  • Private Party Facilities: The Imperial has two incredible event rooms available for rent. Our Monterosso Room, just off the artfully appointed Lucia lobby, accommodates up to 80 for a seated dinner or 100 for a cocktail reception. The Monterosso features a built-in retractable screen and overhead sound-system, great options for enhancing your special occasion or meeting. The colorful Genoa Room features a one-of-a-kind photography collection and is a terrific choice for more intimate groups of 10-50 people. We offer a wonderful variety of menu options and we provide tables, chairs, linens, dishware and décor, making planning your event a breeze. At Imperial, Chef/Owner Paley and Executive Chef Bettinger will re-imagine and re-present Pacific Northwest culinary pathways. Exemplifying Oregon’s own James Beard's culinary philosophy, Chef/Owner Paley and Executive Chef Bettinger will explore menu ideas that have historic significance while exploring cooking methods and ingredients from the diverse bounty of our region. The most prominent feature of Imperial's kitchen is an impressive wood fire grill and rotisserie that will incorporate the use of native hard and fruitwoods. He said," we have a reservation on open table", and she remarked that we were late and then seated us in a glare filled window . We decided it was uncomfortable, in every aspect and decided to go to "Saucebox", bruce Carey's restaurant, one block away. DELICIOUS!"

  • "The interior design is edgy modern yet warm and welcoming. Service was informed and timely, but it's all about the food. Lucky Portland, we have a superior chef dishing out delectables at his eponymous location-Paley's Place and more recently Imperial. Small plate concept with inventive food--oh the amazing tongue with a duck egg called "Steak and Eggs". Where else could you have goat, tongue, crab, and duck in one heavenly collection of perfect? The duck meatballs with prune and whatever were immensely flavorful with a bit of a kick. The goat and pea crepes were original and delicious. The crab pasta with asparagus was amazing--the pasta alone would have been a splendid dish. Value for $? Fantastic."

  • "The noise level at Imperial was enough to make me want to run from this restaurant, which I should have. Very difficult to carry any conversation without shouting! The food was very mediocre for Paley's standard. I love Paley's restaurant in NW but skip this one. The kale & vegetable salad was over dressed and the grilled cauliflower was limp and saturated with balsamic vinegar, hardly nicely grilled as I expected. We stopped at this and went elsewhere for main courses."

  • "Imperial was our backup choice for our anniversary dinner - we hadn't been there before, so it felt a little risky for a special occasion. Never have I been so glad that our Plan A fell through - Imperial was really wonderful! The drinks were phenomenal, the servers were lovely and they were willing to accommodate our dietary preferences, and the food was great. We so enjoyed our meal there - we'll definitely be back! Very keen to check out their happy hour."

  • "Went on a date to Imperial. We started with cocktails; she had an Esplandido (loved) and I had a Harlequin (not so much). Artichokes for appetizers (she eventually was overwhelmed by the oyster mayo). I really enjoyed the ribeye with fingerling potatoes. She had the pasta with dungeness crab & preserved lemons (she noted it was very peppery & there were pockets of intense lemon). While this sounds like the food & drink were uneven, the overall experience was great. She was even taken aback when the server mentioned which foods had nuts in them (I noted in my reservation of her nut allergy)."

  • "As tourists in Portland on the Fourth of July (here for a weekend wedding), we were casting about for good restaurant. We called several, each of which was on summer break or closed for the holiday, but Paley's suggested trying its newer sister restaurant, Imperial. Knowing Paley's, that was an easy try. It was excellent. The clientele was a mix of ages. The food allowed one to mix and match among small plates and entree sized plates. The menu items were inventive and delicious (at least as many as we could try). And it was all done in a warehouse type space with a very good vibe."

The portions were perfect for sharing (thank you to our server who pointed that out) and each item we ordered came wonderfully timed (so we didn't have 8 dishes all at once). Our group practically licked the plates, we enjoyed everything so much! We will return, even before we get through the top 40 list!"

  • "Overall good experience at Imperial as always, however staff was unable to accommodate small child (age 3.5) with us as we were told they were completely sold out of pasta, were unable to cut heads off of prawns prior to being served, etc. which was disappointing. I would expect a hotel restaurant to have better options for a family. Otherwise, food and wine for the adults were very good."

  • "Finally made it to the Imperial and wish I had gone sooner. Food was creative and fun and delicious. My friend and I shared several dishes and wanted more. The grilled radishes were divine as was the grilled romaine salad. We loved our entrees and had fresh raspberry/rhubarb pie for dessert. It was great and we'll be back. It may have been a little loud when we got there, but that was during happy hour, but after that, it was the normal restaurant noise and just fine."

I had the half tuna salad sandwich which was delicious but it would have been great if it came with a small salad. My friends also had sandwiches and we split an order of fries that came with a great dipping sauce. I would order it again."

  • "First, "energetic" doesn't quite capture the noise level. "Loud" would be more to the point. That's why Imperial would not be my primo "go back" Portland destination as I usually prefer a more serene experience. BUT it will be on my go back list. My guest and I ordered several smaller dishes including the lamb tartare, roasted mushroom bone marrow, roasted cauliflower, duck meatballs and 2 or 3 baskets of super hot french fries- all well executed. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall a very enjoyable experience"

We ordered a variety of different items from the menu and all of us shared, it was really fun. Cocktails were great as well! Will definitely come back the next time we are in Portland."

The menu has a lot of eccentric meat options (goat?) if you like that, but we had plenty of vegetarian options to fill us up. Overall we will be back. "

  • "We unknowingly scheduled this reservation for our anniversary on the very night that there was a big parade and running event that went by the restaurant. Hence we suspect this may not have been a good night for the restaurant. The bar scene was quite noisy so this would certainly not be classified as a romantic spot, at least for an elder foodie couple. The menu was well conceived and the wine list nicely balanced. The preparations for the most part were exciting and had good complexity of taste. Salt was the big issue, especially the wood fired quail dish which had excellent ingredients but were overpowered by excessive salt. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive. We may give Imperial another chance, but more likely Paley's."

My wife loved her lamb, and my albacore tuna was also excellent. The service was spot on. Just wishing I'd left room to try the chocolate cream pie!"

  • "Chose Imperial for a before concert dinner after having lunch there some time ago. We were seated at a decent table and had a nice greeting from our server. From then on we had a series substitute servers and finally had to ask for our bill. There were a couple of large tables in our area restaurant commanding a lot of attention. Interesting, but pricey menu and cocktail/wine list (generous pours). I don't think we will return as the food was the only attraction (and in Portland you can't have that as your only distinction). The service and ambiance were not a good fit for our "date night". "

  • "We came here because we had had a great meal at Paley's Place. The ambiance here is really interesting (chandeliers made from bicycle chains). I had the pork secreto which was delicious (the secret is that the pigs are fed only hazelnuts for the last six months). Others had steamed cans (delicious), quail, planked trout, roasted broccoli and roasted cauliflower. "
