Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant was amazing with our family's need for gluten free food. The waiter and staff completely understood the severity of allergy requests. They have a separate area in the kitchen to prepare all gluten free food. The waiter was friendly and explained food option in detail."

  • "I was thrilled to discover that this restaurant had gluten-free offerings. The server was more than gracious about answering my questions and double-checking with the chef, and theI osso buco was fabulous!"

  • "This was a lovely place for dinner, where you could dine outside and enjoy delicious food in the warm desert air. I returned to this restaurant following a visit last November. The food was very good both times, and the service as well, but the ambience was less attractive than before. In the intervening four months, the hotel has turned the pool area into a family-friendly venue, complete with neon lights. These are visible through the trees, and the sound of children playing in the pool is clearly audible. The noise continued until around 8:30; the neon lights were on throughout the evening. Neither was attractive, and I wouldn't dine there again before 9pm."

  • "We visit Il Terrazzo every time we are in Phoenix/Scottsdale, even when we are not staying at the Phoenician. The service is always outstanding and the food is always great. Sit outside for the best atmosphere and a romantic setting. On this occasion we were celebrating our son's 18 the birthday and they did a very nice job making our evening special. Be sure to sample the pesto pestassio bread dip - very good!"

  • "This was a wonderful lunch with great weather for an outdoor table. The food and service were outstanding from appetizer to dessert. We look forward to return on our next visit to Scottsdale."

  • "I have been to Il Terrazzo many times and I am never disappointed. The food is consistent and the service is 1st Class. No pressure to rush and highly attentive staff makes all the difference. Love it and will be back many times. Thank you for the great experience!"

  • "We had lunch here in this beautiful setting facing the pool on a gorgeous day. I had salmon risotto which surprisingly had other vegetables in it and was delicious. My wife had a pasta dish with fish and complained the pasta was dry. The desserts we had were delicious as well as the soups. They have aggressive birds that prey on empty tables, interestingly after the meal a falconer came with his bird and the birds preying on tables left."

  • "I have been to the restaurant several times but was disappointed this time with the service and the food. However the Ambience is fabulous and very relaxing. I will try again in the future."

  • "Make sure to come hungry! The buffet is to die for, the prix fixe is amazing and the bottomless mimosas make for a perfect brunch for the ladies to get together and enjoy!"

  • "This place is an fantastic restaurant to visit for any special occasion. The food was superb, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere is very pleasing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking to have a special night out and a very enjoyable time!"

  • "This restaurant was very disappointing from the get go. There was a lack of energy and enthusiasm. While the room is very elegant, Very few tables were occupied. The expectation was to have authentic Italian food. There were some pasta dishes, but the menu displayed other items that were not Italian dishes - some unavailable. Food was very average. Much better places to go to in Arizona."

  • "I found the menu very interesting and the food was very flavorful. Unique side dishes. I loved the Gorgonzola grits! Outstanding. The calamari and scallops were also done just right!"

  • "This hotel is secluded from the road and a destination location. While I had a business breakfast there, many people were having breakfast having just exercised, played golf, so something to be aware of if you want a strictly business environment. Our server Tyler could not have been better or more accommodative!"

  • "My brother & sister-in-law travelled from frigid South Dakota to attend the WMPO with us... we wrapped up a great week with brunch @ The Phoenician....always a special, memorable meal with family. Everything...the brunch selections, the wine, the terrific service, our sunny, outdoor table...lent itself to an excellent dining experience! We'll be back!"

  • "Just one significant complaint: ordered Mussel and Clam Appetizer. Bowl placed in front of me with all clams unopened! Showed server and got this reply "Yes, they should be open." He took the bowl back to kitchen and returned with opened clams. Gave the benefit of doubt - cooked until opened and not cut open...still, a bit disturbing to encounter such a basic problem in a restaurant so highly rated."

  • "Planned a birthday dinner here for my boyfriend and he ended up surprising me with a proposal! The wait staff and manager were all helping to coordinate. It could not have turned out better!!! Thank you all! And the food and wine were amazing :)"

  • "The hotel is older and very stately. The food was typical Italian, but could have been a bit more adventuresome in its preparation and presentation."

  • "We were seated on the patio and waited fifteen minutes before bailing. No one came to offer us water, or anything. We were going to order wine and have a lovely dinner, but instead we got up and headed toward the hostess station. The woman who just directed us to our table was helping someone else, so she welcomed us and told us that she would be right with us. It appeared that she did not remember us. We walked out and went to have a wonderful dinner at J&G. Great food, great service there!"

  • "Very disapointed. Thought it should of been much better."

  • "Our server concentrated on a table of six (special guests) and ignored our table. It set the tone for our entire dining experience. We overheard the other guests complaining about her service which aggravated us even more. Busboy did a good job clearing our table. Refills on champagne was okay. Carving stations were okay. Sea food was excellent. Cold cuts, cheeses and salads were excellent. Desserts were okay. Whipped cream was warm and broken. Asked them to replace it, which they did, but the cream was semi-frozen. Small detail, but very unappetizing."

  • "2013 was the fourth year for us at the Christmas brunch. The food as always was excellent. This was the first year I would have to say the service was not up to Phoenician standards. First we waited too long for the server to take our drink order. Next the plates were not cleared up quickly. Our glasses were not filled timely. The restaurant was not as full as in prior years so I don't know why the wait staff was so slow. The staff in the food area were top notch. Will we be back next year ?"

  • "Beautiful display of food. Wide variety. The only disappointed was the turkey which was a turkey roll and not a whole fresh turkey. Everything else was great."

  • "We wanted an early dinner to be able to be on-time for a 7pm Christmas eve church service and this was the perfect offering. Osso Buco served on splendid risotto was very very tasty and satisfying. We'd do it again. Fish offerings suffered from need to be unique rather than providing recognizable normal fish; but, that seems to be the thing to do for many restaurants these days. Service attentive without being over the top. We were early and not many others seated; felt a bit alone in a big pretty place. Experience capped with free valet service for your auto at fancy, fancy Phoenician Resort."

  • "I've dined at Il Terazzo for dinner many times and always have excellent food. My friends and I decided to meet for a Christmas lunch at Il Terazzo . We were disappointed at the limited lunch menu and there was nothing special about the choices that are offered . Considering the pricing of dining at The Phoenician we felt there could be a much better menu for lunch."

  • "I took my wife to Il Terrazzo for her birthday dinner. It was our first time there. Both the food and the service were outstanding but the final bill was a bit higher than anticipated. We paid $20 for one Johnny Walker Black scotch and club soda. We have never previously paid over $15 for that drink. They brought her a complementary dessert which was very nice and gave each of us a some sparkling wine along with the complementary dessert. That was a very nice touch and helped offset the high cost of our drinks. We would consider going back for a special occasion."

  • "My friend and I are originally from the Midwest and are always looking for an elegant restaurant that has the Christmas spirit. Il Terrazzo has the loveliest Christmas trees we have seen. Some places don't even put one up. That's another sad discussion for a different venue... We came back this year again because we enjoyed our lunch so much last holiday season. Your food offerings are always fresh and delicious!"

  • "The Sunday non-holiday brunch is not as elaborate or expensive as it used to be. There was quite enough food and several choices to make. The service was superb and although there were not many dessert choices, the staff brought us a couple of things from the bakery that were not on the buffet. We were able to sit for a couple of hours and talk over brunch, which was great!"

  • "The special t-day menu was really good! best turkey I've had in a long time. Other menu choices excellent! service was friendly and special. Love that they call you by your name based on your reservation. nice touch!"

  • "The food and service were excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant. The server was very knowledgable about the menu. We had a delightful evening."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed the 3 course Sunday brunch. Santa Margharita prosecco was poured frequently and Starbucks was served. The smoked salmon with beets had great flavor. My wife's seared ahi was ultra fresh. I had the steak frites, and the meat was tasty, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The frites were seasoned with parsley, garlic, and grated cheese. My wife enjoyed her chicken panini. The final course is a tower of small desserts; standouts were the deconstructed tiramisu and the lemon mousse."
