Diner Reviews
  • "My family and I have been dining at Il Tiramisu for years. Peter the owner is such a gracious host and has always provided excellent food and service here. Some of my favorites are the ossu bucco (veal and lamb shank), seafood pasta, and seafood risotto. The desserts here are so delicious as well, try the creme brulee, panna cotta, or the hazelnut gelato! Love this place and will always have fond memories with family and the food here!"

  • "We just moved to Sherman Oaks from West Los Angeles and are so glad friends recommended we have dinner here! This is our new "go to" place for a wonderful Italian meal! Delicious food, very nice wine list and the deserts are not to be missed! All at very reasonable prices."

  • "Delicious food! Welcoming and friendly owners! Soups are always the best! Every time we come here, it feels like stopping by an old friends place for their best meal. Fish, salad, pastas always delicious, but the soups always strike me as special and outstandingly flavorful."

  • "the ambiance and the staff were very nice. the appetizers were more than good, less than excellent and the main courses were very average and we were all disappointed."

  • "Il Tiramisu is a great neighborhood find in Sherman Oaks. The decor is lovely, the owners are always warm and welcoming, and the food is excellent. There are always great fish choices as well as homemade pasta. Even people who are avoiding heavy carbohydrate loads can find healthy, wonderful northern Italian style dishes here, but those who want classic lasagna won't be disappointed either. Don't miss the poached pear in red wine for dessert!"

  • "The mushroom appetizer sold me but the veal marsala was done to perfection- light and not too saucy, mushrooms - YUMMY! LOVED our waiter - great sense of humor and KNOWS the food! We will be back!! ox"

  • "This place is always wonderful, great ambience, food is delicious, excellent service. The restaurant was crowded but my husband and I were able to enjoy a nice conversation because it wasn't too loud. This is definitely one of my go-to restaurants where I know I'll have a great time, it's definitely a gem."

  • "Went in looking for a nice evening with my girlfriend, and found some great Italian food. Waiter suggested the lasagna, which is my test of an Italian restaurant and it rocked, hearty and meaty. Girlfriend had the pasta with the butternut squash and she loved it. Nice selection of wines at fair prices. There was a large party in the other room, but we were well taken care of. Seems like the waiters know a lot of the regulars."

  • "This is the place where you come to dine... the food in unique, the wine paired just right and specials are divine. The staff operates as a team so nothing is left undone- even their desserts tasted homemade. I can't recommend this place enough if you want to have a romantic getaway, a place to bring your co-workers, or friends that enjoy a nice ambiance and still able to chat."

  • "My boyfriend took me here to celebrate our anniversary- we had such personable service, the wine was presented and decanted, specials were described eloquently and the server paced our courses I felt like we were dining in Italy. The food was delicious and staff attentive- they really made our special evening perfect!"

  • "My girlfriend and I booked our reservation for 8:00 pm and immediately noticed when we checked in that the restaurant had overbooked their reservations. The hostess wasn't pleasant at all and ignored us initially. I finally checked in for our reservation and they wouldn't give us a time to be seated. A couple at the bar was leaving, so my girlfriend and I sat at the bar and waited. 8:30 pm came and went and we still hadn't been seated, so we at dinner at the bar. The food was average at best. It was Valentine's Day and we were ordering off a price-fixed menu, so I would cut them a little slack, but I probably would never go back. Would not recommend this restaurant!!!!!"

  • "We have been here several times, and always liked the food. Last night was awful. I had lasagna that was cold in the center, and had been in the microwave. My daughters ravioli was also cold, and the cream sauce was starting to jell. The waiters seemed frazzled, maybe there was a shortage of staff. Whatever the problem was last night, I do hope they get it under control quickly."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "I wasn't aware we were only allowed the overpriced Valentine's Day prix fixe menu, so that was an unpleasant surprise from the moment we were finally seated after waiting 30 minutes after checking in with the host for our reserved time. It was only after when the waiter came to take our orders after quite some time that we learned half the things on the menu were no longer available for the day. This included their osso bucco, which was the very reason we decided to try the restaurant. To top things off, my date's soup was incredibly bland and my salad was depressingly wilted. Our entrees of salmon and chicken were quite good, but not good enough to make up for the string of disappointments."

  • "Really like this place. It's laid back and chill, the waitstaff are SO professional and attentive without being overly so, and for a nice night out, it's perfect. My boyfriend and I celebrated Valentine's Day a day early to avoid the cluster, and it was the perfect idea to come here. They don't rush you out of the place and actually let you dine. I had a great Australian sea bass, which was delish. I also love their bread! All in all, great if you like low-key, good wine, and a reasonably priced place, strongly recommend."

  • "Some things you can't leave to chance....When we wanted to show our dear friends from Panama what real Italian food and service is all about, we thought of no other ristorante than Il Tiramisu! As usual our table was waiting, and Peter the proprietor was ready with a terrific wine selection, as well as perfect recommendations for salads and entrees. From beginning to end, it was a fabulous evening, and a stellar representation of what we have right here in Sherman Oaks.................Il Tiramisu!!! ( can't wait to go back)"

  • "We'd been meaning to visit this local restaurant for a while. We went on a Saturday at 7 and were seated after a few minutes. The hostess checked us in and then left us standing there without ushering us to a table or into the bar. It was a little strange. Our waiter was very kind and informative. We ordered the beet salad which consisted of a small square of chopped up beets in a vinaigrette, served on a huge plate and nothing else. Odd to say the least. Our entrees were ok but nothing special. The chocolate mousse was delicious. The bill was huge considering how average everything was."

  • "Arranged a birthday party and very accommodating (party of 11). Positive was great flavor and taste of food. Only negatives were one person in our party didn't get served main dish with others and rest of ours got a bit cold while we were waiting and had to remind waiter about one drink not served that was delivered about 5-10 minutes behind everyone else's beverage. Hence, 4 stars."

  • "Impressed the In-Laws. Took the wife and her parents for dinner and all enjoyed everything. We had a few different main dishes (white fish with a wine reduction sauce, a chicken dish with artichoke hearts, tomatoes and a champagne sauce, and the special pasta with the pink sauce which everyone loved the most!!) . The owners were kind and talked with us and made us all feel special They also made some wine recommendations, which was very helpful Thanks. We dug it and all the food too, especially the Panna Cotta dessert!! We will go again and recommend this place to others!"

  • "The food and tasty and the service was professional and attentive. Great to have a classy dinner place in the neighborhood. Pasta special with seafood was great. And big. Veal osso buco was super tender. Love the bread and garlic dipping sauce."

  • "Food was delicious and nicely presented. The server offered to do half orders of the special soup so we could both have some without doing a full order. This was a nice touch and we availed ourselves of the offer. Wines are accessibly well priced--most at or under $30. Thoughtful and interesting selections on the wine list. This was a nice place to have a girlfriend dinner."

  • "We Love Il Tiramisu Ristorante! For Holidays, Birthdays or a mid-week dinner - the food is always wonderful. The regular menu or specials are all terrific. Service is excellent. Easy to park. What's not to love?"
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "Unfortunately, Tiramisu is often inconsistent. I've had good meals there and sometimes they fall short. This visit was one of those times when they fell short. The whitefish in champagne sauces was virtually tasteless, the side of spinach was nothing more than steamed vegetables; the pasta with lamb ragout was pretty good."

  • "My wife and I decided to take our son and his lovely girlfriend out on Tuesday night because weren't able to spend Thanksgiving together this year. Naturally we all voted to go to Il Tiramisu! All I can say is.....it was the perfect choice! We started with our favorite " house salad " (the best dressing on earth) and we each had a different entre. Needless to say, everyone's plate was clean shortly thereafter. The pastas and ribeye steak were all done to perfection and the experience was enhanced by truly, European style service. We all enjoyed the bottle of fine Chianti and the modern Italian music playing in the background. It's the perfect spot for a special family occasion where you can talk, laugh and feel fantastic!"

  • "Lovely European vibe. Excellent service: there when you need them, but never intrusive. We ordered the specials and everything was delicious, especially the savory crepes. Dessert was amazing. The only negative in this experience was two loud individuals at the table next to us whose voices dominated the room."

  • "There are a lot of restaurant options on Ventura Blvd. But I don't think you will find any that caters to the customer the way they do at IlTiramisu. Run by a Father and Son team, everyone on the staff is watching out for your every need. Now for the bread story. So they have this great bread they bring out right away. My husband and son polished off the 1st basket in 2 seconds. "Would you like some more bread?" "Yes!" Another basket was brought out. Again, my skinny 15-year old put it away. But that is not the story. The story is about the 3rd basket. No one would DARE ask for a 3rd basket and the owner knew that. But he also knew the skinny kid would want more. Did he ask if we wanted a 3rd? No, he just brought it. Now, that is service."
