My Favourite restaurant, My Favourite Italian food anywhere. The service is unbelievable with the staff bringing many starters (at no charge), all divine. The mushroom ravioli was addicting.   • "We have had many meals and celebrations here going back many years. Stick with the original Greenwich Village location as the others are no match. It can be difficult to get a dinner reservation so try it for a late lunch - believe me you won't need dinner! Everything I have ever had here is magnificent - the pastas and the fish are my personal favorites. The fruit served for dessert is unbelievably fresh and flavorful - would love to know where they find those strawberries. One caution - the prices are stunning and unknown until the end. However, in the end our family is still coming after all these years."

I was there for a Restaurant Week lunch. My first visit. The portions were bountiful, delicious and, overall, was a memorable experience. I selected the chicken offering. Without falling into a pit of overstatement, I will honestly say it was the most delicious chicken dish I've ever had! Memorable. A terrific place for celebrating. Anything!"

  • "I went for lunch with my girlfriend during restaurant week. I've been to many fine dining establishments, as well as to Italy several times - this experience was certainly overhyped as an authentic Italian experience. The dishes were salty and not particularly yummy, though the wait staff walked around with various tastes of cheeses, salami, etc. What really killed it for me, though, was the obnoxious behavior of the "regulars" toward the ppl that were there bc of restaurant week. A gentleman sitting nearby loudly asked the manager "Can I pay with food stamps like these other people? ", among other things. Overall, an unremarkable experience coupled with obnoxious old men who don't know the net worth of the ppl they're sitting next to"

  • "Very nice experience during restaurant week-the food was all excellent- plain and vey tasty Italian dishes- the way we like it, not all fancied up with weird presentations or unusual sauces. Really nice Italian bread is served right away along with a few antipasti dishes from the chef,all very good. The coffee tho was not the robust Italian coffee one usually gets in Italy. The service is quite attentive without being overbearing but it is not exactly friendly either. No complaints there tho. The chicken in a savory brown sauce was exactly right altho unremarkable. We will go back and try the regular menu on another occasion."

  • "We had lunch during Restaurant Week. I certainly hope they don't rush their regular diners as they did us when it isn't Restaurant Week. I can understand wanting to have two seatings during lunch during Restaurant Week, but not any more. We had barely put our forks down after finishing our appetizers when the entrées arrived. And when we put our forks down after finishing our entrees the desserts arrived. And sure enough the bill arrived even though we were still drinking our coffees and hadn't asked for it. The food was excellent and we'd like to come back, but hesitate to do so."

The service was not at the level I expected. No oil and vinegar were offered for the Caprese Salad nor did they offer cheese for the pasta course or pepper for the main course. I would go there again but not during Restaurant Week."

  • "The food was good but not outstanding. Appetizers were good but much too cold. They should have been served at room temperature. The main course of veal with melted cheese was tasty but much too greasy. The service was attentive but very frenetic. They were anxious to move diners out as quickly as possible. As soon as we put a fork down, they swooped in and cleared the table. Consequently it was very difficult to have a relaxing lunch. It would have been nice to have a moderately priced wine the glass, especially during restaurant week. However, it was nice to see a wonderful mix of customers - from students, to families with children, young professionals, and retirees. Everyone appeared to enjoying themselves."

  • "The service here is impeccable. My veal was tender and salted to perfection. The oil saturated focaccia is heavenly - I could eat it with every meal. I have food allergies and the staff was attentive and concerned and made my dining experience worry-free which is not always common when eating out. I would definitely go back!"

  • "I had high expectations for this restaurant due to its Zagat ratings, but unfortunately it lacked that something-special. The complimentary sides (parm cheese, eggplant, etc) were amazing so I think it's just the decrease in quality that is somewhat inherent during restaurant week. I ordered veal for my entree and it was pretty decent, but I wouldn't come back to order the appetizers and desserts."

  • "This once great restaurant was a mess...or, to give them the benefit of the doubt, clearly unprepared for restaurant week. Entrees were "a bit of protein" with too much oil, too much butter,too much garlic, way too much salt, a sprig of parsley and an unripe, red, pink, yellowish awful slice of tomato. The Maitre D' asked....without a breath or a pause, "Is everything OK? Great" and sped off. He knew not to wait for an answer. Bread basket was an oily mess of crouton-like creations...again with too much salt. At least the flour less chocolate cake was flour less....actually tasty....barely salvaged a disappointing experience. Hoped for so much....like the Wall Street expense account days...got so little!!!"

  • "Went to a Restaurant Week lunch, The food, especially the veal, was wonderful but the service was really bad. As soon as we sat down, the waiter asked for our order. We said we had not had a chance to look at the menu. He went away, came back no more than one minute later, and demanded our order. Same response. When we did order, he got mixed up as to who had ordered what and even brought a wrong entree to my friend. Worst of all, however, was that two other waiters stood incredibly close to our small table talking loudly so that my friend and I could barely hear each other. One of these waiters was so near to me that he banged into my arm as I ate. Fortunately, they moved away when asked . No apology. They did wear nice tuxedos, however."

  • "I'd been curious about Il Mulino for many years and took the opportunity to try it during Restaurant Week. Big mistake. We might have tolerated the cramped table in a small and crowded sea of cramped tables. We might have put up with the bizarre waiter and his manic air. ("Thank-a-you!") But the problem is that the food at Il Mulino just isn't very good. The caprese salad was ice-box cold. Entrees were wildly over-salted. Desserts were insipid. There is nothing more demoralizing than an iconic (and expensive) restaurant coasting on its name and reputation. Buyer beware."

  • "Actually surprised I was able to get an Open Table rezzo but guessed this placn may have changed since it "franchised". Must admit, was surprised. Seated immediately upon arrival, very good service from captain and waitstaff. Food was extremely enjoyable and a good time was had by all. No rush, no hassle and a nice mood all around. The soup and veal presentations maintained both a lightness and fullness of flavor. Success does have its drawback and arriving for the earliest possible booking, while not fashionable, will ensure a more or less timely seating."
