Diner Reviews
  • "If you know what tapas are, you should go somewhere else. The taste of the food was poor at best. You get the impression that someone who has no familiarity is cooking in the back. We tried seven dishes, some of them - like the Moroccan crusted pork skewer (is this really a tapa) were so overly spiced as to be inedible. We saw a car park, come on, look around and leave abruptly. By the end of the meal I wished that I had seen as smart as that car."

  • "We try to go several times a month for our Isabel and Mary tapas fix. Addiction to great food!"

  • "As always, the food at IM Tapas was excellent. We had the white anchovies, the octopus, the duck, ramps, and one other dish that I don't remember."

  • "First time there. Great Tapsa food and service. Ambiance inside was very nice. Outside not. Take a table well inside the small seating area so you don't need to look outside at various car businesses across the street. We will go back for the food. Very good."

  • "I.M. Tapas is off the beaten path in Naples but delivers exceptional Spanish food, including imaginative tapas and great paella. Unlike the very good restaurants on the main drags (Fifth Ave South, South Third Street), I.M. Tapas is quiet and soothing, a great break from the hubbub."

  • "Good. Located in a shopping mall strip facing a car repair store. Tapas were tasty."

  • "Everything is great as usual. We discovered it last year and have returned many times. Everyone we send there is very happy. We want lots of people to go to make sure it stays there. This place is a gem. You will not be sorry you tried IM Tapas, I promise you."

  • "Relaxing relief from the often pretentious Naples dining scene. Terrific assortment of small plates to share with friends or family. Cheese plate not to be missed, many good wines to choose from. Wait staff knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely a keeper!"

  • "I have had a lot of tapas in great restaurants in North America, Asia and Europe and was disappointed in IM Tapas. To begin, the menu is very light on quality cold vegetable dishes such as classic asparagos. Main dishes were pricey, even for two. The deep-fried calamari, while not overcooked, had a distinct taste of flour. The chorizo was competent but unattractively presented. We did enjoy the stuffed artichoke hearts and shrimp but found the bread hard unless saturated with oil. Maybe it was an off night, or perhaps expectations in Naples are generally low, but this restaurant did not achieve the ratings given by previous reviewers. Nice place with friendly staff that just needs to up its game."

  • "WE always have an enjoyable evening at IM Tapas. The food is excellent, and done with such Spanish flair.. We always try some of our favorites that we enjoyed in Spain and add something new from the menu. The stuffed artichokes were so good that we had to get a second plate. We also enjoy the selection of cheeses that are available from Spain. Best to have at least 4 people. It is an anomaly in Naples. The atmosphere is quiet and you can hear yourself talk."

  • "Second visit, and I took a visiting friend who is an incredible cook and makes cheese as a hobby. This friend has taken us to incredible restaurants over the years, Tiffin Wallah in NYC, Bocuse at CIA in Poughkeepsie, etc. So there we were. We ordered white anchovies, stuffed squash blossoms, cod fritters, octopus with potatoes, and a salad. For dessert , we split the 5 cheese board. We had a lovely white Spanish wine that my friend knew to order. The meal was perfect in every detail."

  • "A really nice variety from familar items to unusual fare. Love that it is small and long so it stays quiet and sheltered. Wait staff was extremely good- there when you needed them, not a bothering you when you didn't want them around! Chef who explained tyhe cheese did a great job. Enjoyable all around!"

  • "IM Tapas is a true restaurant-gem in Naples, a city with many, many restaurants. The décor, ambience, food, wine and service are excellent. Located on 4th Avenue North, one-half block east of Tamiami Trail, IM Tapas is unlike the numerous casual and rustic nearby restaurants. Rather, IM Tapas would fit-in with honors on 5th Avenue South or Third Street South. Every tapas dish that my wife and I ordered was beautifully presented and delicious, the artichoke hearts filled with Serrano & Manchego being our favorite. If you want a large dish instead of tapas, IM offers larger plates including paella, duck, lamb, chicken and sea bass. IM Tapas quickly became one of our favorite restaurants."

  • "We had a lovely dinner. Food and service were very good. Atmosphere was pleasant, with a female vocalist who was entertaining but not overpowering. The location is off the beaten path but well worth the trip. We will definitely return."

  • "IM Tapas has great food and had great service. All new wait staff. New staff cannot get orders correct, do not stage tapas correctly, and ignore patrons. So sorry."

  • "If you haven't tried IM's, you're missing a treat. We've been there time and again, and it just doesn't disappoint. Occasionally the service can be spotty, but that's not the norm at this 5 star jewel."

  • "Wonderful Tapas place just five minutes from Old Naples- easy to park which was nice. The Spanish wines were terrific, and the wine list provided descriptions which were very helpful, The waiter attentive, and the tapas were fabulous. We hope to return when we are visiting Naples again."

  • "Looks like a storefront in an area that wouldn't suggest great food. It was delicious. One owner was there and he was pleasant and welcoming. We 3 pre-teens with us, the only kids in the restaurant that night, and they enjoyed dinner. The kids were treated very well...it helps that they are adventurous eaters. We had a wide variety of small plates and a couple of main courses. All were well made and had great flavors. Portions on the small plates were a better value than the entree sized dishes. Price would be my only knock on IM Tapas. A slightly larger portion or a couple of dollars less per plate and the value would be outstanding. The location isn't 5th Avenue; the food quality is but prices shouldn't be. Go for the food!"

  • "The fun of tapas is the opportunity to try a wide variety of tastes and flavors. IM Tapas has an excellent variety of dishes to try, each with a unique touch. Starting with warm olive tray with garlic and almonds, the zucchini blossoms stuffed with goat cheese, the empanadas with beef and pork, artichoke hearts, duck confit - all had wonderful touches! The service was a little uneven but the overall atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. A very pleasant and delicious evening!"

  • "Here's a chance to try many, many different takes on tapas and all of them are really good. Tried to think of which one was best, but they were all in the top tier."

  • "If this restaurant were on 41 or 5th avenue it would be packed. They have had some changes in servers recently but the owners make sure it is a special place. We love each and every dish each time...no joke. Loved the artichoke, empanadas, garlic shrimp, blossom tapas, and duck. Really no misses!! Keep up the good work!!"

  • "We come from the Boston area, have visited Barcelona and have not found a tapas restaurant as good as IM Tapas! Great food, great service. Prices on some of the tapa dishes may surprise you but you can easily enjoy an affordable dining experience. YUMMY! Great wine too."

  • "We enjoyed IM Tapas. Spanish food isn't the most common in the US and they did a very good job here. The beat salad with goat cheese was small but excellent. The sliced beef was fairly generous, with delicious spices and cooked perfectly. The potatoes and spinach that we had with it were nicely prepared. The staff was the friendliest, most helpful that we've had in a while. There were so many different options on the menu from piella to chorizo, that we're looking forward to a return visit."

  • "This restaurant is in an odd location but behind the black windows and door is great food, and lovely service. The atmosphere was wonderfully quiet which is unusual for a Naples restaurant. The décor and lighting was restful and tasteful. The food is unusual and beautifully prepared. The wait staff was very well informed about both the food and the wine list. It was a great experience."

  • "The small plates were very different, but very pricey for what you get. The food was good , but in our opinion, not worth the price. The sangria was very tasty, but the dessert, rice pudding was warm and gloppy!! For a spanish restaurant, it should be awesome. It was like something you would get in a diner. I wasn't impressed at all. I don't think that we would return. But the menu is different and unique from most restaurants in Naples."

  • "We have been meaning to try this restaurant; we found it was well worth it. We went on the Sunday after Valentine's Day, so the restaurant was pretty quiet. We had seen a prior positive write-up about the sangria, so we ordered a carafe. There were at least 4 glasses of Sangria in the carafe, perfect for two of us. We split the calamari, duck and potatos, all of them were excellent. Had a chocolate "something" for dessert, which was also very good. Overall, a wonderful experience! Paul & Judi Cape Cod, MA"

  • "The food is both inventive and authentic....you could be in San Sebastian or Madrid. Wonderful croguetas, sausages, salads, octopus. The service is expert and informed, and the by-the-glass list ranges wide and deep---3 different albarinos. The 2 owner=chefs will likely come out to see how you liked the food. Slightly out of the way for visitors, but so worth looking for---it's the kind of neighborhood restaurant everyone wishes they had in their neighborhood!"

  • "I'm a frequent visitor to Barcelona, and have probably been to every little Tapas restaurant in the Born district. IM Tapas was as good, if not better than the best I've been to. I'd highly recommend it for an authentic experience."

  • "Our favorite waiter left IM Tapas recently, so we were slightly apprehensive, but without merit, because nothing really changed. It is hard to say which restaurant in Naples has the best menu and food, but certainly IM Tapas is in the top 5, and no other has a menu as varied and fresh."

  • "The menu offers a variety of superb dishes. Very good, but this place only offers wine. Please keep that in mind. Quiet, with a nice feel. The only server was overwhelmed."

  • "Great food on a consistent basis. A surprise find in a non-descript location. Superb Serrano ham and awesome cheese plate, delicious spinach and zucchini blossoms. The best lamb chops and grass fed beef. It's Naples best kept secret. The flower less chocolate cake is superb. Skip the ice cream."

  • "Although the food is outstanding, the evening was ruined by abysmal service. In the past we have had good service from a waiter who was engaged and invested in our dining experience. At our last visit we had a waitress who provided poor service and was unapologetic when we asked for our check after having been seated for over an hour without even a salad being served."
