  • "Last year we had a great lunch with a delicious veal entree at Il Mulino downtown. On that basis my wife and I tried Restaurant Week lunch at Il Mulino uptown. the selection was awful. My wife had a gruesome ravioli as appetizer. The only meat entree was spaghetti and meatballs, and the best that could be said about that dish is that it was undistinguished. What a flop of a meal. And the service was nothing to brag about, either. On top of all that, they included in the bill $15 for a cocktail that I neither ordered or drank. Never again! By the way, if they want to get into Restaurant Week again, they should be required to post their menu. As it is, it makes Open Table look bad."

  • "We went for restaurant week lunch. The portions were miniscule. I had mussels--8 on the plate. They were tasty but sparse. I had the chicken martini. If I tell you there were 2 bites, would you believe me? Well, you should. Dessert was a decent portion--but too sweet. The breads were delicious.If I had known about the size of the portions, I would have eaten more. If the purpose of restaurant week is to get you back, this placed failed miserably. THey did not create a good impression. We all felt the same. The caprese salad had one slice of tomato and 1 slice of mozzarella--for shame."

It was excellent, which raised my anticipation of the arrival of more mouth watering food. Unfortunately, the salmon had no taste...salmon without a taste???!!! Vegetable greasy. The chocolate flourless cake, words cannot describe. If going, order the ravioli as a main dish and skip everything else. Service, he forgot to bring my espresso. We chased down waiters for everything we needed."

  • "My wifes' doctor recommended Il Mulino to us when she mentioned we were going to city for a day .. the experience we had was actually pretty nice up until we were brought our entree, the rib-eye, which was a special ... bad tasting and over-cooked, which stunned us, since we usually won't shy away from seeking out restaurants that may be pricey, which Il Mulino delinetly is ... Nice way to bring down what otherwise would have been a good experience. The pre-dinner wine at the bar, the cheese, etc. offerings when 1st seated, and the dessert, all outstatnding. But again the entree, along with a waiter being a bit too much on the smug side, and, well, we could'nt wait to leave."

If you like waiters and servers who make you feel they are being inconvenienced this is the place for you! Servers literally dropped plates of food on our table when we arrived, a tomato actually bounced off the table onto my lap, then the floor. The waiter was looking everywhere but at us when going over the menu, and the noise level was extremely loud. Poor acoustics, blah ambiance. This is our last time here ... Prices far exceed quality of food as well."

  • "I work next door & have one thing to say, it was amazing. Once we walked in we were very welcomed and seated right away. Before you order anything, they offer bruschetta, mussles, parmesan cheese (cut from a huge piece), salami, and fried zucchinni (at least thats what I think it was). My gf and I split everything and told our waiter that we were splitting it all so he brought out everything on 2 plates. We ordered a salad with pears and goat cheese, beef carpaccio, prosciutto and melon, truffle cream sauce porcini ravioli, spaghetti carbonara, & a tiramisu & drinks. The salad was ok, but the proscuitto really just melted in our mouths. The ravioli was absolutely delicious and mind you I do not like mushroom. Overall pricey, but I loved it."

  • " referred to Il Mulino by many friends. However, the location that was recommended to us was the downtown location. Since we were in the theatre district I chose the uptown restaurant. We were greeted immediately and warmly. As soon as we sat down a flurry of happy servers dispensed small plates of appetizers-bruschetta, cheese, breads, zucchini sliced thin and fried, and a type of salami. For dinner we ordered: rack of lamb, double cut veal chop, and spaghetti carbonara. Without breaking down the failure of each dish, someone in the kitchen was heavy handed with salt. That was the consensus. The waiter was informed and apologized. So did the manager. They tried to fix the same dishes instead of making new. We will never go back."

It took awhile to get menus, which was fine in this case since they give you so much "amuse". Then they tried to give us our bill before we were done. Slight miscommunication amongst the servers."

  • "We've tried getting into Il Molino for years and just found their uptown location. We went on a Sunday evening, and it was only 1/2 occupied. I had the Branzino, and it was mushy, not filleted at the table. My husband had a very al dente, heavy pasta. There were 3 or 4 levels of servers, but not one "just responsible for us." We were disappointed."

Il Mulino Uptown has no patina and the food doesn't sparkle like Grammercy Tavern. Just kind of boring. Will never go back. Just not that good. Flat."

  • "We went to Il MULINO to celebrate a birthday. We had eaten in their sister restaurant in Puerto Rico last year and it was awesome. So for his birthday we decided to make a trip to NYC from Virginia. When we were seated we were offered a choice of a table at the dining room entrance or one at the kitchen door. There were other tables available. The first course of octopus was good. I ordered veal saltimboca and it was the WORST veal I have ever experienced . It was so mealy it tasted more like overdone chopped steak. My partner ordered shrimp that tasted old and had a very soggy batter. Now you would think someone would have asked if we enjoyed but no. Next time go to Peasant,s in soho where you will save a ton of money and get great food."
