The appetizers were on point and had that certain Greek influence that we were looking for. The service was exceptional. Gordon was our server and was extremely attentive. The restaurants General manager Christophe was an absolute please to speak with. The passion he has for his restaurant truly can be felt in all aspects of the operation. This time we elected to stay Downtown in Gramercy. We were in town for three nights and this was our last night dinner. Fabulous to say the least. Our waiter (Bartok) was terrific. The grilled octopus appetizer was by far the best I have ever had. The steak(filet) was likewise the best ever. One would expect to find delicious lamb dishes and other wonders of the Greek style cuisine. But, Parea has taken an intriguing approach to Greek cuisine by adding Pat LA Frieda steaks to their menu. In my opinion, their steak stacks up to every steak I have tried by any of the dedicated steak houses in NYC…not to mention the portion sizes are larger while very competitively priced. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and made a wonderful suggestion away from one of my favorite California Cabs. Bottom line - the combination of traditional Greek cuisine with top tier steak is a dream come true for any Mediterranean foodie. The appetizers transform you to Greece with those beautiful, vibrate flavors. I live in the neighborhood and finally a steak house I can return to. Our table had the Porterhouse and the Prime NY strip. Just perfect. The sides were equally delicious. Sufficed to say, we had one of the best meals the other night. We were skeptical when this restaurant rebranded itself as a steakhouse since we are pesca-vegetarians. But we were amazed at how well the fish was prepared, the best octopus ever, the service (David Gordon) was as good as any 5 star establishment, and the drinks were prepared expertly. I have eaten at all the big name steakhouses and have to say that Parea Prime's held their own. In fact, the rib eye was one of the best i have had in NYC. I can't wait to go back.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTry it, you'll like itMy understanding is that Parea Prime is fairly new to the neighborhood, which may have explained why it was a bit quiet and not completely full, but for a business dinner for four people, the noise level was perfect. The service was very good, and the food (we all had fish) was excellent. The grilled octopus was especially good. The sides of vegetables (mushrooms/brussel sprouts) had a bit too much sauce, but were otherwise prepared well. A nice touch was the "on the house" dessert platter that was brought over with our coffees. The atmosphere was hip without being over the top, and the lighting and decor was smooth and earthy. He loves Greek food and I love steak so we both won! They have a great looking bar so we decided to start there with drinks and appetizers. Had the seafood bouquet and it was SO delicious! Really great wine selection too. My filet minon was so tender and flavorful and he had the Lavraki (grilled sea bass) and it was amazing! We shared the brussel sprouts w/ bacon and truffle mac and cheese. Our server was very attentive and even brought us a small dessert platter on the house! Excellent service overall. Management sent over desserts wich was a great touch to a wonderful meal. Loved the Greek
