  • "May be due to summer vacation but there were too many kids that affected normal ambience of this restaurant negatively. Normally, it's more upscale and matured but it was too popular. On top of that, our waiter was not friendly as usual. He didn't even mention his name when he came to our table so we don't know who he was. It's not the normal style of this restaurant. Overall, we were pretty much disappointed with the restaurant at this time. I think the management should pay more attention to their services and ambience."

Wine list is OK, but people watching is superb - it's always an interesting crowd and sitting outside and watching Beverley Hills go by is always a treat. Service can be spotty, but OK. All in all, worth a visit."

  • "We shared Rollini Di Melanzane (eggplant with goat cheese and red bell pepper sauce) to start, Scoglio (spaghetti with clams, mussels, shrimp, and calamari in a light tomato sauce), and Garganelli Con Broccoli E Salsicce (curly pasta with broccoli and spicy sausage). Delicious! Dessert was Torta Dela Nonna, a bit heavy but still scrumptious. Seating was a bit cramped (our table was 4" from the next table) and extremely noisy--no romantic chit chat possible here. If we sat outside on the patio, there'd be car gas fumes to contend with, but at least we'd be able to hold a conversation. Still, the delectable dishes came quickly and service was impeccable, making Il Pastaio a restaurant to return to again and again."

  • "I chose this restaurant based on its reputation as being the #1 Italian cuisine restaurant in LA......I don't know who voted and I don't know what they based it on, but the experienced results don't merit the title. Yes,it was "great for outdoor dining" but, considering that it was 85 degrees and I was coming from a place that was 40..... The service was attentive without being warm and gave the impression that they were evaluating you as to whether you were worthy (maybe I am over-sensitive). Valet parking was excellent both arriving and departing and the person doing the seating was excellent as well. I was expecting over-the-top cuisine and this place failed to deliver. It was "very good" - that's it. Not worth the effort to get there"

  • "We were on our way to a play at the Wallis Annenberg Center and decided to check Open Table for a place to eat in the same area. Il Pastaio was one of the places which was listed and, based on the great reviews, we made reservations for 6:00. Unfortunately, the traffic suddenly became a nightmare and we were almost 30 minutes late. I checked in at the desk and they showed us to our table immediately. The food was terrific and the service was great. Even though the restaurant was full inside and out and very busy, we were served promptly and still had time to get to the theater early. We hope to take visiting family there next month. "
