  • "We had a terrible experience checking into our hotel room at Hilton Waikoloa. We were uptight by the time we got to dinner at Imari. Due to our waitress Gail being very pleasant, she made our evening enjoyable! The Hilton Waikoloa staff should take notes from the staff at Imari on customer service! Gail was very friendly and compassionate. The food was excellent as well. The sushi was fresh. My husband had the lobster tempura & pork belly ramen. He truly enjoyed his dinner. He said he wish he could find that in Honolulu!"

  • "We were very dissatisified with the price, quantity and overall flavor of the food. We had Shrimp Tempure and a special order of Teryiaki Chicken Family style. The Chicken was not flavorful and 28 dollars for what I estimate to be 1/2 of a chicken breast. If there was teryiaki sauce involved, I could not tell. The Shrimp was good, but not as good as expected for this type fo restaurant. The Fried Brown Rice with Portugese Sausage was the best item that we had. My kids did enjoy that even though again it was a small quantity. I had a Wailokoa Smoothie and could not tell there was ANY alcohol in it. Overall, the most dissapponting dining experience we had the 11 days we were in Hawaii. I will say that the food presentation was fantastic."

  • "But if you dine in the al a cart area, you will be overwhelmed by teppanaki smoke. They say the fans are on, but it is clear they are not. The sushi bar area is more remote from the teappanaki area, but smoke wafts there as well."

  • "We try to visit Hilton Waikoloa Village every time we come to Hawaii, but we had never been to eat at Imari. I was very pleased with our meal. We opted for the al la carte menu instead of teppanyaki. Our server, Mitsuko, was very attentive and explained all the different foods in the bento. The sashimi was fresh and tasty, and altogether it was a wonderful evening!"

  • "Don't believe the Imari hype. I will make this plain and simple if you eat sushi and I mean real sushi not California rolls this is not the place for you. It's not sushi. We ordered a sashimi platter The Sashimi was all martnated and literally feel apart in your mouth. It honestly was a great base for poke but not sushi. To me it was for first time sushi eaters who are on holiday and want to try it. Obviously if you are eating here you are probably staying at the hotel, but there are other sushi places close buy and they are fairer in price and actually sushi."

  • "This is the best Japanese restaurant in Hawaii. The Maguro Sashimi is the freshest I've seen anywhere. California Roll sushi is made with real crab meat. The Bento combination dinners are the best value. Excellent service, delicious authentic Japanese cuisine, along with the fabulous ambience makes Imari the premiere Japanese restaurant in Hawaii."

  • "My husband and I had dinner and ordered off the menu. I believe if we had dined Hibachi style with the chef cooking at the table, we would have been happy with the food. However the menu options leave a lot to be desired. I had a chicken dish that was very bland, almost tasteless if it hadn't been for the sauce. The sushi was good. If you go, eat Hibachi style. The menu needs to be revamped!"

  • "The Service was excellent. Our two waiters, M.J and Brian, did an outstanding job of helping us with navigating the menu, serving, and recommending their favorite dishes. The Manager also came by twice. We split the Butterfish Appetizer which per previous reviews truly does melt in your mouth. We also shared Drunken Palm Heart Salad, which was also quite large, and is the perfect amount for sharing. For Entree’s, my wife had two Sushi Rolls, the M.J. roll, yes actually named after our waitress, and the BBQ Eel roll. It was good, but she didn't feel they were of any special recognition. The steak melted in your mouth, the lobster tempura light, crispy and tender, all sushi/sashimi very fresh and seasoned wonderfully. Dessert was fabulous!"

  • "Back for a second night because we love sushi. Service was really good, but food still just so-so. My wife had the special Surf and Turf. Scallops and Shrimp we very bland, no seasoning at all. Steak was ok, but only 1/2 a lobster tail. Expected a much better meal for the price. Again, the rolls were ok, but bland with no flare to them at all and about $6 bucks more per roll than the gourmet rolls we get back home fully dressed out. Nigiri was also double what we pay at home and the fish pieces about half the size (definately not worth the price)."

Food quality was good. Would go back. Not sure why not open 7 days a week since located in the resort. Was closed when we originally planned to dine there."
