The restaurant was attractive. They were able to seat us early (before our reservation). The food and service were outstanding. The only complaint I had was that since we were seated in the back of the restaurant away from the door, it was a bit warm.

Visiting Santa Fe for the first time, we were looking for something special but quiet - a place that did not have a lot of "hype". We were thrilled to find this. Food was delicious and service delightful. And ...so grateful to find a place where the noise level was civilized.

    Dined on 9/14/2014
While the food was good, we were continually swatting flies away from our face and food. When we asked the server about this, she said that it was seasonal. That was an incredulous response as we had dined at 3-4 restaurants in Sante Fe over the weekend and did not experience the same nuisance, including eating outside at Tavena La Boca and Cafe Greco and Cafe des Artistes.

We decided to celebrate my wife's birthday at Il Piatto. The ambiance was very nice, the noise level pleasant, and the service very good. I had the Heirloom Tomato appetizer with fresh basil and a vinaigrette. They were advertised as having been grown by a local farmer, but had little flavor. The lack of flavor was only exacerbated by the fact that they were sliced paper thin and were topped with only a minuscule amount of fresh basil. With 4 small, quite thin slices of tomato comprising the dish, I thought $12.79 entirely too high a price for the dish. My duck entree was good, the marsala wine reduction was very good. The polenta was creamy, but not too flavorful. The Mussels in Saffron Cream sauce and the Trout were good.

We appreciated the food and especially the service in our recent visit to Il Piatto in Santa Fe. Our visit resulted from the recommendation of a waitress at San Francisco Bar and Grill that afternoon. We understood Il Piatto would provide a fine dining experience and so it did. Our waitress, Virginia, was extraordinarily friendly, helpful and efficient.

Of all Santa Fe restaurants, Il Piatto's our favorite for combining comfortable atmosphere with well-prepared food. And--where else can you get as good a zabaglione with balsamic reduction? (The Shed? Osteria del Assisi? Doubtful.)

The wines by the glass are short pours--maybe 5 oz. and they are priced like 6-8 oz. pours. And even if they were bigger they are way over priced. Food is good, and a few items great. Overall too expensive. But it is nice they have appetizer sized entres.

What a lovely place. So many spots to eat in Santa Fe but this was very nice. Lovely room with old world charm but nicely updated. Loved the wooden bar. Food was yummy but my husband thought the Pork Chop had way too much garlic. My Squash blossom was a nice treat. Ravioli was done perfect. A lot of food for the money. Would say good place to go..

I have been going here for years and it was really just marginal this time. I won't go back. The polenta with mushroom ragu had a lump of dry polenta and a couple dried up mushrooms. I could make that much better at home. The calamari salad had a one tentacled calamari that was cold and rubbery. Most of the food was not hot enough. The manicotti was fine and the fish was fine but the risotto cake was also a dried lump. All of these things should have much more attention to detail. It's easy to make a good risotto cake and some nice smooth soft polenta in a restaurant. As I said, I've gone here multiple times in the past 20 years and now it's just sad.

This was a special night so we read reviews to help us choose what restaurant to go to in a town of many fine eateries. From what I read I was expecting a special meal form a top rated chef and restaurant. ‘Ordinary’ is the only word I could think of when it came to what was presented. It was as if the kitchen staff was bored. The waiter, and Maître d on the other hand, were professional, helpful, and they made us feel ‘special,’ while not being obtrusive. We have been to better restaurants in Santa Fe for the food.

We had reservations, yet in terms of seating us they didn't really go out of their way to provide any options, just seating us at a small 2 person table. Yet not 15 - 20 minutes later, they sat a couple at a large table for 4 when there were other empty 2 person tables. Waitress was efficient but not customer friendly at all. Food took a while to be served after ordering and it was served not by the waitress but apparently by the chef. Not a lot of value for the money we paid. Wine prices are way out of line for actual cost of the wines. The mark-up here was considerable.

This was the first time I ate at this restaurant. I had the pumpkin ravioli which was the best I have ever had. Portion size was perfect. The bread was homemade, warm, and flavorful. I had the bread pudding for dessert which was atypical from any other bread pudding I've ever tasted. Creamy, like a crème Brule and I wished I could have licked the plate afterwards but civility prevailed. This restaurant is an absolutely must choice for a gourmet dinner in Santa fe.

Had another great meal. Compact but very nice wine list. What we really enjoy is the large list of daily specials which are the produce and other things available locally that day. Only small issue was food delivery a bit fast but many restaurants in Santa Fe get the pre-opera crowd who always want to be served quickly.

We informed our server we were on a tight time frame. We had to continually seek the attention of other servers to get our order. The delay in service during the closing minutes of their "happy hour" caused an expiration of the half off wine at 6 PM...we were seated at 5:40. We objected and the server reluctantly extended the offer. The meal was good...but not what one would call gourmet fare. We were served in time to make our time frame. On the nice side..they did give us a free piece of cake for our 50th anniversary.

On top of their fantastic food and attentive service, you get the absolute best "deal" on prix fixe in this town! For lunch, it's a three-course for $17, and you can choose two appetizers and an entree if you are not a dessert person...or two desserts if you are. Right in town. Reasonable and wide-ranging wine list. Personal favorites are the grilled calamari, the chicken liver "agre dolce," and the trout filet.
