  • "We decided to go to Il Piatto to celebrate a job offer. We were craving good Italian. My choices, along with recommended wine, were excellent. My wife's gnocchi was sub-par, which was quite disappointing. We will try the place again, but have been told our experience was not surprising."

  • "The food is fresh and everything on the plate smacks of homemade. The wines were excellent and the overall experience left us smiling and satisfied."

  • "Thank you, Il Piatto, for supporting St. John's College - "Music on the Hill" by giving a percentage of your receipts to them on 8 April 2014. We had a nice meal for our 32nd Wedding Anniversary."

  • "This was our first time here, and we look forward to going back. It's a lovely space on a quiet street off the plaza. The wine list was very nice, with a variety of wines and prices.; beer selection was quite limited, however. The food was delicious. We started with the sweetbreads appetizer and the tongue. Both were well prepared and well balanced. For a pasta, we had the squid ink with calamari. The pasta was fresh and perfectly cooked. The sauce, however, was a bit spicy for the delicate flavors of the spaghetti and calamari; it was still tasty. Our entree was the trout wrapped in prosciutto on polenta. I could have eaten five more! It was absolutely perfect. We passed on dessert this time but will be back again."

  • "sorry, Il Piatto. Italian food is not your strength. My husband had chicken and said it was OK....pasta dish was weak and very spicy. not what I ordered. if anyone wants Italian food....make it yourself or wait until you go to a big city where they know how to cook Italian. waiter needs to learn how to treat the guests..."

  • "Went for an anniversary and had a lovely dinner. Service was friendly and attentive but not irritatingly so. We ate almost exclusively off of the special "Spring" menu. The radish salad, pork chops and grilled duck breast were well prepared and everything on the plates was delicious. Very nice wine list, and the server made an excellent recommendation. Cost was reasonable for a special occasion dinner: under $200 for two people, salad/soup, entrees, nice bottle of wine ($60ish) and two dessert wines as dessert. We sat on the bar side of the restaurant, and it was a little noisy but did not really detract from our experience."

  • "Il Piatto has the feel of a local spot in which one can relax end enjoy a delicious meal. What sets it apart from most other Italian restaurants is the imaginative approach to fixing farmhouse food. The menu reflects real commitment to interesting food pairings, an excellent selection of wines and reasonable portion choices. The grilled calamari was perfectly paired with sliced fennel and a pungent aioli sauce. The duck pappardelle was rich with every savory bite. There is something for every taste on this well-executed menu. The service and cozy atmosphere add to a special evening out."

  • "We had the mushroom soup- it was absolutely terrific with unusual textures and tastes. The calves tongue over mashed potatoes was delightful. It will be fun to come again and try one of the other unique menu items."

  • "Menu appeared good upon first look, however actual food was very bland. No cracked pepper or fresh parmesan offered when meal arrived, as is traditional with most half decent Italian restaurants. I fail to see why this spot receives the ratings it does! Duck with paparadelle had non descript " brown sauce" and duck was flavorless, almost canned tasting. I ate better food from the street vendor in the Plaza in Santa Fe. I've eaten all over the world and would not recommend this spot to anyone I like or that has even a minimal knowledge of good food!"

  • "We've dined at Il Piatto many times and always enjoyed it, This time it was late on Saturday evening, after 9:30. We'd rushed up from Albuquerque for a 7:30 event at the NM History Museum and hadn't had dinner. On reading the menu we couldn't decide between the sweetbreads or pumpkin ravioli or duck all of which we've found memorable from previous dining experiences there. Then we noticed a line on the bottom of the menu which read 1/2 price appetizers & Late night specials, 3 course prix fixe dinners $24.97. We were told it was a smaller portion and decided that would be perfect. We made the right decision! The charming hostess informed us that they do this lovely special from 4-6 and after 9 every day! We'll certainly return!"

  • "Been coming here for several years when in Santa Fe. Nice for a business lunch or romantic dinner. Wait staff is always first class and accommodating. Food is creative and daily specials make great accompaniment to regular menu. Highly recommend."

  • "We went for late lunch, 3:00. 3course prix fixe for about $16. I had the pears and ricotta salad, superb. The house-made ricotta was so fresh and delightful. Chicken livers were super delicious. Dessert zabaglione to die for. I will go back every time I'm in Santa Fe. Only downside, only beer and wine, no bar."

  • "This used to be my favorite place in Santa Fe. I took numerous friends and out of town visitors and was never disappointed.... until recently. They had a wonderful dinner special of a prix fixe dinner that was a fantastic deal. Excellent food at a great price. Obviously, it was too good to last. Now, the food is still good but I think the food is overpriced. However, they still have an excellent special if you eat after 9PM. So I would rate this place 5 stars after 9PM and 2 starts if you eat before 9PM."

  • "We went there for a special dinner during a visit to Santa Fe and had an amazing experience. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful. My shrimp was perfect cooked, but could have been warmer. Tiramisu was homemade and spectacular. We will be back!"

  • "They had a unique combination of pastas. The happy hour is a great deal. Half price wine and appetizers."

  • "We had wonderful service in every other restaurant in Santa Fe except this one. It was terrible."
    Dined on 3/4/2014
  • "The food was so-so. It is not adequate to the price. A shop owner in Santa Fe who seemed foodie recommended this place. My husband and I visited for dinner. We ordered 1 half bottle white wine and 2 glasses of red wine, and 4 dishes - arugula and strawberry salad, calf tongue and pickles, squid ink pasta with seafood, and duck sauteed with orange. Wine was not bad. The salad and "pasta's paste" were good. Tongue was boring, nothing impressive. Pasta itself was terrible - very soft, lose firmness. I prefer usual linguine than the black thin soft "noodle". Duck was sadly nothing special. We found several other great restaurants with reasonable prices around the area... (otherwise they are not Italian)"

  • "Excellent caesar salad -- they do a really good version here. My friend had an unusual salad of home made ricotta with honey, glazed pears and wild greens. I love the cannelloni at Il Piatto and I was not disappointed this time either. We shared two desserts which were very good -- a tiramisu and a bread pudding. It was a rich lunch but oh so satisfying. The service was okay, but because the restaurant was quite busy during Restaurant Week, I think our server might have been slightly overwhelmed."

  • "My wife & I have eaten here for many years, and our most recent visit demonstrated that Il Piatto has maintained its high standards for tasty Italian cuisine. Our visit coincided with Restaurant week so we took advantage of the $20 Prix Fixe menu and thoroughly enjoyed our meals."

  • "We got to enjoy Il Piatto during restuarant week. There were several options. We throughly enjoyed the food and the service was great. I hope to go again."

  • "Enjoyed Il Piatto twice this week, both times ordered the same dessert, both time they were out"

  • "This was our second visit to Il Piatto. We actually had gone a few weeks ago for my birthday and had a wonderful experience then as well. When we saw they were participating in restaurant week, we decided to go again! The food is excellent - yes, it is rich, but that's what I associate with a good, satisfying Italian meal! Note that this isn't a "pasta topped with sauce" kind of place, though. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, work well as a team, and are very knowledgeable about the food and wine. The restaurant isn't very small (but also not large), but the ambiance makes it feel intimate. Definitely recommend!"

  • "We went to this restaurant on a mini family vacation to Santa Fe. I had a yummy almond ravioli, but the rest of my family wasn't as enthusiastic about their food, part of which is that it was my husband and our two growing boys and the portion sizes were sized more for ladies. The service was pretty slow -- not "relax and enjoy the time together' slow, but 'wait 15 minutes for your check after you're done and not even water refills' slow. So it wasn't a bad experience but we probably won't go there again, at least next time we're in Santa FE... maybe every 5-10 visits."

  • "The menu offered exciting and unusual choices. The portions were reasonable, enough to enjoy the flavors without going to bed with a heavy stomach. The duck parpadelle was absolutely delicious. The service was fast, attentive, and welcoming. Il Piatto is an excellent choice if you seek more interesting choices than the unavoidable chicken or salmon dishes."

  • "Appropriately Il Piatto was rocking on last day of restaurant week but the kitchen and wait staff responded with the best food (and ingredients and taste etc) and service at the best price ($20 was absolutely crazy). Truthfully they do this consistently always and whenever we are in Santa Fe always come here and have never been disappointed."

  • "Went here for restaurant week in Santa Fe. The restaurant was vibrant with a great staff, good food, as well as attentive service. It is apparent this management understands the importance of service that is so lacking in this area. Overall my wife and I enjoyed our experience and will bring visitors here as one of our favorites."

  • "This is a wonderful restaurant with a farm to table approach. Entering the restaurant, diners begin to experience the savory smells and the cozy atmosphere. My most recent experience was during Restaurant Week. Our dinner was so well prepared and the price for the courses was fantastic! Have visited restaurant for both lunch and dinner. Each time our meal was memorable and enticed us to return. If I lived in Santa Fe, I would be a regular guest."

  • "Okay, so we were in New Mexico, but our taste buds were in Italy. We had the appetizers of 1/2 orders of pasta, and the gnocchi in a mushroom cream sauce were spectacular! One person had the spicy meatballs with penne pasta, and it too was superb. Entree trout in proscuitto was some of the tastiest fish we can recall anywhere, and the chicken liver entree hit every note. A lovely crisp white wine kept our palates dancing with each course. Then we indulged in the warm, very custardy bread pudding and went off into the night humming with pleasure. The attentive wait staff just smiled at us and waved us off -- they definitely knew we were all very happy with the experience!"

  • "It had been several years since we had eaten at the restaurant. In the interim, it had expanded into the space next door increasing its size by about 60-70%. A remodel improved the ambiance and allowed for a little more space between tables; much appreciated! Being during Restaurant Week, the menu was prix fixe. The two appetizers, two entrees and two (of three offered) deserts were quite good and both of us were pleased. Our compliments to the owners and staff for a noticeable improvement over an already good place to eat."

  • "the place was packed because a special was going on. we were a group of 4 but the appetizer and dessert were brought out in waves with at least 5 minutes waiting until everybody was served. it was very loud in there. pasta/appetizer were good but main course (prosciutto wrapped trout was disappointing, over seasoned, the rosemary completely overwhelmed the trout. small desserts, ungenerous wine servings. overall, disappointed."

  • "Out of all the restaurants to select from here in Santa Fe, I chose Il Piatto. I took an out of state friend with me for dinner and It was everything I would expect from their kitchen. My friend rejoiced in telling people that it was the best meal he had ever had."

  • "We went for restaurant week so the menu was set and something we were already looking forward to. Presentation and taste were lovely. Plus they had a great kids menu!"

  • "Some restaurants have a very limited menu during RW, but Il Piatto's selections for appetizers, pastas/entrees, and desserts was diverse and large enough to make it hard to choose, since all the dishes sounded wonderful. We also like to support restaurants that use locally sourced ingredients. The four of us had a lovely, delicious evening and look forward to returning."

  • "My husband and I visited Il Piato for a Valentine's Day lunch. We don't often have free time for lunch together and this was the perfect date. Our server was wonderful - she was attentive, but not overbearing, she made great suggestions for us (we are both gluten-free) and she was just great. They had a different menu because it was Valentine's day, but the food was delicious and the atmosphere was great!"

  • "Il Piatto is the best deal in Santa Fe. Always delicious farm fresh food, friendly staff, and a good wine selection. A local favorite, so it was packed full the first night of restaurant week. We know where the best can be found. Never disappoints!"
