depth."

  • "Our waitress just celebrated her thirtieth anniversary working here. Her excellent service and food allergies accommodations proved that she adds values to the customer experience at Indigo."

  • "We had a great time. The food was excellent as usual. The window table was great for seeing the DC skyline. Everyone was very friendly and kind.We will be back again."

  • "The food was great, the scenery was awesome, however we were seated in a room that was scheduled for a wedding reception and approximately halfway through our meal, we were disturbed by workers going in and out of the room to set-up the outside for the ceremony and the room we were seated in for the reception. I felt it was very poor planning on the restaurants fault to seat patrons in a room that you knew you needed to turnaround by a certain time for a special function. At one point we actually felt as if we were being rushed to vacate the room."

  • "The Staff was below average. When I come to a restaurant and purchase a nice bottle of wine and spend over $200 on my dinner, I expect a knowledgable friendly staff! This was not the case! The restaurant was a ghost town for a Friday night other then the out door seating that apparently they didn't have enough servers tending to. The food was all premade!!! From our oysters that tasted like they came pre frozen to, our entres that tasted like something I could have gotten for $10 at Applebee's!! The dessert was a prepackaged Brownie as well!! I'm so disappointed! The website makes this place look fantastic! But the reality is it's an over priced restaurant that makes nothing in house! You are paying for the view..... And that is it!!!"

  • "The menu has a little something for everyone, and everything we ordered was fantastic. Service was painfully slow however during our visit. Sitting on the patio was nice based on the weather, however shade is limited so avoid the outside on hot, sunny days. Best bet for eating outside is when the wind is from the north, as it provides a nice breeze not blocked by the building and also changed the traffic pattern of nearby Reagan Airport. If flights are taking off toward the north the sound is barely audible, but if they are leaving to the south it is very loud at times."

  • "OpenTable did a great job on our luncheon reservations; we were seated outside at our favored table-- great views, nicely shaded from the bright sun, quiet; service was prompt and friendly; our food was overall very good, if not exceptional. I would definitely recommend Indigo Landing as a great place to go with a group or just with a date, and I would recommend OpenTable as a convenient way to make your reservations."

  • "A friend and I try to get together a few times a year for lunch. She lives in Alexandria and has young children so I try to select places that are convenient for her. Our requirements are easy parking, decent food, and enough time to enjoy our lunch and each other's company before she has to pick up her children at their various schools or day camps. I hadn't been to Indigo in quite some time but on a beautiful summer day it was a great choice. The service, thank you Maria, was great and our cobb salads were quite nice."

  • "The service is horrible. It started with the hostess and then moved on to the waiter. The hostess could not find the open table reservation so I had to go back and ask that she double check. She finally found it. The waiter was inattentive and slow. I spoke to manager. I would not recommend this place and/or the waitress."

  • "Indigo Landing has really improved their menu and food quality. And its location on the water is pretty unique. Its laid back and quiet, with the exception of all the airplanes landing next door!"

  • "Scallops and salmon were delicious. Our server, Emerald was wonderful: attentive, friendly and knowledgable about the menu. Will return if in the area...the noise from the planes landing and taking off is not bad and shouldn't stop people from sitting outdoors ."

  • "Delightful lunch and excellent service. Very relaxing atmosphere also."

  • "Food was ok, not spectacular. The venue is excellent but needs to be polished up quite a bit, especially when you have an unhinged lightpost on one of the railings. TRAIN YOUR SERVERS. If I order an appetizer and use my fork, you need to bring me another when with the entree. When clearing dishes, DON'T bring dishes from another table to mine, and DON'T place those other dirty dishes on my table as you grab the ones from my table. All servers should be reciting the same specials (my server didn't mention the gazpacho that I heard offered at the next table). Bring a spoon when you bring the coffee. C'mon folks, this is "Waiting Tables 101" and if you can't get the simple stuff correct, you'll go the way of all your predecessors."

  • "Indigo Landing is one of my favorite places to go from May to October just to sit outside and enjoy good food, family and friends with one of the nicest views in the area. The breeze off the Potomac is cooling even on warm nights and kids love the game of counting the planes coming in and going out. The crab cakes and scallops are favorite dishes, both in ample proportions, and the smoked salmon and wasabi wraps are my husband's favorite appetizer. I'll be there a lot again this summer."

  • "Went here for Sunday brunch with family visiting from out of town. Good assortment to please everyone's taste. Everyone had a nice time and will definitely consider again when they come to town. Nice music, nice vibe, might turn down volume a little it was sometimes hard to hear each other and we were not right next to the artist."

  • "Indigo Landing is a great place for Sunday brunch after morning church services."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "Indigo Landing is a corporate restaurant operation, operating under a contract with the National Park Service, with unionized employees. Hence while the food generally is not bad, and sometimes quite tasty (like the scallops we had the other evening), the service runs from fair to poor to atrocious. While the servers vary in talent and attitude, the underlying problem is the poor qualify of Indigo Landing's management and its unionization."

  • "Indigo Landing is always good, but especially nice when the weather is perfect and you can sit outside. I had guests in from out of town and they loved the perfect evening outside with great food and ambiance. They didn't even mind the noise of the planes taking off from Reagan. Great for Sunday brunch too!"

  • "Food was excellent but service was poor. Staff apologized saying they were very busy, but very few tables were occupied inside. Deck seemed moderately busy. After sitting down, it was 10 minutes before waitress stopped by our table. It was another 5 minutes before we even got water. Night followed that trend."

  • "It was our Anniversary but it was not acknowledge even thought I made a comment when I made the reservation on Open Table. The food was very good; service was fine overall but a bit slow."

  • "Usually at a restaurant with an outstanding view (which Indigo Landing certainly has) you expect to get served rather pedestrian dishes. Indigo Landing's menu, though limited, has a rather broad range of excellent food. We particularly enjoyed the seafood and chicken entrée salads."

  • "The food prep is weak but ingredients fresh. On entering, the reception was less than inviting. He (the receptionist) seemed bored with his job. We were taken to our table sat for a while waiting for our waiter despite the restaurant not being busy. The sun was directly in my face so we decided to change our table. I flagged down a waiter in another section of the restaurant and told him we would like to move and he approved. We sat for about 10min waiting for a waiter and had to flag down another waiter who suggested that since we had moved was probably why we didn't get waited on. So it was our fault the service was poor. The restaurant itself had an un kept and disheveled feel. This restaurant is crying for better management."

  • "We came to Indigo for a special family occasion and we're not disappointed. The setting on the water with boats and the birds offering delightful diversions was just right service was professional and attentive. We ordered several of the appetizers for all to share, and they were all excellent. Of special note were the fried calamari -- light and crisp batter, and with the occasional banana pepper thrown for a nice bit of tang, likely the best I have had -- and the mussels steamed in a lovely tomato ginger broth. I had been before, and will come again. The rest of my family are now converts."

  • "I brought my husband here for Father's Day and was pleasantly surprised. We both had the jumbo lump crab cakes which had lots of lump meat and minimal filler. They were delicious. We really enjoyed the food and the scenic surroundings. Service was good and accommodating. We plan to return very soon."

  • "we showed up at 8pm for our reservation. We had to wait 20 minutes to be sat. Then we were sat outside and our server never showed after 30 minutes. I came to the host who was rude and asked for the manager. I asked to be sat inside at a new table in which she sat us back outside. She told us our server (an older man) was having a bad night. She took our drink order and never came back. 15 minutes later our waitress arrived with our drinks (which were wrong). reservations at 8 an i was able to have water at 9:20. I also was paying for a babysitter so I am glad my time was wasted. The manager never checked on us and the restaurant did nothing to make up for this. the host didn't say goodbye and I got an email saying I didn't show for my table"

  • "soft summer breezes are best enjoyed in the relaxing atmosphere of Indigo Landing. Comfortable, low-key atmosphere and a menu which gives everyone a choice: full meal, or light fare are all available and the view is incomparable. The service is spot-on and not hovering. Just right. This is our "go-to" restaurant, especially with out-of-town visitors. They all love it."

  • "I found this restaurant when Googling restaurants near National Airport and feel like I hit the jackpot! Even in rush hour airport traffic (weekend day at 6 pm) this restaurant was just 5 minutes for the airport and was wonderful. Free parking, great menu and beautiful view. It was not too loud and the ambience was really nice. I had the scallops, which were excellent, and my friend had the salmon, which she loved. The portions were generous, the service was wonderful. Wine and dessert options also very good. I would go back again in a heartbeat."

  • "Indigo Landing boasts one of the best views of the Potomac and downtown DC. Not only that but the food is spectacular. We enjoyed lemon garnished salmon, mussels in a delicious butter garlic sauce, freshly seasoned shrimp and lots more brunch items. Thanks for making my Sunday morning memorable."

  • "We picked a perfect evening to eat outdoors there. During daylight, some sail boats were out and about and the sky was clear enough to see the Capitol and Washington monument. Then, when dark, the city lights were beautiful. The menu was varied and interesting and the food was fit for my very Foodie friend."

  • "this is the place to go when the weather is nice and you would like a very pleasant dining experience right on the water, looking up the Potomac and seeing all of Washington DC. The deck is the place to be on a warm evening, can't be beat, overlooking a lawn going down to the water, some sailboats going by, lots of green and trees, and the river and DC set out in front of you."

  • "Our last visit to Indigo Landing was horrible. We heard it had been redone, so gave it a chance, for my wife's birthday. Admittedly, I was taking a big chance. It turned out to be a homerun. The menu had been totally redone, and the waitstaff (a huge problem before) was stellar. Both out meals were excellent. The apps are hearty, and could be easily shared. The entrees were great, tasty and more Han sufficient without being wasteful, and the desserts were excellent as well. The wine list is not huge, but had my wife's favorite champagne! Highly recommend it!"
