A word from Il Mulino Uptown
For nearly 35 years, Il Mulino New York has prepared authentic Abruzzese cuisine with unparalleled service.

There’s no place like Il Mulino New York. The luxury Italian restaurant’s flagship Greenwich Village outpost initiated New York’s fine Italian dining trend and is still prized in the city’s elite dining scene. Zagat has rated Il Mulino New York as Manhattan’s No. 1 Italian restaurant for decades and has said the restaurant provides "one-of-a-kind" cuisine filled with delicious flavors, creating an "outstanding Italian classic" restaurant where "every dish is a masterpiece."

Executive Chef Michele Mazza, who hails from Naples, Italy, has proudly carried this tradition since 2003. Fresh ingredients, artistic preparation and impeccable service distinguish Il Mulino New York as one of the world’s premiere restaurants. In addition to fine dining, Il Mulino New York provides excellent off-site catering and products.

The staff at Il Mulino Uptown is great. Ruby took very good care of us. It was a special anniversary and they sent glasses of excellent wine to the table. The food presentation and preparation was wonderful and the antipasto which is brought before the meal is a wonderful Il Mulino touch.

I've been to all the NYC Mulinos. They have similar welcoming atmospheres but differ somewhat in their ambient settings. This is a welcoming place, warm and friendly despite the overall decor that suggests something a cut above.

The meal we experienced was fabulous. Immediately after sitting down at the table, three complimentary appetizers were brought to us. The marinated octopus app was incredible as was my snapper frutti di mare. My only criticism is that it is way too dark in the restaurant. The waiters have little flash lights to read the menu, and may patrons were using the flashlights on their phones, which blinded us a couple times. Turn up the light a bit, and you will have perfection!

Start with a great antipasto you didn't even order -- the minute you sit down. Great bread offerings. Moving on, they will follow your requests, even to take a little time and not rush you. All pastas are available as half portions (good to know at these prices). Everything was first rate. Holiday weekend made it really leisurely and lovely. Otherwise, it's a very popular and busy place.

Food was fine, but the constant pushing of drinks was obnoxious. A waiter approached us three different times after we sat down to push cocktails and champagne. After dinner, a waiter arrived with a bottle of limoncello and glasses, ready to pour.

Last year we had a great lunch with a delicious veal entree at Il Mulino downtown. On that basis my wife and I tried Restaurant Week lunch at Il Mulino uptown. the selection was awful. My wife had a gruesome ravioli as appetizer. The only meat entree was spaghetti and meatballs, and the best that could be said about that dish is that it was undistinguished. What a flop of a meal. And the service was nothing to brag about, either. On top of all that, they included in the bill $15 for a cocktail that I neither ordered or drank. Never again! By the way, if they want to get into Restaurant Week again, they should be required to post their menu. As it is, it makes Open Table look bad.

We went for restaurant week lunch. The portions were miniscule. I had mussels--8 on the plate. They were tasty but sparse. I had the chicken martini. If I tell you there were 2 bites, would you believe me? Well, you should. Dessert was a decent portion--but too sweet. The breads were delicious. If I had known about the size of the portions, I would have eaten more. If the purpose of restaurant week is to get you back, this placed failed miserably. THey did not create a good impression. We all felt the same. The caprese salad had one slice of tomato and 1 slice of mozzarella--for shame.

The restaurant that never disappoints. This is my favorite restaurant in the world and this location has even surpassed the original location. The delicious cuisine and quaint ambience fill this oasis in the middle of the bustling city. The prices are, of course, in keeping with NYC but at least this establishment earns them. Truly a wonderful experience yet again.

Waiter clearly annoyed with people sticking with the restaurant week menu. The food was below average and very simple. There were not many choices. One of our dishes was wrong and one dessert was brought to the table broken up.....The restaurant was not busy but the waiters couldn't wait to pick up our plates to the point that it was annoying

This restaurant does not live up to its reputation. The atmosphere was pleasant. The only good thing about our food was my appetizer of porcini mushroom ravioli in a cream sauce. It was excellent, which raised my anticipation of the arrival of more mouth watering food. Unfortunately, the salmon had no taste...salmon without a taste???!!! Vegetable greasy. The chocolate flourless cake, words cannot describe. If going, order the ravioli as a main dish and skip everything else. Service, he forgot to bring my espresso. We chased down waiters for everything we needed.

This original restaurant in the Village enjoyed the reputation as the best Italian in Manhattan. So our expectation was big about this UES new comer. To summarize it, it was a disappointment - the first course was the best. The past was too soft and dry. The dessert was too sweet and nothing special. Over all, for nothing wonderful the price is too high.

My wifes' doctor recommended Il Mulino to us when she mentioned we were going to city for a day .. the experience we had was actually pretty nice up until we were brought our entree, the rib-eye, which was a special ... bad tasting and over-cooked, which stunned us, since we usually won't shy away from seeking out restaurants that may be pricey, which Il Mulino delinetly is ... Nice way to bring down what otherwise would have been a good experience. The pre-dinner wine at the bar, the cheese, etc. offerings when 1st seated, and the dessert, all outstatnding. But again the entree, along with a waiter being a bit too much on the smug side, and, well, we could'nt wait to leave.

My husband and I enjoy dining in NYC throughout the year, and we finally made reservations at Il Mulino. If you like waiters and servers who make you feel they are being inconvenienced this is the place for you! Servers literally dropped plates of food on our table when we arrived, a tomato actually bounced off the table onto my lap, then the floor. The waiter was looking everywhere but at us when going over the menu, and the noise level was extremely loud. Poor acoustics, blah ambiance. This is our last time here ... Prices far exceed quality of food as well.
