Last year the Christmas buffet was fabulous. Food and service were excellent.....we couldn't wait to go back this year and have the turkey and stuffing (with coconut). Unfortunately there was no turkey.

Ilima Terrace outdid the self with their Thanksgiving Buffet! Displays were abundant and a feast for the eyes. The food was amazing and provided excellent choices for all pallets. To have Thanksgiving with a direct ocean view only made the meal more delicious. A true spirit of Aloha was alive at Ilima Terrace! Thank you Grand Hyatt Kauai.

Ambiance varies greatly depending on where you are seated, it can be beautiful with stunning views or downright dark & dull. Food is always yummy & very creative for a buffet brunch. It's a Mother's Day tradition.

  • Kama Aina

Because we live here on Kauai, most hotels, restaurants, and some clothing shops like Hilo Hattie give discounts called "Kama Aina". These discounts are given to local residents and I guess to encourage locals to enjoy the resorts and to repeat visits. I found out about the discount because our waitress over heard my conversation to my wife about some activities in our neighborhood. She asked if we lived on Kauai and got our bill adjusted for the "Kama Aina" discoun; of course you have to show some identification to prove your residence. It would be good if there was a place on your site where a local could check "resident" and get the discount without asking for it.

We liked this spot very much. The food was excellent and plentiful. The service was outstanding and friendly. 35% of the tables do not have beach/ocean views, however. Even though we arrived early for our reservation, we could not get a table facing the ocean. This did not much diminish an excellent dining expereince, however!

Brunch is incredibly overpriced. lots of sushi. lots of dessert. ONE kind of potatoes (fried--how does that go with carved turkey or lamb?). ONE hot vegetable.
