Diner Reviews
  • "Having eaten my share of Arabic food around the world I can confidently say that this is some of the best you will find anywhere. April served us and was great. She helped us pick dishes that complemented each other and were really tasty. The music was good. I ended up buying some of the tunes they were playing. The dining room looks very nice with wood decor all over. There really isn't anything bad I can think of to say about Ilili. Top notch all around!"

  • "Beautiful restaurant with soaring golden walls, a quieter balcony for people who want to talk and a very accommodating reservation staff who re-booked our table when one of our party was unavoidably delayed. Plentiful seats in the bar area meant we didn't have to stand and wait, attentive service, and a Mezze dinner shared among all at our table with guidance from our waiter was a delight. The tabbouleh is wonderful - more like a parsley-lemon salad!"

  • "We had a great meal, with great service. It's too bad the main dining room has no tables-for-two. The smaller dining room is not as attractive."

  • "We ate at ilili with a group of 10. Had a nice round table, but the noise is so loud that I could only hear the person sitting next to me. It was sort of a family reunion so it wasn't ideal to say the least. The food was delicious and our waiter was very good. One of our eaters had celiac and the waiter brought her a special serving of whatever we ordered for each dish. My husband made the mistake of telling the waiter to just bring what he thought would be good, so we had way too much food and an expensive bill. But all in all it was very enjoyable."

  • "I received a gift certificate to ilili so I decided to give it a try for my birthday celebration. What a gift! The food and service were exceptional. I've had Lebanese cuisine before, but ilili took the experience to new heights. I won't be waiting until my next birthday to return."

  • "Food is great, but if you want to actually have a conversation with the people at your table, go elsewhere."

  • "This was our first time at Ililli. It was perfect for a quick dinner before a lecture and the food was quite good including some unusual flavors and spices. It is the Turkish version of Spanish Tapas. Everything we ordered was tasty. We would go back and that is a real vote of confidence."

  • "Beautiful lounge/bar area as you walk in, restaurant area is a bit tight with seating, but comfortable and very pretty; the music can get rather loud, depending on where you sit."

  • "If you love mezza, Ilili is a great place to enjoy a wide variety of excellent choices. Standards like hummus and tabouleh stand out from the crowd because of their vibrant flavors. Less typical fare like the cauliflower (Arnabeet Mekle) and brussel sprouts will make you want to eat your vegetables. The mekanek, kibbeh, tuna belly, shawarmas, etc., will make meat and fish lovers quite happy too. All accompanied with excellent light and freshly made pita. The portions are quite sufficient for four people to share, and you can easily make a meal of a large selection of the mezza. The servers are knowledgeable about the food and helpful in terms of gauging variety/quantity. Bigger tables and a better corkage policy would lift my rating."

  • "Excellent food, excellent service. I wish there had been time / room in my belly to eat every single thing on the menu."

  • "We enjoyed really authentic Lebanese food. beautifully cooked and presented. The wait staff were particularly helpful"

  • "I highly recommend ilili to people who haven't yet tried Lebanese food. The food was great and for those in our party not familiar with Lebanese food, the staff were extremely helpful in helping them choose their dish. No one was disappointed. I highly recommend the a combination of small dishes from the Mezza section of the menu if there are 3 or more of you in your ding party. Don't miss out on the Lebanese wine. As for the environment, ilili's modern layout is high end with both a great bar area and restaurant."

  • "Some of the restaurant has a great ambiance, but it's inconsistent. My party of 4 was shoved into a corner room upstairs that looked like an employee break room in a strip mall. Not what I envisioned for my special occasion and out of town guests. There were tons of empty tables in the better part of the restaurant when we arrived, but they said those tables were "reserved," even though we had a reservation as well. Not impressed!"

  • "Ilili is one of my favorite spots. I have spent much time in Turkey and the food brings back so many good food memories. I bring friends and out-of-towners here ALL the time. Ilili is a must try. You will find yourself coming back for more! The labne and brussels sprouts are outstanding!"

  • "The brussel sprouts were out of this world. The food overall was really excellent but it was pretty noisy."
    Dined on 2/8/2014
  • "Had the brussel sprouts - such great unique flavor, cauliflower - perfectly cooked and eggplant "chips" - love these and want to know how they make them! Also had the chocolate souffle and drinks - souffle was great but a bit pricey at $18."

  • "Best Lebanese food I have had so far. Note: while Zagat's says noise can be a drawback, quieter dining rooms are upstairs,"

  • "We ordered a selection of three appetisers - all of which were delicious and fabulously presented. They were bigger than what we thought they were going to be so could have really ordered two. Staff bring out fresh pitta with your starters and mains, and the bread is so delicious. Main courses were moderately sized and again delicious. At $46 we thought the lamb was a little over-priced as you got 5 or 6 small sausage shaped meat koftas with a small ratatouille. That said, the flavours were superb. We had never been to a Lebanese restaurant before - our overall experience was very good so would definitely recommend."

  • "I've been here a few times now and really enjoy it. Great food and drink, superb service, and a good find for when you're craving Lebanese. It's definitely pricey though (for example, they serve an AMAZING salad, but it's a whopping $15 plus) so it may just be for business and/or special occasions. Also, the Lebanese style makes it a good spot for groups that want to share and taste a lot."

  • "have gone here several times in the past few months and every experience has been fabulous. I recommend this restaurant to friends and family all of the time and they have voiced the same opinion."

  • "I have been to different states all over the US and have never tasted anything better than the duck shawarma, Brussel sprouts or katayef with bacon offered by illili. It captures the sophistication of lebanese culture and offers a fantastic twist to authentic dishes. It is pricy but definitely worth it if you would like to impress a first date or work colleagues."

  • "Ilili was recommended by a friend who used to live in New York and it didn't disappoint. I was in the city celebrating my 40th birthday with friends and wanted a restaurant which had great food as well as a great atmosphere... Ilili had both by the bucketload! They accomodated a late change in the booking time, the service was excellent and the whole evening was topped off with a surprise dessert of baklava with a candle in it. I couldn't have wished for a better place in which to celebrate my birthday."

  • "Such a great experience dining at ilili. As an Egyptian American, it's always exciting to see Arabic food in NY, and on top of that, when the restaurant is successful, the food is presented beautifully and tastes incredible, it's very refreshing. The service we had was great, Alex was very attentive to our needs and made great suggestions. We were overall very happy with our dinner at ilili. I've already spread the word, and will be back again!"

  • "We have often brought out of town foodies here, as in the past it has been such a great experience. That said--this last visit was a disaster, starting with our wait in the bar area. There were not many seats and the waitress scolded my guest to "go sit down and wait" when he stood ignored at the bar, trying to get us drinks. Dinner was also not up to it's usual care or service. The food came out in a different order than we had discussed with the waiter. Hot brussels sprouts came out with our hummus and fatoush, rather than with the main items. But the absolute worst dish was the chicken livers--they were roasted to dry, hard, inedible rocks, swimming in pomegranate molasses. "

  • "We had planned to eat at another restaurant in the neighborhood but they were closed for a private event. We wanted to eat in this neighborhood and found ilili. The food was delicious, we 3 girls shared a number of appetizers and one was better than the next. The pita bread was even freshly baked. The wine was local, a little pricey, but very refreshing. We highly recommend the place and will definitely return there for another meal."

  • "Ilili offers some Lebanese standards but much of the menu is Lebanese reinvented and delicious. Service was fantastic. Noise level is HIGH."

  • "It was my wife's bday and loves middle eastern food. Went to this place on recommendation as one of the top middle eastern restaurants in the city. The place lived up to the hype. The service was super fast and excellent considering we were a group of 6. Food was very tasty and overall had a great experience. Can get a little loud though.. but not so much that u cant hear each other talk."

  • "First time eating Lebanese food. It was wonderful. And the service was attentive. Go for the Happy Hour too -- good way to start the evening."

  • "I always love coming here and have never been disappointed with the food. I brought family here who were visiting for the long weekend because I knew they would enjoy it. Overall it was a great experience. The waiter was friendly, recommended drinks and kindly accommodated my food allergy. The food was good as usual, but I think they changed up the moussaka. This dish was a cold eggplant dish and not the layered, warm dish I'm used to. The only issues was near the end when the waiter stopped checking in on us, didn't see if we wanted more food or drinks and we had to wait a while to get the bill."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "Wonderful atmosphere with a great selection of small plates. The schawma with duck and chicken are especially good. Humus that is smooth and entrenched with garlic. Must try the roasted brussel sprouts; best I've tasted! Wonderful and attentive wait-staff. Good find."
    Dined on 5/24/2014
  • "We have always had a great experience at Ilili, but this time was truly noteworthy. We forgot to ask for the rest of the divine Brussels sprouts to be wrapped up to go home, and our waitress overheard us mention it to each other, so she had a whole new order made up for us to take home, and included some more pita. This was so above and beyond anything we've seen in a long time, that it made the usually excellent experience completely unforgettable. Thank you!"

  • "Our last visit was disappointing as the wait service was poor. Ordered sereval items on the menu that the waitress said were "all out." I finally asked what other items were sold out so I did not waste our time deciding on them. Waistress seemed like she did not care and was too busy chatting with ther staff. A good waitress would have pointed out what was sold out when we firsdt reviewed the menu along with a house apology. Maybe she was new, maybe she was not trained, maybe she was having a bad day. Anyway, this visit was not as good as previous visits due only to the service side. "
