Had another great meal. Service was excellant. They recomended a very reasonably priced bottle of wine which we all loved. Pasta dishes, Timbale and the Pizzoccheri with mushrooms, were great. Our friends liked the risotto and the seafood special. Intresting variations on Italian food. We go often before and after the theaters on West 42nd St.

I was making for a very special daytrip to NYC for my sweetheart's birthday and chose iL Punto based on some reviews. I couldn't be happier. From the moment we walked through the door, after attending a play on Broadway, the people at iL Punto did everything to make it a memorable occasion. We were greeted warmly, shown to the perfect table, and fussed over (but not so it was too much) the entire time we were there. From the warmth of the employees, to the ambiance, the absolutely wonderful meal, and the special treat they brought at the end, it could not have been more perfect. As my sweetheart said as we left, " That was the most perfect place, and the nicest time I have ever had in a restaurant". I totally concur, and we will be back.

A very nice Italian restaurant on the edge of the theater district. Our entries were well prepared and served promptly. The wine list is short but well chosen and reasonably priced. Ambience was comfortable and surprisingly quiet, given the location and time (6:30 on a weeknight). A good way to avoid the pre-theater rush.

When we arrived, we were actually greeted by name! The service here is top-notch and the food is quite good. The menu is extensive, so if you are going with a group, everyone should be able to find something. This is my go-to place when I need a nice lunch spot after a trade show.

We enjoyed a pre-theater lunch at Il Punto. We sat down at about 12:30, our appetizers came promptly, but our entrees did not arrive until nearly 1:30. When we asked the waitress where they were, they were promptly brought out - very hot as if they had been under a heating lamp. I think they were somehow forgotten because other diners seemed to be getting their food. It was odd. But other than that oddity, we enjoyed, and would probably go back.

My husband and I dined here before going to a Broadway show. The service was great, as the staff was very attentive and prompt. The menu offered a very nice variety of options, with some classic italian dishes as well as some unique options. I recommend the Gnocchi with Lamb Ragu - it was incredible! And don't miss the desserts - both the Creme Brulee and the Chocolate Souffle were delicious!

Friendly Italian place with excellent service and fine food. A little noisy, but it was a Friday night in mid-town Manhattan. The lamb chops were excellent, the pasta is homemade and very tasty, and the wine list is very good. Moderately priced too. Two bottles of wine, dinner for five, and tip came to under $100 each.

We asked our hotel front desk gentleman for a recommendation for a "locals favorite" restaurant. He directed us to Il Punto on 9th. We made online reservations and we showed up a little early. We were seated right away anyway and were immediately impressed with the attentive staff and romantic setting. We ordered appetizers and entrees from the menu and were started off with a free cup of cold tomato soup that was wonderful. Our appetizer, Crab stuffed mushrooms, was too die for. My wife had the wild red snapper filet and I had the 30 day aged prime sirloin. Both dishes were sinful and extraordinary. We had never tried cannolli before and were overwhelmed with the exquisite taste and presentation. To say we were extremely satisfied with our meal and experience is an understatement. We were awed by Il Punto and will visit whenever we go back to NYC.

My girlfriend and I visited Il Punto and I will say that the food was very good. The pasta tasted very good. The Buffalo Mozzarella was extremely fresh and, even though it wasn't for me, my girlfriend said that the chilled tomato soup was tasty. Our only gripe was the service. It took a long for the main course to come out. From the time the appetizer was taken away to the time that our main course came out was over 20 minutes. The food was excellent when it finally came though.

Dined as a pre-show option and would say they try to be a 5 star restaurant but just didn't achieve perfection. As most NYC bistro restaurants they pack too many tables on Saturday night, & when they saw we were cramped they moved us to a better table without us asking (5 star service). As they got busy they seemed like they were short a waiter or 2, and just a bit too much lag between courses. The appetizers/Primi course were 4.5 star, Secondi course just average (almost like they tried too hard to be "fancy"). Great off Broadway location, probably best during warm weather when doors open. Very good food, just a little pricey and more of a bistro than 5 star restaurant. A step above most typical restaurant row establishments though

Went here after a matinee on a Saturday. We arrived early and were seated right away. The food is very good. The wines were excellent and well priced. Service was also very good. Once the restaurant started filling up quickly, around 5:00, it started getting very loud, and naturally, service was not as attentive as it had been when we were one of the only tables there. I would recommend it for a solid Northern Italian meal in the theater district.

Off the main tourist haunts, iL Punto provides an authentic classic Italian menu primarily to locals. The off-menu specials are a highlight, offering the most creative and seasonal fare. Try the unique and delicious onion gelato salad if it is available. A serious service lapse between primi and secondi was noted by the owner before we complained. He personally brought the food to the table with sincere apology, and later comped dessert and coffee, so such lapses must not be routine. The noise level was bothersome at times, but typical for New York where table-tops per square foot are usually tight. (If you find a quiet NYC restaurant that hasn't recently failed a health inspection let me know.)

From the minute we walked in the door we knew it was going to be awesome. The service was impeccable, the presentation was top shelf and the food was to exceptional. Even the little things like free pouring a wine by the glass was appreciated as there is nothing more aggravating than having your wine poured twice...once into the 'measuring cup' and then into your glass.

A wonderful Italian Restaurant close to the theater district. Everything we ate was seasoned so delicately. My friend is a foodie and found the restaurant Il Punto on Bonnie Leblang’s site. We made the right choice because the dining experience was so delicious. I ate from the tasting menu, some standouts were the fettucini Verdi with seafood, beet salad, and seafood for main course. The desert was Tiramisu. I would definitely dine here again.

A table of four had an early evening dinner on a Saturday evening. We all ordered different entrees to have a variety to share. A couple of the entrees were quite good, a couple were mediocre at best, seasoning was an issue with the meat. The service was okay, it wasn't great and required a lot of asking for things that should have seemingly been taken care of - refilling the water glass, coffee cup etc. The dessert was the highlight of the meal. If you have the time and want a reasonably priced meal in the city, it's a decent find.

Well... it was highly rated... so we gave it a try. It was near another event we were at. I really have to either question the taste buds of the other diners or there's something up with the reviews. The food was really not good. I think it has a lot to do with the ingredients. Canned products are very likely. My chicken clearly had not been salted at all. The texture was somewhat off as well. My guess is that it was microwaved to melt the cheese at some point (although I'm not sure). The pasta was fine, but really forgettable. The Caprese salad was pretty bad. And let's face it... it's all about the ingredients in that dish. Dry cheese and bad quality tomatoes do not make for a good outcome. Good note - service was friendly.

Our first visit to Il Punto, but definitely not our last. Earlier this month, we were in Italy. Our meal at Il Punto last weekend, was just as good - if not better - than our special dining experience in Rome. Plus, we were able to easily walk to our concert at Town Hall after dinner. When there was a slight delay, our excellent servers immediately and freely topped off our wine glasses. This restaurant is a delightful, truly delicious find!

Had a great evening at iL Punto. The food was delicious and the service was great (attentive but not obtrusive). The stuffed artichokes appetizer was delicious and perfect for splitting between 2 people, and our entrees (I got the sea bass and my boyfriend got the sirloin) were each cooked perfectly. He was able to substitute his side at no extra charge. When the servers overheard that it was my boyfriend's birthday, they brought him out a complimentary dessert, which was also delicious. The and the ambiance was ideal for a romantic evening; the restaurant is intimate and classy but not pretentious at all. I would definitely go back!

The entire experience was outstanding. The service was excellent, they were attentive but not intrusive and allowed us to enjoy our meal and conversation with our friends. We did not feel rushed through dinner as often the case when you dine prior to the theater and another seating will be squeezed in. The wine from Montepulciano was excellent and a very good value. ($45). We chose to dine from the pre-theater menu. For $40, we received an appetizer; (my appetizer was 2 large crab cakes) an entree (my entree was chicken, asparagus and cheese along with a side of mashed potatoes), and dessert. We also received complimentary cold tomato soup along with biscotti with our coffee. I would not hesitate to dine there again.

Nice and elegant setting with good service While pasta was cooked well. The food was generally bland. The seafood risotto tasted just like boile rice. The special fish dish did not taste fresh, instead it had that aftertaste of fish that had remained frozen far too long. It also was overcooked, and therefore a bit dry. The dessert was good, but had the stardard taste of mass produced desserts (ie, lots of calories for no special taste reason). And while the food was mediocre, at best, the prices were high. I am not going back, unless I have to. This is unfortunate, because it is so close to the 42nd Street theater row.

An attentive service sat us down in the second room of three, bit strange as it seemd more a passage way than a real dining area. The risotto with crab was made with really fresh ingredients and the crab as actually present, no cheap escape. With the risotto creamy and the vegetables fresh and crisp a little zest or tinge was missing, a pity as the dish combined the right flavors. The deserts were a mix of pans cotta in vanillas and chocolate style. Perfectly executed
