A word from IL Mito Enoteca
"IL MITO Enoteca was born from my passion for a local restaurant comparable to those I frequented in Italy - a comfortable home away from home, where you can sip a great glass of wine, complemented by an incredible, rustic Italian cuisine.

The Cuisine of an Enoteca is the simplest of Italian cuisines, made with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients that create amazing, complex rustic flavor combinations. Our Enoteca Style menu features homemade pastas, insalati (salads) Piatti Piccoli (small plates), Formaggi (cheeses), Bruschetta, Pizza and Secondi Rustica. It was created so that you may have a big meal with friends and family, or a light snack with your wine.

We at IL MITO Enoteca are grateful for your interest in our passion for food, friends, and life. We look forward to serving you soon and getting you addicted to an unforgettable experience!"

This place is fantastic! We had the fettuccine carbonara (soooo good!) and beef short ribs with a couple apps, a bottle of wine and shared a tarimisu and both had coffee for $120 so a great value.

Excellent array of gluten free options. As soon as I ordered GF pasta the waiter said he would bring GF bread, both of which were excellent. The wait staff was extremely attentive, the place was very busy on the Friday night we went. I will definitely be back.

I love this restaurant, service is always professional and friendly, food is always good. You can choose an inexpensive meal or go all out, either way it's always delicious. My one quibble---the old guy who comes in and belts opera. He's got fabulous pipes, a great talent, but it is always intrusive and annoying, you feel you have to stop your evening to accommodate him. Otherwise, love the place.

My wife and I used to go here a lot, but haven't been in some time. Made the reservation on open table, John the manager recognized our name and remembered the we liked to sit a certain table, so held it for us. It's the type of service that makes IL Mito one of our favorite spots. They treat you like family and the food is always good. Our favorites are the lasagna and spaghetti. I know it sounds basic and boring, but trust me, it's not your normal lasagna or spaghetti, it's a must try. I've never had a dish here I didn't enjoy. Overall, a great place.

Not a good dining experience this time. Had to find our own menus from the bar - this was after the server asked us what we wanted and we said we hadn't seen a menu yet. Risotto was very undercooked, and my husband received the wrong order. The server apologized but did not offer anything. This was unfortunate as we have enjoyed other evenings at Il Mito. Ristorante Bartolotta trumps Il Mito tonight. That's likely where we will go next for Italian.

The service was prompt and courteous. All of our food and drinks were very good. We love going local and will keep coming back. Next we want to go to the cooking classes.

It is popular, however it is very noisy. Have dined ther twice and will not return. Wife enjoys that type of food more than I do. Tables are way to close and staff is almost knocking over stuff on table squeesing in to serve you. Their comment-- sorry, you know your at Il Mito. Both times we were there we sat next to load mouth bragging people and heard every word of thier conversation. Not a nice evening out. Hard wooden chairs are not very comfy.

Some of the food we ordered was excellent - truly outstanding. Other food was just OK. The standouts were the butternut squash soup with sage oil (although we failed to detect the fresh ginger ingredient) and the caramelized Brussels sprouts and polenta that were served with the pork chop. The chop was seriously lacking seasoning and tasted rather flat. Salt and pepper helped. The fettucini carbonara didn't taste like any carbonara I've ever had - tasted like the chicken was heavily smoked although it wasn't described that way on the menu. And there was really no bacon flavor at all. Service was not good. Never got a water refill, the side plate or the bread that I requested twice. And it was only 5:30 - not busy AT ALL!

The season has changed and the menu has some great options to choose from. Pumpkin ravioli with a creamy sage sauce. The sage sauce absolutely makes the dish. Great combination of flavors with pumpkin and sage. I was so excited about the pumpkin ravioli that I forgot to mention the appetizer...bruschetta. Crispy fresh bread with a mountain of fresh diced tomato, basil pesto, and cheese. Dessert was a chocolate torte infused with hazelnut and topped with fresh sliced strawberries and house made whipped cream. Dinner was absolutely amazing. We will be going back again very soon to try some different dishes. It's all about experiencing a different combination of flavors on the palate. Come here to dine! You will not be disappointed.

My friend and I visit Il Mito regularly now. She lives in Wauwatosa, and I live in Shorewood. I have no qualms about driving a ways to have a meal here. The service is excellent. They even remembered us, which was surprising. The food is spectacular. Portions are perfectly sized. This is where you have a quality meal, not a typical Americanized "quantity" meal. Love love love, and can't wait to go back. Thanks to all who served us!

Il Mito is always pretty good. It's nothing to write home about necessarily, but it's familiar, cozy atmosphere and menu of comfort food is a sure thing. The service has always been above average and it's a low key place to celebrate a special occasion. The wine list is a bit plain (one of each varietal, no more no less) but the wine offered is always good. We'll keep coming back; we will keep coming back longer if they amp up the service, spice up the wine list and play with the menu a bit.

I took my boyfriend to Il Mito because I have always had marvelous experiences, and he had been dying to try their cuisine since I mentioned it months ago. We enjoyed several dishes and wine; the recommendations were par none, it seemed like our waiter had considerable food knowledge. One thing I didn't remember was how reasonable dinner was in terms of price--Il Mito is creative and fresh and it's an extraordinary value in terms of food and atmosphere. I think we'll definitely be returning for a special occaision
