  • "There were four of us and everyone enjoyed it. I loved sitting at the tepan table. My ribeye was a little overlooked though. I asked for medium rare and it was more medium. Nice evening."

  • "Diaappointing in almost every way. There was absolutely NO SHOWMANSHIP. The guy did a simple onion volcano and THAT WAS IT. No other "tricks" and and no audience interaction. EVERY other one I've been to, the chef interacts with folks--asks them where they're from, if they're celebrating a special occasion, etc. and does lots of fun stunts--catching an egg in his hat, knife twirls, etc. Not here. And the food was mediocre at best. The steak was so chewy my daughter couldn't eat it. The chicken was blah. And it was miserably hot. Seriously, when it's 85 out, you need to turn on the AC In a place like this. We also rushed, and were horribly cramped--they squeezed 10 people onto a table sized more for 8-9. Terrible experience."

  • "My husband and I really enjoyed this restaurant, the atmosphere and food was great. This was our favorite meal on the island. Only small complaint was the temperature in the dining room. It gets a bit hot with all the teppanayki grills going at the same time, so some fans to move the air would have made this a perfect 5 stars!"

  • "Great service, great food. Exactly what we were looking for. For those going without kids, try to go later. We only could get an early reservations and there were a fair number. And get reservations! It fills up! Teppanyaki is the way to go too. The full experience!"

  • "the beef had a distinct 'old' taste ... not like aged 'old' ... more like old cuts, recut. the chairs have been refinished and re-bound since our last trip, AND they could use a 'lumbar' type pillow like the bar has in their already padded seats. i know this furniture store in kona that has great fabrics and exceptional padding, island collections. after a while you want to be able to just relax. and at 300bux+ for 2 adults and a 6 yr old, from bar thru dinner, i don't think that is out of line. service is always good, and its not benihana ... the 'chefs' need more work dropping spatulas and laughing about it is very hawaiian practicing to really be a 300bux dinner ... again, isn't out of the question."

  • "We went there on our last day on the big island, we really wanted something special. I love Japanese steakhouses, and visit them frequently back home. Normally when you go to these types of places the chefs put on a show and make it fun. Our chef did only one else trick, the volcano. He tried 6 times to build it, and kept knocking it over. He finally got it, but that was the only thing he did. When it comes to the food, it was average. I got the steak and lobster, the steak had a lot of fat on it. You get about 5 pieces and I couldn't eat 3 of them because there was so much fat. The prices are above average too. Overall I would not go back, its just to expensive for what you actually get."

  • "Went there with the family on Xmas Eve with my wife and three daughters. Been to other tepanyakis before that were more fun but the food was great though a bit pricey if you ask for steak. Good selection for kids that really helps. Good service."
