A word from Incontro
The word Incontro means encounter, signifying the coming together of the cuisine from the mountains of north of Italy, to the beautiful hills of Tuscany and the southern Italian regions on the Adriatic Sea. Our menu is uncomplicated, but there is always a new encounter with special items that change weekly. Our bread, dessert and pasta are made by hand on the premises daily.Continued

  • "Came here to celebrate a birthday occasion. Ambience was nicely decorated had that old world feel but in a modern sense, felt open and guest seatings were comfortable. Appetizers were delicious, I had the beet salad and the flavors were good but appearance on the plate could have been better. For dinner, I had the special snapper dish and that was delish but few of our company had the steak filet and was cooked slightly over what they all asked for. So for that, was loss of a star and our dinner came out slow. Other than that desserts were good, the chocolate ravioli was a good try but we really liked the espresso brûlée and the panatone. Would come back to try the other pasta dishes."

  • "This is second time we are at Incontro and I was not impressed. Crapes with veal were very heavy and oily an I could only eat one of three. Service was OK but nothing special. We had to wait for server for a while to order and to get the check. And they were not busy at all. Couple next to us was on their phones all the time conducting business. Overall what you get is not worse the money you pay for. This may be a good outdoor dining option in summer, considering Danville downtown charm."

  • "The food was good, but service was poor. It seems like the waiter had too many tables to take care of. Other tables in our area were having problems as well. This is the 4th time we have dined at the restaurant, and it is the same each time. Management needs to hire more staff or train them better. Poor service ultimately ruins the evening...even with good food."

  • "We have been to Incontro perhaps 5 times in the past year and are never disappointed. The food is very well done, reasonably priced, and the menu changes often enough that there is always a surprise. A great Italian wine list. Sitting out on the porch or in the front yard is wonderful in Spring and Summer. You can watch all of the activity up and down Danville Blvd. Heaters keep the outside warm when necessary. The staff and waiters are always friendly and welcoming. On Friday nights there is usually entertainment--a jazz band or singer. For lovers of Italian cooking, this package can't be beat."

  • "It's a small, neighborhood gem. The food was good, restaurant was small but nice & cozy for a good meal. We were served by one of the owners, I think & he was quick & came by regularly to check up on us. He was concerned when my daughter didn't finish her meal. We had to assure him that the food was good but she just wasn't a very big eater. We finished it off, eventually. It was a really nice meal & the ambiance made our dinner truly relaxing & enjoyable. We will be back!"

  • "All points about the meal had taken longer than we had expected: drinks and entrees were the longest waits. The crostini and polenta starters were especially delicious and I would recommend those to anyone. I had the ravioli special which included cod, anchovies and capers, and it was too salty. I should have known that was going to be the result, however that dish influenced my review. There were enough good points that we will try again because or it's Sat evening vibe in the heart of Danville."

  • "We met friends for dinner at Incontro and everything was wonderful, except one of the desserts was not brought to the table. Not a big deal but it took awhile for the wait staff to come over to check. In any case Incontro more than made up of it as they took accountability, apologized and did not charge us for the other desserts. So even though there was a lapse in service at the end, they did the right thing and made up for it. So we all left happy and felt we were treated very well. And we would not hesitate to go back again and recommend it to friends and family. The food is really exceptional."

  • "This restaurant makes all its own pasta. It's difficult to find authentic gnocchi that isn't chewy. It was soft, delicate and melted in my mouth. The lasagna was excellent as well. My mother said it was the best she's ever had, and she is diffucult to please. We also ordered the monkfish and veal which were good, but the pasta was truely outstanding. We had a sweet waiter that customized a dish for my daughter and told her he would bring her something else if she didn't like it. I can't wait to come back with friends who haven't been here yet."

  • "I was pleased with trying a restaurant in Danville, so when a friend suggested it...I was very happy to find it on Open Table! I had a hard time finding the place, as the GPS gave me the old address. Then, once I found it...I didn't understand the "parking in back" sign...until I grabbed a street spot after my 3rd attempt to find the place from "behind". Note, you have to take Railroad Avenue to get to the "back". The place is so very cozy inside and the food was good. I ordered the special, Seafood Risotto, which would have been better if it was less "saucy" like Risotto that I am more familiar with. I usually do not order dessert, but we shared an espresso Creme Brule which was DEVINE! Overall, it was a nice lunch, so I say go!"

  • "The restaurant looked like a house with several small rooms. Our table for two was quite small and next to a curtain that led into another room. The area was so small that we would get bumped from behind the curtain. We ordered two of the chef’s specials and they were very good. The service was excellent. We never felt rushed even though we stayed at our table for almost two hours. The noise level was high. Not the place to go for a romantic dinner but if you like good food and service in a high energy atmosphere this is the place to go."

  • "The menu is extensive, with multiple soups, appetizers and salads, from the typical (Caprese and Caesar) to the unusual (Arrancini and 4 different crostini on one plate). The pastas and pizzas are creative, the secondi are rich and gorgeous: duck, pork, steak, all modernized for beauty from the rustic origins, but deeply flavored. Initially seated in a narrow passageway that would have me bumped by servers all night, with a stiff breeze on my back from the open front door on a cool evening, we spoke to the hostess and were re-seated in a quieter cozier spot. Service was a little spotty (having to ask for water refills, the cappuccino we had ordered, and the check to be taken away), but pretty good overall. The food will bring me back."

  • "Prix Fix Menu - Appetizer: Tomato basil soup and beet salad. The salad was excellent, the soup tasted somewhat canned. Secondi : Risotto with a mixture of quartered strawberries. The texture was akin to oatmeal and lacked any flavor. Main course: Filet (Medium). I questioned whether it was a filet mignon. Tough and sinewy and marbled with fat. Served with a sauce mixture that separated into a two phase mixture of gravy and oil. Not appetizing and we only ate about half of the filet. The sautéed spinach was good. Mashed potatoes were mixed with the gravy and lacked any flavor. Dessert: Rice pudding and lava cake, the latter being better. Service was okay, but we had to ask for steak knives. Definitely not a steak house."

  • "Dined again at Incontro for Valentine's Day and once again was impressed. Despite being a very busy night, the service was efficient and the staff was very friendly, professional and responsive. They checked regularly to make sure all was good, without being intrusive. Food was attractively presented and hot. We really liked the way the restaurant, formerly a home, is divided up into several small dining rooms which are tastefully and pleasantly decorated. Although packed with diners, there was no problem conducting a normal conversation, and my hearing is not the best. Haven't used the outside dining area yet, but it looks lovely, with one large table having a fire pit in the middle! This could become my favorite area restaurant"

  • "I have been coming here since it opened and while the food has always been great it has gotten even better! The food is authentic, well prepared and by far the best Italian food in CC county. Both specials, the tuna two ways and the octopus pepper pasta were outstanding. They also made several other new menu additions which we cannot wait to go back and try. As good as the food is, I cannot say enough about the service. The staff is experienced, friendly and knows how to service their guests. We frequent all of the top restaurants in the 24/680 corridor on a regular basis and at this time I would rate Incontro the best overall dining experience in the county hands down. Keep up the great work!"

  • "The food was wonderful. I had the risotto special and my girl friend had the cioppino. Both very good. Reasonable wine list but not extensive. The service was good. if there was a draw back it was the noise level. It was very crowded (a good sign) but due to that the noise level was quite high. I will go back again but possible not a Friday evening."

The food was very good...I especially loved the Bruschetta Crostinis with four different toppings! I liked the decor and the fact that even though the rest was packed we could carry on a nice conversation - no too loud.   • "Another dining opportunity in the 680 corridor? Atmosphere nice & quiet where we sat. service friendly but flawed in aspects. food average. Wine list limited & $$$. service: waiter did not check 2 see how food came out & was very impatient with our bottle of wine making us feel like they wanted to push us out the door. food: polenta con funghi some of the best I had, creamy & gr8 flavor; not as earthy as I had hoped. Pappardelle con ragu di cinghiale very good; only critique it was a little dry & could have used more sauce. Veal piccata not well served. meat was precooked & not freshly made. Sauce 2 runny, flavor blah. Caesar salad good & well presented. Creme brûlée 2 dense. Coffee mediocre. Maybe 1 more chance 2 taste sum other dishes"
