A word from Il Piccolo Bufalo
Il Piccolo Bufalo is a Trattoria with a modern spacious exposed-brick walled indoor dining room and inviting outdoor café with a comfortable relaxed atmosphere. It features a diverse menu of traditional neapolitan cuisine and pizzas prepared in an open brick oven. The dishes are both modern and authentic, featuring most of the delectable favorites such as stuffed artichoke, spaghetti & meatballs, sunday gravy...... and other recipes the grandparents of the owner brought with them from Naples when they settled on Mulberry Street after emigrating from Naples in the early 20th century.

Il Piccolo Bufalo reviews from OpenTable diners
  • Not a destination but OK food

We were 4 adults and 2 kids looking for a place where everybody could eat. Il Piccolo looked like a good bet so we booked via openTable. We arrived on time to find the restaurant did not seem to be aware of our booking. We were eventually seated but not given menus because another 6-top was leaving and the owner (?) had a couple of folks asking for tables; he asked us to move to the 6 top. The net, 30 minutes after the booked time and our arrival we actually received menus. The food was OK; good sized portions and it did cater to all tastes. Pizza seemed to be the star on the menu, ours was OK. Net, an OK place to stop in but not a destination.

I enjoyed our after theater dinner but was disappointed that some of the entrees were not available. The restaurant had run out of some of the seafood dishes.

  • My family and I had reservations
    OpenTable Diner Since 2009

My family and I had reservations here Christmas Eve, which happens to be my mother's birthday. I had never been there before and picked it solely based on the positive Internet reviews. Unfortunately, I have nothing to say about my dining experience, because we ended up going elsewhere. We arrived a bit before our reservation, just because our travel time ended up being less than we expected. When we approached the door guy to ask if we could check in early, he gave us no greeting whatsoever and very rudely told us to come back at our reservation time. Fortunately, we had been offered a table earlier by a lovely, friendly man at a restaurant down the road, called Da Gennaro, which ended up being amazing food, atmosphere and service!

  • Lovely spot to meet friends in NYC

This restaurant is one of the smaller ones in Little Italy, but I've dined here with friends and family on several occasions. The service is always very friendly and attentive. We love their personal pizza baked in a brick oven. The food always tastes great, with the freshest of ingredients. It's a great place to meet friends for a most enjoyable meal (without breaking your pocketbook).

  • Not for late late dining maybe

We got there late with an 11pm reservation. There was only one other group when we got there. i definitely got the impression that this was not a 'late dining' place. Nevertheless, the staff was courteous and the food was good. You might want one of the bigger places on Mulberry Street for really late dining.

  • This restaurant was perfect

This restaurant was perfect for our large party. They were very accommodating (9 boisterous people at one table is no small feat), and they paid close attention to our table which was wonderful. The food was good, and it ended up being a very enjoyable dinner. The wine list was decent, and the price range was perfect for a large group of young professionals. We even saw a famous person sitting two tables down from us!

  • Il Picolo Buffalo was a wonderful

Il Picolo Buffalo was a wonderful dining experience, and the gentleman that operated the restaurant treated both me and my fiance very well. The pizza was a thing to marvel at and the bolognese was the best I have ever had. The tortellini in brodo reminided me of my grandmother's who came over from Italy when she was a girl. I highly, highly recommend that you go, and sample the best Little Italy has to offer!
