I went with my boyfriend for our first dinner during our week in NY. We got a cozy table for two and we got fast and excellent service. They sent out a free "starter": a cold tomato soup, which was good. The wine was presented to us on a wine table, also it suited our food beautifully. We ordered chicken with basil sauce, which was terrific. I got the tiramisu for dessert - the mascarpone was excellent, but the bottom was a bit too drenched in coffee for my taste. We got some chocolates and biscotti for free after, they were very good. I fell completely in love with this restaurant. Will definitely go there again and recommend it to others. It looks a bit anonymous from the outside, but you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Had a pre-theatre dinner here. Food was solid. My lobster and pasta dish was ok, a little simple and the lobster was a little over-cooked. My wife's lobster ravioli was much better. Dessert was great - I ordered the Soufflé though a lava cake would be a more accurate description. It was super rich and chocolaty which I loved. The service was excellent, staff were very attentive and would constantly check that everything was ok.

We arrived early for our reservation but, we were enthusiastically seated. Our table was towards the front of the restaurant but, we did not feel cramped or battered by other diners or servers. The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable with helping us choose our selections. The food was delicious and we were all pleased with our meals. My co-diners are usually very critical of everything, so I was nervous about choosing the restaurant. It was convenient for all of us, some returned to Penn Station and I quickly exited the city on the West Side Hwy. So, all in all, for location near the Javits Center, service and food, I would venture back to il Punto, any time I am in the area.

We ate here Saturday night before the theater. Food was excellent and service was among the best we've ever experienced. The entire staff was super attentive without being intrusive. Nice touch was complimentary gazpacho served prior to appetizers and small plate of cookies and nuts served with the dessert and coffee. Prices were very reasonable. Martinis were mixed to perfection. Will definately return.

It is a nice place with good Italian food and friendly staff. The place was empty at lunch time and the staff was busy talking to each other. It was hard to get their attention. It was a weekday work lunch and it was quiet in fact too quiet. Good food and good people who just need some customers and focus. The place is nice looking and the hostess is very sweet. Upon entering I was greeted and sat promptly. The drinks and menu were delivered promptly and the bread as well. The menus came 3 minutes later and about 10 min later we placed our order. The bread & Cesar salad were authentic. We asked for fresh pepper to be ground and the server was very courteous. The food was good and the portions were fair. I will go back and try again.

We have been to Il Punto many times and our visit this week was another great experience. The service was exceptional, our waiter was knowledgeable, made a few good recommendations for appetizers and was able to give us a little information on the wine that we ordered. The chef sent out a tasting of a cold tomato basil soup that was quite good. The homemade gnocchis and brunzino (our main courses) were delicious. Dessert left a little to be desired as the tiramisu lacked flavor, we were also given a sample of several cookies and biscotti compliments of the house. We look forward to our next visit.

This is a GEM, off the beaten “Broadway” path. Worth the extra few blocks walk. The meals are not just menu items, rather these are “creations” by a chef who obviously deservers a lot of credit. The prices are much lower than what you would pay in a more acclaimed restaurant, yet you receive items that are carefully crafted and taste great. Service is “tops”. I highly recommend this wonderful “find”.

We went to the restaurant with great expectations but left unfulfilled. The food served did not match the menu description including having hazelnuts and clams in their seafood salad, neither of which was listed in the description, leaving of diners being subjected to food allergies, or other adverse reactions. The atmosphere was very nice with complimentary soup started and a variety of cookies at the end. Not sure sure if we'll return.

We've been several times. I can take my 80-year-old parents and know what to recommend, my wife and I can go for the wacky playfulness of the tasting menu, and my 10-year-old daughter demands their tagliolini with seafood as a treat when she gets REALLY good grades. Il Punto is one of those rare places where you can please foodies AND family, every time. They are used to serving theater-goers, so the service and timing of dishes can be any way you like them, from brisk to laid-back, just let them know.

Amazing. There were 3 of us we shared and order of Fried Calamari w/3 sauces, tender and fresh. The pink sauce was our favorite. I had Gnocci with lamb ragout...outstanding, one daughter has the ink squid pasta with shrimp and scallops, Christmas Eve in the italian house all over, and my second daughter had a pasta with eggplant and ricotta salad cheese, delicious. For dessert we had strawberry sherbet, the best I ever had, a lemon sherbet and chocolate gelato, yummy! Before our meal was served they gave us a cold tomato soup so surprisingly good. After our desserts they gave us biscotti and truffles it was a very nice surprise. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. I would love to go back again.

The atmosphere is charming, warm, cosy, and elegant. The food is excellent. The service is superb. All three are very Italian. I had a beautiful stuffed calamari dish as an appetizer that was superb. My main course was Branzino that was cooked to fluffy perfection on a bed of tiny cubed vegetables with real flavor. The chef is creative and turning out dishes that are very special. The location is odd but also could be convenient if you need to be near Penn station. A surprising find in the area.

We had the tasting menu. The food was repetitious--too much fish coated in olives. We just kept waiting for a good meat course. The presentation was somewhat boring and formula. For example, repeated use of the slate plate. There was a liver ragout, which had a marvellous depth of flavour, but was diminished by the bitterness of the liver. While service was gracious, something just felt missing from the meal--it did not "wow" with perfection.
