  • "Service was not the best. Waited to long for our food. Food is excellent as always. When we left they called me back that I didn't pay the full bill. Very embarrassing. It was there error n not mine. They were not very nice about it n did it very poorly. N never apologized We waited over 1 nor for our appetizers. N they screwed up one main course n never said anything so one of us had to wait for the correct dish to arrive while we were all eating. We have been there many times before n this nevr happened. Thank god the food is great if not I would never return. "

  • "Easter Sunday. One staff member ushering us upstairs telling us to continue on to our table (6 of us). Upstairs, we have another staff telling us to wait like a tug of war. We're in the way waiters hustling around us we're hovering around tables. We sat and waited for service. One of our party was a few minutes late but the staff should have served us better. We were the stealth table. People came after us-- ate and left long before us. Three hours. We had dessert but no coffees until several minutes AFTER we finished the desserts. It was almost like no one wanted to be there. Also confusion with the valet parking. The attendant could not explain the procedure at all. I'm not giving my keys to someone to park at a train station."

  • "The food was well prepared and cooked to perfection. The staff was efficient and pleasant . One could hold a conversation without ambient noise which difficult to find in many restaurants. I would return here when I am in the neighborhood."

  • "Il Toscano is one of my favorite places to eat but usually only go just for special occasions. Locals talk about other Italian restaurants in the surrounding area but this little (actually not so little) restaurant is far superior to them all."

  • "Come to il Toscana especially for fantastic lobster meal"
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Everything cooked to perfection. I had the calamari and the angus steak and would highly recommend both dishes. My husband had the lasagna and said it was the best he ever had. If you are looking for a date night this may be the perfect restaurant or even with a group. Expect there to be a wait even with reservations."

  • "there is too much noise AND the quality of the food was not up to a usual standard"
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "This was our first time there and we will be back. The lobster is out of this world!"

  • "We have bee there many times, and do not like the upstairs back room. If you are a party do 8 very hard to place in resturants."

  • "This is for sure a special occasion type place purely because of the pricing. Any real entree of any substance is not less than $29. There is a chicken dish or two at less than $25 but most of the things you would really want are in the $30's. Fabulous food, just be prepared for that."

  • "We came here to celebrate my father's birthday. The food was delicious and the portions were very filling. I will definitely come back to try other dishes. The only thing that was lacking was that the service was slow and it took a lot of effort at times to catch the attention of our waiter. The main courses also took a long time to come out. If you're looking for great food and are looking for a place to relax and have long conversations with your dinner companions, I would highly recommend this restaurant. If you're not so patient, be aware of the slow service!"

  • "The food was tasty and the desert was the best! Try the Napoleon! It's one of the best I've ever had. Of course the price was reflective of the many waiters that were all waiting on our table. You pay for the service not just in the tip. The place was cute but I expected it to look better, fancier. On the outside it looked almost like the entrance to a pub not a fancy Italian restaurant. They could use some remodeling...newer chairs/tables. Overall we had a nice nite."

  • "Il Toscano is like no other, from the minute you walk in your are embraced by the family run business. Steve the bartender is always there to greet you followed by the owners. The food is amazing, from the signature lobster dish to duck, fish specials and foie gras starter. You must save room for dessert.....the homemade cherry, chocolate ice cream puts the ice cream industry to shame AND the homemade napoleon is better than you can find anywhere. You truly can't go wrong with any choice you make at Il Toscano"

  • "Il Toscano has a delicious menu. They accomodated our 7-person group. However, the service was slow in the back section of the restaurant. It has nice outdoor dining for summer evenings. It is literally next to the Douglaston train station and parking is validated."

  • "Carefully prepared excellent cuisine; wonderful wine list with many great bottles well under $100."

  • "This was a special restaurant! Wow! From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant we were treated like VIPs . The first table we were seating at had a group of screeching woman next to us and the owner saw me cringe and immediatley took us into another section of th restaurant to seat us. From that moment everything was top notch! I highly recommend the lasagna which was the best I have ever had! The duck was excellent too! Even the house Pinot Grigio was perfect! We were not rushed and the waiters did not bother us at all. Il Toscano will see me again soon!"

  • "Excellent homemade pasta. Excellent service. Excellent drinks. The ambience I rated very good. I think it could be a touch darker. The second our candle went out the waiter re-lite it. That was fantastic."

  • "My husband and I started dating not far from this restaurant and used to go for years. We recently took a ride back and found that very little has changed - which is a GOOD thing. The best lasagna I have ever had - anywhere. Mozzarella was a bit too firm, but the baked clams were almost in a marsala sauce - dreaming about going back and ordering them again."

  • "THE RESTAURANT WAS EXTREMELY NOISY. WHEN I ASKED FOR A TABLE IN AN OTHER LOCATION I WAS TOLD NONE WERE AVAILABLE. WITHIN SECONDS OTHER GROUPS OF 4 WERE SHOWN OTHER TABLES. THE WAITER HAD AN ATTITUDE AS DID THE MANAGER/OWNER. IT TOOK OVER 1 HOUR FOR OUR MAIN DISHES TO ARRIVE AND WHEN THEY DID THEY WERE COLD. THE LOBSTER SPECIAL WHICH IS THEIR SIGNATURE DISH WAS LOADED WITH BREAD CRUMBS WHICH THE WAITER NEVER MENTIONED. IT WAS DEFINITELY NOT 2 - 1LB LOBSTERS WHICH WERE OUT OF THE SHELL - NOT REQUESTED. A PERSON IN OUR PARTY REQUESTED AL DENTE PASTA AND WAS TOLD THIS IS AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT SIR. THE PASTA WAS NOT AL DENTE AND THE ONLY ANSWER WE GOT WAS IT IS FRSH MADE PASTA. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT HAS TO DO WITH IT."

  • "Great northern Italian food. Excellent wine list. Service was lacking. Nothing worse than having to ask for more of everything you need(bread, water, a fork ,knife an appetizer). Tight quarters ( I was hoping the fire Marshall wouldn't show up). But the quality of the food more than made up for below average service and tight space"

  • "We can always count on the staff of Il Toscano to make our special occasions even more special. I simply cannot decide what is more impressive -- the high caliber of the food or the stellar service."

  • "Our reservations were honored on time and we were seated upstairs. Our service was good but not great. The food was delicious! Our food came out well prepared at the right temperature. The best thing was that we were never rushed to finish a course or to get the check. All in all, a nice experience that we look forward to doing again in the future."

  • "Nothing special. Most of the food was good but linguini vongole was too spicy and tasted like a pepper sauce. For Queens standard, food was good (sorry, not many good italian resturants in Queens). Menu was pricey which I didn't mind ..... except when they charge me for bottled water I didn't ask for. $30 bucks for water.... really?!?! That's ok, keep the stolen $ but will never return. Bad business."

  • "Always a solid choice for dining near the Gold Coast of Long Island. Only one downside to the evening, no more Branzino left by the time we were ready to order, which was a disappointment. Otherwise, the food was fresh and delicious. And, despite the crowds waiting to be seated, the owner, manager and bartender are always smiling, which makes you feel so welcome as soon as you walk in the front door."

  • "Ordered pork chop. Was very dry. They took it back and cut it up and put the sauce and veggies over it and re-served it. I was surprised. The sauce & veggies were good but I still didn't eat the pork and they never said a word to me. Wood not go back & I have been going here for years. Last time had the lobster special and it was very greasy."

  • "this was our first time at this restaurant. food was excellent, service was very good. our only complaint was that while we asked for a quiet table since some of our group was hearing impaired, we were seated next to the bar and the espresso machine in the very noisy main dining room as opposed to a quieter spot in another room."
