A word from Il Pescatore Restaurant
Il Pescatore was founded in 1980 by three partners all of whom were of Tuscan origin. The original menu included classic Tuscan dishes, which are still on the menu today, such as Pasta della Casa, Veal Scallopine with mushrooms, and our signature Veal T-Bone with Rosemary (Lombata de Vitello al Rosmarino).

With the explosion of the Italian food and wine scene in the 1980’s, the menu expanded to represent dishes from numerous regions of the Italian peninsula. Risotto con funghi (Piemonte), Cannelloni alla Romana (Roma), Eggplant Parmigiana (Sicilia), and Fresh Fish Picatta (Napoli) are but a few of the regional dishes on our menu.

Our menu has been continuously evolving, and this year we introduced our own homemade Gelato and Sorbet.

Il Pescatore has been proudly serving the community of Oakland for over 32 years at Jack London Square and we have been blessed with many loyal customers over the years.

Used to go to this restaurant on Saturdays for lunch at least 2-3 times per year in the past. Stopped going about 2 years ago because friends who went with me moved away etc. This time I went for dinner. Menu does not change, food is still good, service is excellent. There was no mention other fishes they have on the menu (except salmon) such as orange roughy etc. We asked the waiter about why there was no "catch of the day", he said orange roughy is very expensive nowadays, and restaurants in general found it hard to put them on the menu.

The restaurant is dated; needs remodeling. Wait staff tries but it must be discouraging to them to work in a restaurant that need so much work. Better choice is Scott's or Kincaid. Won't go there again as the food is marginal.

Pescadore is an old-school restaurant in a wonderful location. Food is creative & unique plus old favorites very well done. Staff is as accommodating ans they can be. They let us stay until the game on the bar TV was over. We love the homey decor with the sophisticated touches that keep it modern and upscale.

We used to frequent this restaurant years ago and loved it. Although the food was very good, the service was rushed. We were in and out in 45 minutes, rushed to pick a wine, not offered coffee, and they asked to take our dishes before we were even done. Pricey for what you got. Pretty setting and virtually empty on a Friday night at 6:30.

What can I say about Il Pescatore...it was just, okay. Food was not bad, but it definitely needed some BOOM BIP! The presentation was blah and the taste wasn't anything that made me want return. The meal felt thrown together without much regard for presentation or taste. Even the bruschetta was not all that good, which should not be that difficult to make well. The restaurant felt quite dead. We were seated for dinner on a Tuesday night and most of the place was empty the entire time we were there. The best part of the evening was the service. The staff was friendly, prompt and courteous. I wanted to give this place a chance but by the end of my dinner I found myself ready to go. Il Pescatore needs an overhaul...ambiance to menu.

Beautiful day at Jack London Square and we were sat next to a window to view the action. This is an Italian restaurant and we ordered non Italian dishes. Tuna panini was OK but for $14.00 should have had more tuna. The clam chowder was very flavorful as was my wife's caesar salad. Mother-in-law ordered the shrimp louie and was disappointed to find they use bay shrimp. It was a lot of bay shrimp but she is 90 and that presented a problem. The service was 5 star and view was a million dollars. We will be back to order Italian next time.

This restaurant was recommended to us, but we were informed that food choices/quality have been up and down in the past. I was hoping things were better, but my fish was dry around the edges and served with a very oily sauce. My husband told me the next morning that his [favorite] dish was the worst he had ever had. We were very disappointed and won't be back again....sorry.

I'm sorry to say that this establishment is not as good as it used to be. Food had decent flavor but the quality of the seafood was not good, instead of nice prawns in the seafood pasta it was tiny shrimp. The crab was canned and mushy. Too bad because it used to be great.

Pricey - Yes but for special occasions worth it. Outdated - I loved the menu, some people say you have to change things regularly, these guys haven't, could be their problem, i'm not sure, everywhere else around there was full that night. My thoughts would be to make subtle modern twists on the traditional dishes and this place would be full to the rafters. Antiques - A lovely idea, sets great ambiance but very hard to clean and noticeable if you don't clean them. Atmosphere - you have it there, Jack London square, just off the main drag, quiet view of the harbor, inside rich leather chairs, gorgeous architecture of the building, servers with pleasant demeanor light Italian music. WE LOVED IT.

I've been to Il Pescatore before and remember it being expensive, but now it's really too expensive for what you get. Very small portions. The chicken picatta and veal picatta looked identical and both were a "grey" color and very rubbery. The manicotti was canneloni and there were two very small pieces on my plate and NOTHING else for $25!

Food was disappointing...it was not what we are used to with a fine dining restaurant. My daughter ordered chicken Parmesan and it was cold in the middle and the pasta was al dente. I ordered a glass of wine and ended up leaving the glass full...the wine was sour. We had reservations at 6:00pm on a holiday weekend night and when we walked in, we were the only ones there. Two more people came during the time we were there....it was pretty dead. Allthe other surrounding restaurants were packed with people. This restaurant used to be good, but now, not so much!

Haven't been here in 15 years or so. Happy Father's Day to me. Totally not disappointed. Carpaccio was perfect; Veal Saltimbocca was a little different than I make it, but the difference was a good variation. Service was fine. Ambience is just lovely. No whiny dissertation here; this was just a very nice experience served well. No nonsense; good food; pleasant atmosphere; nice wait staff; just the way I like it. DO come here.

The best thing about the restaurant was the waiter, and he was just adequate. He never asked us if we wanted another drink from the bar (we did!) The decor was very outdated, odd and cluttered. The portions were extremely small for the price (1/2 chicken breast per order, about a 1/2 cup of vegetables and about the same amount of really bland pasta). We both had chicken and it had a strange texture, as if it had been previously frozen, inexcusable for a 16-20 dollar entree. I used to frequent this restaurant about 13 years ago before there were so many food options in the area, and remembered it fondly. Sadly I won't be returning based on this experience. Food not competitive for the area ex: Forge, Bocanova were packed.

This is the second time eating here, and the 2nd visit was just so so. I thought it was rude how our waiter kept making comments that we ordered enough food, after he took our orders he said "wow you guys eat a lot", and asked if we were hungry because of how much we ordered. WHO CARES what we order? WHO says that to customers while they are dining at their restaurant?? Tacky. I liked my spaghetti bolognese, BUT...my moms filet of sole had bones in it, which means they don't know how to filet a fish correctly. The calamari was dry and overlooked, and they took forever just to make my Caesar salad. I'm also annoyed that they did not check me in to earn my dining pts! It's not brain surgery. Not sure if I will come back again.....

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years and usually have the same waiter. Through the years, Il Pescatore has always delivered. You're not going to get groundbreaking dishes here. No surprises. It is your standard fare Italian restaurant. But what they do, they do well, especially in the seafood dishes. The fish is fresh and some of the sauces on the fish or on your pasta are tasty but not extraordinary. Like I said, nothing fancy but you can be assured of a well prepared dish. You cannot beat the view of the Marina and Jack London square. Wait staff is professional. This is what they do for a living. We'll come back for sure. We don't expect gastronomic surprises but we are never disappointed in the traditional fare.

We had a family get together there on Sunday night. We were seated promptly and given a great window table with a fabulous view of the bay. We were seated promptly and our server was there right away to ask us about appetizers and drinks. We ordered the Carpaccio and a bottle of champagne, which were all very good. They could add to their champagne offerings by the bottle. All of us ordered pasta entree's and they were excellent, my brother ordered the Crab cakes as an entree, he loved it. Great food, good service although the servers were distracted by the NCAA women's semi finals as Stanford were playing. We really enjoy going here for the service, food and the views.

Not an entirely full review. We ended up showing right at reservation time. We were sat at at a random location, the host wouldn't even check for our reservation. We sat for 30 minutes without even getting a drink order. We are a professional couple, which confuses me how the restaurant was not even 50% full, and we were ignored. We ended up leaving and going to Scott's, which was an excellent dining experience. I would suggest Il Pescatore to no one.

Il Pescatore is a long time favorite of ours. We've been coming here since we moved to the Bay Area 15 years ago. As the name implies, it has Italian cuisine with an emphasis on seafood. The recently renovated interior creates an atmosphere of sumptuous luxury with its dark, heavy, leather chairs and waterfront view. The food and service rarely disappoint, although the prices reflect its tourist spot location.
