Il PiattoNot typical southwest fareWhen you are not in the mood for the typical southwestern dinner fare, Il Piatto is a great choice! The food was amazing and after a week on vacation in Santa Fe we were really in the mood for food that was not drenched in cheese and green chiles. They have wonderful appetizers and salads and their beef, chicken and trout were delicious. We enjoyed it so much we went back for a second visit. They have a great late night happy hour after 9:00 p.m. that also allows you to have a prefix dinner for a surprisingly reasonable price. Service was very friendly and quick. So you can shop and play all day and still enjoy a wonderful evening of fine dining in a casual atmosphere. Food was good. Bread is too heavy, though. Crust not quite right. Can't explain. Food is not commensurate with the price. Overpriced. Surprising small portions. Overpriced. Il Piatto serves up wonderful Italian farmhouse foods with the flair of the Chef Matt! Everything is excellent and unique. All the food is fresh, all vegs, etc from the local farmers market and prepared to perfection.

An excellent location in town for a stroll before or after dinner. They add daily specials throughout the year. We have been there several times for lunch but his was the first time for dinner. The noise level can get a little loud as the restaurant fills up.
Our service was great. The 3 course special for both lunch and dinner is probably the best thing going in both Albuquerque and Santa Fe. This latter category, however, is why we don't come here very often. While their food prices are very reasonable, the wine prices are over the top. If they gave you a good pour in a proper (Riedel crystal) Burgundy wine glass (for reds), then their prices would be acceptable. (They use the smaller white-wine glasses for red Burgundy/Bordeaux wines But you get about a 5 oz. pour and they charge as though you were getting an 8-9 oz. pour. It's always been this way, and I'm sorry to see this hasn't changed. Our palates are pleased and our plates are clear at Il Piatto. Great dining! We enjoyed great Italian food with nice aromas, beautiful plating, wonderful flavors, in a relaxing environment. Nate was an excellent server. We enjoyed our meals and we did Pulire il piatto "clear our plates" except for the generously portioned entrees which demanded take home containers.
